The Alexander, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Yerevan

Yerevan|0.34km from Bertiz Cafeteria & Restaurant
This is everything you would expect of a modern Luxury Collection property. The rooms, the pool, the gym, breakfast... all top notch. Location is also perfect. There were, however some problems. Some serious. Some minor. Serious: - there is no way to contact the hotel electronically prior to arrival. There is no published email. I contacted them by Facebook Messenger, and they gave me an email address.... to which they did not reply. I recontacted via Messager... and they did not reply. No email address for a hotel in 2023 is not acceptable. - I was arriving ahead of the check-in time (10am vs 2pm) and checking out well before the check-out time (6am vs 12 noon). I explained the situation, said that I did not need my room early but i) if it was available great but ii) if it wasn't I would freshen up and change my travel clothes in the gym changing room. The answer - 'if you want the room before 2pm, you pay 50% of the daily rate. You may access the gym only after 2pm'. I was shocked. I understand that they are under no obligation, but refusing to allow someone to use the changing room?? I insisted. Eventually they relented. The changing room was perfect (and empty). But not good first impressions. - Returning from dinner, I was surprised that there is no evening turn-down service. I went to bed just before 10pm (I had been travelling) and did not think to put up DND sign because I was getting up at 6am and receiving room service breakfast. The turn down service came into my room just after 10pm when I was in bed. That is bizarrely late IMO (note that Yerevan is a late city with limited morning activity). - Room service breakfast was delicious except that orange juice was in a bottle. In Armenia, fresh OJ is available from any roadside stall. Surely the kitchens of the Alexander can produce it for breakfast? The hotel is expensive. It seems to be priced with the diaspora in mind who will not be surprised by NYC or Paris prices. For example, the $200 per hour for a massage is really extreme in this part of the world. I have no doubt about their claim to be the best hotel in Armenia, and I appreciated the luxury and service after some challenging travels through the Caucuses. However, I do think the management should get a grip on the service/value balance.

Heads of states, Movie Stars , famous Musicians, and international celebrities. You can see their pictures and guest book writings in the hotel impressive hall-of fame. The hotel has a very unique location at the heart of central Yerevan, on one of the main roads in the city. I was staying in a beautiful Room which had classic elegant design. Very comfortable and spacious rooms, with excellent king size bed, high quality beddings, large Bathroom with upscale amenities. The rooms are disinfected and are very clean. The hotel has many disinfection Stations throughout the entire hotel. The Service is excellent on every level . A special compliment to Liana Hovsepyan the profesional front office manager that arranged for me the perfect accommodation. She is very professional and very kind and speaking fluent English like most of the staff . The breakfast in the hotel is one of the best you will find in Yerevan . They have good quality choices including fresh detox juices and tasty local products that you can find only in Armenia. The waiters staff are very effective and polite and I must give special complement to the excellent Restarants manager David who takes care of every detail. The hotel surrounding has many Restaurants, cafes and shops worth visiting. From 16.11.2021 to 20.11.2021 arranged a birthday present with a trip to Yerevan! Long picked up the hotel and stopped at ”Boulevard”. The main criterion in the hotel collection was – Hotel location in the city center and breakfast. It turned out that they arrived in Yerevan on the day of their birthday meeting. They got to the hotel by taxi and were surprised by the warm meeting of his staff from the first minutes. We were opened, greeted and politely accompanied to the registration bar, where we were already waiting for the keys from our room. The whole registration procedure took less than a minute. The hotel staffer took our luggage to the room and detailedly told us where and how... The room met us with freshness and cleanness, a comfortable environment, availability of all the necessary accommodation. Today, you rarely see in the room the presence of coats, slippers, disposable toothbrushes and other hygiene ingredients, let alone three types of snow towels. ”Cheese on the cake” - we were surprised when to bring a compliment from the local bar – a cut of fruit and a couple of glasses of the famous Armenian wine ”KARAS”, but it is likely to be in honor of the birthday. The hotel is located in the central part of the city with a beautiful view of the pedestrian boulevard in the distance from the central carriageway, which allowed you to rest with an open window, without hearing the noise of the turbulent movement of cars. Availability in the balcony room, painted the evening clock for a cup of tea in the fresh air. Breakfast! The Swedish table struck us with a large range of meat and vegetable cuts, hot 4 species, cash, 100% juices, yoghurts, cakes, fruits about tea and natural grain coffee even write not worth. They were eaten, as they were told from Puza, and fled to the city to see the local attractions, which were on foot. The Boulevard bar has pleased us with a rich menu of delicious food, a large variety of drinks, skill, kindness and love for the work of the barman Arene. A separate Thank you to express the host of the hotel Eric Grigoryan for the selection of so responsible, sensitive and responsive staff providing – comfort, atmosphere and security. As a result, our trip to Armenia, to Yerevan has left a lot of pleasant experiences, unforgettable emotions and memories. Recommend the hotel and Yerevan.

