Anonymous UserI recently stayed at a hotel in Penang for three nights and had a pleasant experience. The hotel was in a convenient location, close to Penang Hill and many local food stalls. My room was clean, spacious, and comfortable, with a nice view of the city. Overall, I enjoyed my stay and would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Penang for a relaxing and comfortable trip.

Location: Situated right in the heart of George Town, Penang. It's within walking distance to the famous street art area, and Kimberley Street Food Night Market is just behind the hotel, a 5-minute walk away. The hotel is conveniently located next to George Town's tallest observation tower, making it easy to spot. There are also supermarkets right next door and across the street, which is super convenient for shopping.
Hotel Facilities: The room size is a bit small. In the twin room, the two beds are practically pushed together, creating what feels like a super-king bed. There's an outdoor pool on the fourth floor, and the lobby has plenty of comfortable chairs.
Breakfast: The breakfast spread is rich and varied, offering Chinese, Western, and Indian options. Very good!

The accommodation was spacious, with clean bathroom facilities and beautiful scenery, which made us feel relaxed and happy. Although the location is a bit far from the city center, the overall value for money is high, and it is highly recommended. The scenery and service were all wonderful. However, the parking lot was terrible. Don't park upstairs; there are countless narrow, winding turns that will make you dizzy and easily scratch your car.

CashNieI had a truly satisfying experience.
First, let's talk about the location. There's a night market right downstairs. For breakfast, there's an excellent coffee shop nearby that serves Kaya toast and local specialties at reasonable prices – perfect for a morning meal. The night market offers a great variety of local food options for dinner, which is a fantastic experience. The hotel is also conveniently located for exploring all the attractions in George Town, whether you choose to walk or take a Grab.
Now, a special mention for the hotel itself. Everything from the ambiance, room layout, and especially the concierge service and the professionalism of the staff, was outstanding. Although the rooms show their age, they are incredibly clean, well-maintained, and smartly designed. It was a wonderful experience overall, and I highly recommend booking here. If I visit Penang again, I will definitely stay at this hotel. Many thanks to the hotel for their thoughtful, attentive, and professional service!

Lovely clean room with air conditioning and proper shower. They also provide you with some bottled water and there was a fridge which is very handy for keeping your drinks cold. In the bathroom, Hand gel, shower gel and shampoo all provided as well.
The hotel is very well situated in Georgetown and you can easily walk to all of the key attractions - such as the Clan Jetties and some of the famous mansions here, as well as going around and seeing the street art.
There’s also a lot of cafes and restaurants nearby which are nice - and the art shop and cafe Journal is just down the street, which is a great place to pop into while exploring the town.
I had the breakfast while staying here and it was very nice - each day they have a rice and noodle dish and you can ask for eggs or an omelette. There was also salad and fruit plus steamed buns and corn pudding - so lots of variety.
One issue to note was noise - the rooms are not the most sound proof, so I could occasionally hear people in the corridor or even one person snoring during the nighttime, which did make sleeping a bit harder.

4four4The hotel is very new, spacious, and the facilities inside are also brand new. Every staff member is very polite. There's a large balcony with sunset views and an infinity sea view. The breakfast is also very rich, offering a variety of international buffet dishes. There's also an infinity pool where you can watch the sunset. One evening, we even opted for the buffet dinner at the hotel, which had a great selection and delicious food. It's just a 5-minute drive to Pantai Batu Ferringhi, where there are many different restaurants offering various cuisines, including beachfront dining, where you can enjoy fire shows at night. There's also a night market nearby for a stroll!

Ray Mak Hon KitWe stayed two nights at Summer Tree Hotel Penang during our trip to Penang.
One of the main reasons I chose this hotel was its location — right in the heart of Georgetown near Komtar, which makes it very convenient for getting around. It also offers parking, which is a big plus in this area. Another reason was the late check-in option, as I was having dinner with a friend in Nibong Tebal, which is quite a distance away. The pricing was also reasonable, making it an attractive choice overall.
Upon arrival, however, parking was already full. I had to park at a space right in front of the hotel where delivery trucks usually arrive in the morning. This made me slightly anxious, as I was worried I might be asked to move my car early the next day.
The lobby is simple but modern, with a creative, slightly hipster and artistic vibe — almost like a small modern art space. There are vending machines offering snacks, drinks, and essentials for travelers. At the back, there are toilets and also a laundry area with washing machines. A small coffee corner and even an old-school arcade game machine add a nice nostalgic touch, which was a pleasant surprise.
However, the room itself was quite disappointing.
While the room is basic and small — which I don’t mind — the flooring under the carpet felt severely damaged. Walking on it felt uneven and almost “soft,” as if the ground beneath had deteriorated. It gave a very uncomfortable and unsettling feeling, possibly due to moisture or termite damage underneath.
Another concern was the bathroom design. There is an elevated step at the entrance, which becomes a clear trip hazard. I actually tripped once when entering. Even after that, I had to be very cautious because the floor just outside the bathroom is extremely slippery. Every entry and exit required full attention.
There is also no proper shelf or platform inside the shower area to place shampoo or shower gel. We had to repeatedly open and close the glass door just to access toiletries during showering, which was inconvenient. Only basic amenities like shower gel and liquid hand soap were provided.
The room was also advertised with a decent view, but the window was covered with a mesh, and since we were on the first floor, there was very little to see.
On the positive side, the water dispenser outside the room was very convenient.
The next day, parking was still full, so we had to park at a private area nearby. Since it was raining, the walk back to the hotel was quite inconvenient as well.
Overall, while the location and concept of the hotel are strong, the room condition and safety design issues need serious attention. I would strongly recommend replacing the carpet flooring with vinyl wood flooring for durability and hygiene. As for the bathroom layout, improvements may be limited due to structure, but safety enhancements like anti-slip flooring would make a big difference.

SyamimaisyahOverall, our stay at Park Royal was good and pleasant. The room was big, spacious, and very clean. We booked a Deluxe Sea Facing Room, but the sea view was not really visible. The beach was okay, but not suitable for swimming due to the jellyfish warning and unclear water. The haze also affected the view during our stay.
Breakfast was okay, but the dining area can get quite crowded and cramped during peak hours. Overall, the hotel is clean, comfortable, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. We had a pleasant stay!

Guest UserThe entire guesthouse was spotlessly clean, and the decor was warm and stylish. The host was very friendly and patiently answered all our questions about local attractions and how to get around. The location is excellent, with food, drinks, and entertainment all within easy reach.
