We had been on a garden tour. After the tour, we moved from a busy part of Utrecht to the Hotel Museumkwartier, which is in a lovel, quiet and walkable part of town. The hotel is in an old house. We spoke to a young woman (who is the owner's daughter) who told us about the building. Originally built in the 1200's and then substantially renovated in the 1600's, it had been their family home up to seven years ago when it was converted to the hotel. Her father owns an antique store and is furnished with antiques. The wall.paper was wonderful. Our suite was at the back and overlooked trees and church spires. Our friend's room was at the front and overlooked the canal. Just so beautiful. We ordered their wonderful breakfast, which was brought to our suite up the spiral staircase every morning. Upon our arrival at the hotel and when we checked out, the hotel staff cheerfully carried our luggage up and down the staircase, too. This was excellent as two of us had thrown our backs out just prior to the trip. Although the hotel is furnished with antiques the bathrooms are delightfully warm and modern. Everything was so clean. It was nice to have a nicely appointed kitchen area. with dishes, cutlery, and cooking utensils. It had a half cooktop and a fridge. The fridge (which had a freezer) was full of all sorts of bottles for purchase which reduced the area to store purchased food. We resolved that by putting all the bottles in the crisper. The hotel is just one lovely block over from a shopping street that has an excellent grocery store, restaurants, and shopping. It was an easy walk over to the museums and the Dom. There are such nice paths along the canals. There were bicycles but only a few at a time. There were pedestrian and some cars and trucks too but it felt like we all were peacefully living together not like the bicycles were tryingto get us. It was very peaceful even though we arrived on the King's birthday! I liked the church bells ringing the hour and the half hour. I find it very peaceful. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Stayed for one night on 21/01/2024. Very comfortable and clean rooms. Nice staff. We arrived a lot earlier than the check in time, but were able to leave our bags at the hotel. Great location within easy walking distance of the City centre and main train station. Quiet area.

A fabulous quirky hotel. Beautiful room with a canal view. Recently refurbished bathroom. Comfortable huge bed. Delicious continental breakfast delivered to your room. They were super helpful, storing our bags and answering our random requests. We would definitely stay here again.

Stayed in the large family room. Friendly staff, in the heart of everything. Breakfast was superb and delivered to your door. Will definitely recommend. Only issue the mezzanine beds have steep stairs so be prepared and may be difficult for very young or old.

I've lived in the Netherlands for 20+ years but this was my first visit to Utrecht. Mrs A had been before in the 80s and 90s. We chose the hotel on *********** using the 'bath' filter. It was reasonably priced, an old building in a great location. AH and Jumbo supermarkets were close by, as was the centre of town, but it still felt quiet. I'd read the reviews but disagree with a few negative comments. With Google maps the entrance is not hard to find, look for number 399A. Also the stairs, by dutch standards, are not steep they are quite palatial.  We didn't experience any noise from fellow guests. Mrs A declared the bath in our 2nd floor room to be the nicest ever.  No (noisy) jacuzzi pump, just a long deep plain bath - excellent. Single beds were fine, we just secured one end of them together with 4 large tie wraps and didn't have to mind the gap! Breakfast delivered to the room was excellent too. Warmed rolls/croissants were a nice touch. They were able to give us access to our room before the declared 4pm check-in and they are happy to store bags. Some nice canalside bars close by - we enjoyed 't Oude Pothuys. Behind the property is the "7 Steegjes" area and the grassed walkway alongside the (Rijnkade) canal.