I was not happy with it at all. 1- When I entered the shower hose and it’s head were not working properly and they were leaking from everywhere. I asked to fix it, and althogh they changed the head, but it was still not working properly and he said this is the best it can be. 2- parking space is a disaster. I suggest that u don’t take ur car there, not even if the hotel tells u that there’s no problem at all for parking. Unless you’re willing to argue with some randome dude who won’t let u park there, who also doesn’t have a legal permit to do so!! and the hotel won’t do anything about it. 3- room service was absolutely awful. They didn’t change the bed sheets, they didn’t vacuum, didn’t put slippers. But it was quite, the breakfast was good, and the staff were friendly.

Compared with other hotels in the city center, the comfort is good, but there is no washing machine and shaver, and the service attitude is average.

I wanted to express my pleasant surprise during my stay at your establishment. Despite encountering negative reviews, I'm unsure why they exist, as the hotel management seems to have reflected upon the feedback, made staff changes, and executed excellent improvements. The hotel staff was remarkably attentive and considerate. From cleanliness and amenities like bathrobes, towels, and napkins – everything was genuinely pleasant, well-kept, and clean. The breakfast spread was quite extensive, catering to any appetite and palate. One delightful note to share is that we casually mentioned my girlfriend had said ”Yes,” and shortly after, we received a thoughtful gift. It may seem like a small detail, but it added an incredibly pleasant touch to our experience. The in-house currency exchange with a favorable rate was a convenient feature. Stepping into the hotel from the street created a truly comfortable, homely atmosphere. Thank you for providing us with a wonderful weekend.

Good Points: 1. The Hotel was located in the heart of the city, particularly Republic Square. So, it was ideal for moving around and also to cater for food. 2. Being 3 Star, the room was good enough for 2 adults and 2 kids. Bad Points: 1. Room: The room, toilet in particular, was not cleaned during the 3 nights of our stay. When we complained, just the dustbin was picked up. 2. Facilities: No elevators in the Hotel. Our room was in Level 4 and we had to carry our luggage by hand. However, this point was manageable to us. May be an issue if any old people travel. 3. Bedding: We had clearly mentioned that we are four of us and we need proper bedding. We had booked 1 Double bed with extra bed. Double bed was a little small, but was fine. The extra bed was like a stretcher. Even one person while sleeping will fall outside the bed, in case he/she turns . We had been to Georgia and Serbia. But the extra bed (width of bed) that was provided was good enough for two kids to comfortably sleep. 4. Additional Bed Chargeable: Then we had to ask for an additional bed and they ended up giving us again one more stretcher kind of bed and charged us AMD 9,000 for 3 nights. 5. Breakfast: For 3 days of stay we had the same menu with hardly any change.

Place need some maintenance. For example, shower is not fixed to the wall and wiggling, wachine machine is not regularly dried and has mold. When we just moved in - the bed sheets were very wet... Dissatisfied for the price they take. Plus is location, you actually can sleep, has pot, microwave and wifi. But just need some minimal maintenance, service to fit expectations and price.
