The Royal Hotel Weymouth

Weymouth|0.16km from Cafe Weymouth
******WOMEN BEWARE! This hotel is unsafe and the staff is just as scary. We came into Weymouth for a one night state. We started off on a rough foot, when we were put into a smoke filled room ”even though the hotel does not allow smoking.” I did ask to be moved to another room and pay the difference and was refused and told the hotel was full by the manager. Upon our return, a different staff member was on and told me she could move us, and did. I thought that was the end of problems but after dinner, upon returning, we were followed to our elevator by two men. They asked ”where the party was” and asked for our room and floor. I think they could tell we were caught off guard and then said they were security on duty. Strange to say the least. We went to our rooms, (we booked two) locked the doors and went to sleep. Around 1am, two couples came back from what appeared to be a long night of partying. There was screaming, yelling and fighting on both sides of us, until about 8am. Both couples were arguing and running between and up and down the hallways. Several times, our door was attempted to be accessed and people were trying to open our doors all night resulting in no sleep. At 8am, as we decided to pack up and leave (BTW we had no phone to call down and open connecting balconies with these people!! We put furniture in front of all the doors - both balcony and main door) the same rude manager banged on our door not once but twice and told US to turn down our music. We advised him it was the room nextdoor and not only did he not apologize for banging so loudly, he STILL did not go next door. We did attempt to reach out to the hotel upon check out and were treated with the same indifference. I cannot advise you enough - do not book here, do not stay here. It is unsafe.

Chapter 1 Hotels

Weymouth|0.17km from Cafe Weymouth
Located opposite the Kings Statue & a stone’s throw from Wetherspoons William Harvey pub, Chapter 1 lends itself to Instergrammable photography. Each of the rooms is named after a novel & the bookish theme pervades through the establishment in actually a rather nice way. Gone are the wonderful two statuesque plants either side of the front door, but nevertheless one is greeted by Steve who manages a rather nice hotel. Well decorated, comfortable and welcoming, the interior is appointed with a number of interesting talking pieces of art, books & assorted knick-knacks. Steve is very helpful in making suggestions on the locality & is well worth engaging & seeking out advice. Continental breakfast (served on a Sunday from 9am) was delicious & the coffee good. Our room had air conditioning & Steve helped us up the stairs (there’s no lift) with our bags & showed us how it worked. The pub and town went quiet around 11pm & we enjoyed a good night’s sleep. For high quality dining in the town, booking is essential. We ate at Halls Kitchen - good with generous portions. I would have liked to try Les Enfants Terribles but they were booked solid. There is parking 2 block away from the sea front at the Park Street car park & one can unload bags from a car, if necessary, a few yards away from the front entrance of the hotel. Steve very much made & enhanced our visit and it’s refreshing to find someone who is happy to proffer a personal touch in a world of sterile hotel offerings.

Stayed in this hotel last minute and from booking the room over the phone with the staff to checking out I can not fault this hotel. The staff are friendly. The food in the restaurant is lovely and the rooms are of a good size and very clean. We have dogs and this hotel is great for them and they were treated so lovely by the hotel staff. We were so impressed by our stay at this hotel we are looking at booking again and taking family along with us.

The location of the hotel is easy to find, opposite the beach. The surrounding restaurants are very convenient. Check-in was quick and easy, the room was clean and bright. Suitable for family travel, there are free rental toys for children to play with sand.
