"Every time I visit Taiyuan, I stay at Shanxi Hotel. Its location right next to Wuyi Square is fantastic, making getting around incredibly convenient. Taxis are often waiting right outside the main entrance. Behind the hotel, there's a small park, perfect for a stroll and enjoying the views. The front desk service is friendly and welcoming. The Baisuilan room type offers great views and excellent housekeeping, located on the 11th floor of the main building. The breakfast is rich and delicious, and the Fenjiu self-service option adds great value for money. Shanxi Hotel is a popular spot for night views in Taiyuan; every evening, many tourists arrive early to wait by the main entrance for the beautiful lights to turn on. The Jinfu Tower restaurant inside the hotel is considered the pinnacle of Shanxi cuisine in Taiyuan, making it difficult to get a table during peak hours. The dishes are truly remarkable and worth experiencing. I highly recommend Shanxi Hotel!"

"I stayed at this hotel during a layover in Taiyuan, and it exceeded my expectations. I initially didn't have high hopes for a one-night stay, but I was pleasantly surprised upon entering. It's especially great for larger groups transiting, as the presidential suite offers a large 'kang' (heated bed), a king-size room, a standard room, and even cooking facilities. Front desk staff member Xiao Wang was incredibly attentive and provided excellent service 👍. The airport shuttle service was also very convenient, covering both Wusu Airport and Taiyuan South Station. The breakfast spread was extensive, and the pillows and mattresses were very comfortable. I'll definitely stay here again if I have another layover! 👍"

"The room layout was sensible, with one large bed and one 1.2-meter smaller bed, plus two bathrooms. It's very suitable for families with children. The room was clean, with a separate wet and dry area, and the bathtub was a nice touch for families with kids. The robot service was a big hit with the children. Service: The service could use some improvement, for example, helping with luggage when entering and leaving, providing children's bathrobes and toothbrushes in family rooms, and offering welcome fruits."

"As a hotel within a scenic area, the facilities were clean and tidy. We had a view of the Yellow River from our window, and the service was excellent. We received helpful reminders during both check-in and check-out, and even a thoughtful souvenir. The restaurant downstairs had delicious food; compared to where we ate the next day, both the portion sizes and taste were far superior and very reasonably priced."

"The location is absolutely fantastic, right in the heart of the ancient city. For dining: Xi Jin Dao is downstairs, Fenglin Pavilion is a 10-minute walk, and Long Juxiang offers delivery directly to your phone. Every time we took a taxi back to the inn, we'd get off at Huayan Hotel and walk two minutes. The popular Heshengcai is a 10-minute walk (though the taste was just so-so, and none of the pastries even had an ingredient list). For sights: Huayan Temple is a 5-minute walk. I visited Shanhua Temple at night, which was about a 15-minute walk. During the May Day holiday, there were only about 10 people in the entire temple at night, so we could enjoy a peaceful visit. On the way back and forth, we also saw the city wall's light show and passed through a lantern festival. Rumeng Datong (Dreams of Datong) was also within walking distance. Service was great too. On our last day, we had to leave for the train station at 7:30 AM, and the owner even packed breakfast for us. The lamb offal soup with vermicelli every morning was delicious. The furniture is all elm wood. The loft family room was perfect for our family of three. The only downsides were that the room rate was expensive during May Day, and the bathroom design was a bit impractical."

Breakfast: Varied continental/Asian options, fresh and satisfying. Value: Good mid-range choice for business and leisure travelers. Minor drawbacks: Can be noisy during peak check-in/out; some rooms have limited city views. Overall: Reliable, comfortable stay with convenient transport links — good choice near the station."

"On my trip to Datong, I booked a stay at the Howard Johnson Jindi Plaza Datong, located right by the ancient city, through Trip.com. It's rated 5 stars online, and it truly lives up to the hype! As soon as I checked in, I was upgraded for free to a deluxe business suite. It was my first time seeing a suite with a dining table big enough to host over 10 friends and family. After one night, I switched back to my originally booked business king room. The king room was also incredibly comfortable, measuring a spacious 62 square meters. Opening the curtains revealed views of Datong's streets. If you walk to the end of the corridor, you can even see a panoramic view of the ancient city of Datong. What truly stands out is the fantastic Chinese restaurant at this 5-star hotel. I stayed in Datong for three days, and除了one lunch I had in Hunyuan Ancient City, all my other five lunches and dinners were enjoyed at the hotel's Chinese restaurant. Here, a bowl of Shanxi's specialty knife-cut noodles is only 6 RMB, and a bowl of cold noodles, even tastier than those in Hunyuan, is just 3 RMB. You can order half portions of shumai, and during the first dog days of summer, they even had dumplings. I tried the braised deer tendon with scallions, something I'd never had before, and it was superb, as were the husband and wife lung slices and jellyfish salad – perfect with drinks. Dining here is delicious and affordable. If you top up 200 RMB, you even get a complimentary plate of Shanxi's signature 'guoyourou' (fried pork in sauce). A huge shout-out also goes to the restaurant staff. They are warm, thoughtful, and genuinely care for guests, even advising against ordering too much, ensuring just the right amount! In summary, I give a 5-star rating to both the hotel and the F&B department. The last photo is of the hotel's breakfast, which was also excellent. The hotel has two breakfast restaurants, so even with many guests, it never feels crowded!"
