We were staying in the area and went into the Anchor Inn for some food. The only good thing we can say is the pub has been renovated and was nice inside. We arrived at 19:05 on a Saturday evening, the barman was sitting drinking with others and there was two people dining in the restaurant. We asked if they were doing food which the barman said he wasn't sure and would have to ask the kitchen as they were closing! We got our drinks and sat down, the barman then came over 5 mins later and said if you want food order it now but your going to have to be quick....This is the point were we should have left however there wasn't anywhere in walking distance that we knew of. The food arrived and it was ok nothing special. The guy serving us didn't talk and the barman was rude and obnoxious.

Husband and I are on a very short break in the area so decided to pick a local pub rather than going to a big chain. Went today, early afternoon to grab a bite to eat. Reviews seemed ok so we thought worth trying. Landlord was quite sharp and unwelcoming and seemed annoyed we asked for the food menu. It was 1.40pm. We asked if they were still serving food and very rudely he said: "Just". It felt like he was doing us a favour. We bought a couple of drinks before ordering food. I ordered the classic burguer and my husband the sausage and onion baguete. Baguette was ok ish but the burger was undercooked, one of those flat burgers you buy frozen at the supermarket and the potato wedges were more oil than anything else. Should have taken a picture but was so disgusted and did not finish my meal. Very sad as I am definitely not a fussy eater at all and love to help local businesses to thrive but unfortunately I am leaving this review as 1) customer service was very poor and 2) food was disgusting. Real shame and I am sure they serve good food, unfortunately not when we went there. The day before we went to another local pub and the service and food were great. Again, sad to make comparisons but I am sure they know they did bad early this afternoon. I hope they realise that at least.

Nice quiet area and lovely country pub, good food and a selection of beers. Landlord was super helpful and explained everything. Would stay again and recommend.

The cleanliness of the accommodation was absolutely excellent. The landlord Paul was super helpful, and managed to order us a cab to attend the wedding we were there for.

Friendly landlord & staff all very helpful during our weekend break. Drinks and food all reasonably priced. Ideal place if you are looking to just chill and relax.

A very comfortable nights stay ahead of skydiving locally. The meal and drinks the night before in the bar were good and there was a friendly atmosphere from the staff. The landlord couldn’t do enough for us.

Started off being told by the owner we arrived an hour late and check-in was between 2-8pm, he said this in a very rude manner and clearly had a few drinks. Me and my partner sat down and had a drink while waiting for the room, after waiting a while we asked the owner is our room ready which he responded “oh I forgot”. Got up to our room which was an alright old looking room however realised not long after the bed was broken and broke even more once we laid down. He then barges in at 9am, without knocking, and demands us to leave the premises even though it clearly says 10am check out. Lovely looking pub but horrible owners. Definitely would not recommend to anyone.
