We’ve stayed here a couple of times and visited the restaurant for many years. It never disappoints. The staff are really friendly and the food is top notch. The standard of the restaurant has never dropped throughout the years, which is a credit to the owner and theteam! A1 at Lloyd’s!

First time here and very impressed. My pie was superb and everyone was pleased with their meals. Desserts nicely presented. Nice atmosphere and the service was prompt and attentive. Well worth a visit if you have never been before. Thanks!

Was looking forward to meeting up with family for breakfast, table booked for 9 of us at 10.30am, waitress not pleasant, food average, bill came straight after we had eaten, once we had paid the bill, asked to leave at 11.45 because they needed our table!! Not good enough!! Very disappointed with everything!! Shame.

Having read that this was pub of the year 2023 in the Norfolk magazine we thought we would try the food. The atmosphere was good, relaxed and pleasant music. Parking was easy. The food, left us feeling slightly disappointed. We all agreed compared to many of the restaurants we eat at it wasn’t particularly good value for money. There were 4 of us, one had the mushroom soup for starters and it was okay but had a slightly odd spicy flavour, one had the belly pork and thought it was good, two had the Thai fish cakes which were disappointing as we couldn’t taste the Thai flavours and there was too much potato and not enough fish in the cakes, couldn’t taste the fish. For mains, one had a venison pie which was okay but again not a lot of meat in the pie and lots of pastry, a thinner crust would have been preferred. One had the steak burger which was good and one had the fish of the day also quite good. Service was good.

I wish we could keep this gorgeous place a secret and all to ourselves! My husband and I had dinner here tonight for the first time and loved every minute of it!!! The bar itself is modern without letting go of it’s historical roots. Huge fireplaces with exposed beams and chunky modern comfortable furniture. The food is honestly sensational! Everything is delectable, cooked to perfection and perfectly balanced. We are so full and satisfied! The staff are incredibly friendly and kind and we got to meet Anton the owner who saved me from a near salt disaster. The pubs is set in a beautiful village and is fabulous in summer but can only imagine how wonderful it would be in winter with the fires lit while sharing a meal with loved ones.

Cute pub and hotel. Our room was very comfortable and clean. The bed was large and we had a wonderful sleep. Very historic as we were above the pub in the roof section. Great clawed bathtub and good sized shower with good pressure. The room didn’t have a refrigerator but the bar provided ice when requested. Meals were large and delicious. Staff were very friendly. The room is however up several stairs which we had to negotiate with our bags. As it’s in the roof there is sloping roof and stairs from one room to the next. Definitely not for the elderly.

Came to this pub for dinner a few nights ago, after reading great reviews and thinking it was a “bit of me”. Decided on what to have before I got there. The goats cheese tart starter was absolutely delicious. I really thought it was setting a high president for the rest of the meal and felt very excited. The waitress explained that they didn’t have the mixed meat pie left, but instead had beef shin. This had my attention straight away as beef is my favourite meat, and you can never go wrong with a homemade pie. Or so I thought. Upon receiving the main, I looked at it and thought it looked beautiful. That’s until I cut into the pie, only to be faced with a load of grey, anemic , dry meat. The only gravy in sight was the gravy covering the veg. I asked for an extra pot of gravy, mostly to try to avoid choking on said dry pie. Yet I still was not put off. Nothing a bit of gravy can’t fix. That was, until I came across what I can only think of to be a femoral artery. Sitting there, proud as punch staring up at me with not a care in the world (I know dead cows don’t have feelings). STILL trying to be kind and justifying the extra surprise in my pie I thought ‘maybe I was the lucky one getting the femoral artery?’. Having slowly consumed the pie whilst trying not to fixate on the fact it was hidden in my napkin, I felt proud of myself for managing and not complaining. The starter was delicious, so what’s a femoral artery between friends? Surely pudding would be better? Well I was wrong. I ordered the clementine pannacotta dessert, pannacotta being another one of my favourite dishes. Only to be greeted with what I can only describe as a whiskey tumbler full of pot pourri. The taste was not pleasant and when I finally got to the pannacotta, it had less wobble on it than a stick insects derrière. Not my idea of a pannacotta and the way it was served in a tumbler was just weird in my opinion. The pub was a nice pub, the starter was fantastic. But please, sack or have strong words with whoever is in charge of quality control so there aren’t any nasty surprises in pies and please just serve the different aspects of the pannacotta dessert on a plate, not all smushed into a glass. £140 wasn’t too bad for a nice starter though 🤦🏻‍♀️

Really delicious Friday afternoon lunch before going on the Polar express. Service was excellent and staff were very friendly. Food was hot and beautifully presented. Everything was delicious but highlight was the plaice. Will def return again if in the area.
