It’s taken me a while to review this hotel but I wanted to make sure I did, as we had a brilliant fortnight here at the end of July/start of August. I travelled with my husband and two children (age 9 and 11). The whole site is just beautiful. The view from the restaurant and terrace is amazing, especially when the sun goes down. The beach is not private but it may as well be as it doesn’t lead anywhere, so no one comes onto the beach except hotel guests. It always has plenty of sun beds, whatever time of day and these can be pulled onto the grassy area or left on the sand, depending on how near the sea you want to be. The pool is a little busier and some days we were able to get sun beds as late as 9.30am, yet there were a couple of days where they were all taken by 7.30am. It never worried us though as we knew we’d get beds on the beach (even though we are generally pool people). The site feels so safe for the children to wander around by themselves as the hotel is at the end of a long drive, and is spacious yet compact too in terms of never being far from your room. The food was fantastic. Always different options and something for everyone. Proper honey dripping from a hive (I can’t think of the proper name!) at breakfast. The main man on the restaurant was so welcoming and always chatted to my son, challenging him to finish his Rubix cube (still not managed it!) The staff in general were just so fantastic, always so hardworking and helpful. My son was being silly one evening and ended up throwing his flop flop in the splash pool by accident and the lovely lady at the downstairs bar hooked it out for him. So kind. The evening entertainment was the same as any similar resort, some people expect too much, we enjoyed it. Some evening lights by the table tennis/kids play area would be a great addition if I were to change anything. Plus some extra tables on the top terrace by the restaurant as these were often full of an evening. I’d also really like these tables separated into non smoking and smoking. I really can’t believe how many people still smoke. The local village of Sissi was walkable but no proper pavement so a bit uncomfortable walking back in the dark. Shame, but obviously no reflection on the hotel and plenty of people got cabs there and back instead if they wanted a change of scenery. Thanks Meli Palce, you made our summer! We would definitely return, however my daughter is now 12 and this hotel considers that as an adult, so we could no longer afford to return due to needing two rooms (according to booking pages anyway, personally we’d be fine with the accommodation we had this year). Highly recommend.
