I will start with the positives. The hotel is situated in a good location, not far from the water and St Marks square, and is extremely quiet. The hotel staff were friendly and we received complementary breakfast every morning. This breakfast was basic but included a mix of breads with cheese and hams, croissants, and yogurt. It started us off well for the day. I always do a lot of research before booking a hotel, and picked this hotel as from the website and reviews, it appeared the rooms were spacious and unique. I particularly liked how every room was featured and I was looking forward to seeing how our room would be designed. However, when we arrived, our room was in the loft with a sloping ceiling. This meant the room had limited space and also lacked design. This was a real disappointment. We banged our heads on the beams on multiply occasions throughout our stay and had to almost crawl to the mini bar. The room door was also glass so was not sound proof at all. We had disturbed sleep every night with other guests coming and going from their rooms ( some rooms had a keypad which made a buzzing noise when opened), guests in their room ( we could hear the guests in the room next door - they had crying children and also a glass door!), and the staff. This was a special holiday with my boyfriend proposing and we wanted a luxury feel which we definitely did not receive. I also emailed ahead to ask whether the rooms had an iron. I was assured that all rooms had an iron, however our room didn’t and to be honest there was not much space to even iron. I saw two of the other rooms while the maids cleaned and was impressed with the size and also the design. I would recommend this hotel if you could guarantee you didn’t have the loft room. We had a lovely holiday but the room was a real disappointment.
