I loved my time on Gulangyu, and the staff were very helpful indeed in helping me get onto the island and find my way. The room had everything I needed, and I was easily able to do laundry too. If you're a light sleeper I'd recommend asking to avoid the room I was in as it was on the ground floor facing the street so you could often hear people just outside. Otherwise it's a great value place to stay. I was even given a Chris**as card and gift as I happened to be staying over Chris**as, which was very kind.
