The towering sand mountains, the mysterious singing sands, the tranquil lakes, and wetlands form the unique and charming landscape of the Badain Jaran Desert.🏜️
💕Go to these lesser-known places and enjoy leisure time that belongs only to you! You will definitely fall in love with them!💖
More beautiful than Crescent Lake, half desert, half lake, 99% of people have never appreciated it
When it comes to lakes in the desert, many people first think of Crescent Lake. 😎 But today, I want to share with you these lakes and sand mountains that are even more beautiful than Crescent Lake and more attractive than the Mingsha Mountains! Half lake, half sand, it's like the Sahara Desert! 🤩 Completely natural and undeveloped, truly hidden and unknown! Less than 1% of people know about it or have reached it! It's hidden in the Badain Jaran Desert of Alxa League!
"Desert sands like snow, Yanshan moon like a hook," here, the desert is vast and boundless, and the lakes are like dazzling pearls. 😲 This is probably one of the places with the densest concentration of lakes in the Chinese desert! In December 2019, the Badain Jaran Desert - Sand Mountain Lake Group officially applied for World Natural Heritage, striving to fill the gap of desert types in our country's World Heritage! Deserts are generally lifeless due to lack of water, but here, sand mountains and lakes coexist harmoniously!
🤗 The lakes in the desert are called 'Hai Zi', because they have the same color as the sea! Standing on the dunes and looking down at the 'Hai Zi', it's like a string of gemstone necklaces dropped onto the desert! 😜 Walking to the lake and looking up at the dunes, one can't help but marvel at their majestic beauty! "The lake's autumn moonlight matches its calm surface, like a mirror unpolished," the lake is extremely tranquil, with aquatic plants growing leisurely, bringing a bit of vitality; the dunes stand quietly, embracing the 'Hai Zi' tightly. They are like lovers, accompanying each other through the years. The golden dunes gently extend into the lake, where yellow meets blue, making me, a travel expert who has seen all the beautiful scenes in the world, exclaim in amazement! 😮 It's near the Badaoqiao Scenic Area in Ejina Banner, but 99% of people have missed it!
✨ Here come the attraction recommendations!
1️⃣ Badain Lake: Wow, it's the largest lake in the Badain Jaran Desert! Surrounded by tall dunes, the water is so clear that you can see the bottom 😲, simply a perfect place to enjoy the desert scenery and take pictures of sunrise and sunset!
2️⃣ Badain Jaran Temple: This temple built on the dunes is so unique, a landmark of the Badain Jaran Desert! The temple houses Buddhist deities, and many local believers come here for pilgrimage 🧐.
3️⃣ Yindeertu Divine Spring: This is definitely one of the most magical attractions in the Badain Jaran Desert, with spring water miraculously emerging from the dunes, forming a clear pool surrounded by green vegetation, truly amazing 👏!
4️⃣ Bilutu Sand Peak: It's the highest dune in the Badain Jaran Desert, with an altitude of 1611 meters, from where you can take in the magnificent beauty of the entire desert 🤩!
😋 Can't miss the food recommendations!
1️⃣ Hand-grabbed mutton: This is a traditional delicacy of Badain Jaran, made with fresh mutton as the main ingredient, cooked with many spices, and eaten directly with hands, the taste is fresh and delicious, and the meat is super tender!
2️⃣ Milk tea: Milk tea is a daily drink for the people of Badain Jaran, made with milk and tea leaves, rich in flavor and aromatic!
3️⃣ Cheese: This is one of the special foods of Badain Jaran, made by fermenting milk, with a rich taste and full of nutrients!
4️⃣ Roasted whole lamb: This traditional dish is amazing, made with a whole lamb, through special marinating and roasting techniques, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with an aroma that makes you drool, a super delicious dish 😜!
🛏 There are also good accommodation options!
1️⃣ Badain Jaran Desert Hotel: This is a luxury hotel in the Badain Jaran Desert, with complete facilities and excellent service, enjoying a desert vacation here is simply fantastic!
2️⃣ Badain Jaran Desert Homestay: This characteristic homestay located in the desert has a beautiful environment and is affordable, where you can get a good sense of the local customs!
3️⃣ Badain Jaran Desert Camping: This camping experience in the desert is absolutely amazing, allowing you to feel the beauty and tranquility of the desert up close, definitely an unforgettable travel experience! 🎇
📍 Location: Badain Jaran Desert, Badaoqiao, Ejina Banner, Alxa League, Inner Mongolia
📸 Photography: Highly recommend using a medium to long focal length lens for shooting or drone aerial photography!
【Precautions】
🔹1️⃣ When entering with an off-road vehicle, be sure to remember the phone number of the convoy, keep your phone fully charged, as the driver will return after dropping you off, and call the convoy after you finish playing, and the vehicle will enter again to pick you up for the return trip! (In principle, where you get off, you get back on for the return trip, as the dunes in the Badain Jaran Desert are quite high and there are few suitable areas for parking)
🔹2️⃣ You can go light when going to the desert, be sure to bring your phone, and bring enough water, as water loss in the desert is quite fast, and prepare some dry food!
🔹3️⃣ The ultraviolet rays in the desert are super strong, with no cover, so be sure to do physical sun protection, and it's best not to enter the desert at noon!
🔹4️⃣ Walking in the desert can be tiring, pay attention to your physical strength when climbing dunes, and enjoy the lakes according to your ability, it's not recommended to play for more than 2 hours at a time.
🔹5️⃣ Be sure to travel in groups, return before sunset, as there may be wolves at night!
🔹6⃣ Don't get too close to the lake for play, to prevent getting stuck in the mud!
🔹7⃣ If you feel unwell, call the convoy phone to return in time; if you encounter wild animals, try to stay away!
More beautiful than Crescent Lake, the sand mountain lakes in the desert, loved by 99% of people
A pure, natural, and undeveloped treasure—the sea in the desert! Half lake, half sand, it's like a pearl in the Sahara Desert. 😍
👉 The itinerary here is very rich and diverse. You can admire the majestic Gangshika snow peaks from afar, enjoy the colorful Danxia landforms, taste a wine dinner, explore Dunhuang's Mogao Caves and the Crescent Lake in the singing sand dunes, traverse no-man's lands, experience the internet-famous glass boat on the Emerald Lake, and even visit the Chaka Salt Lake and Qinghai Lake, etc., which will definitely make you linger and forget to return! 🌄💦
📍 This desert lake, reminiscent of the Sahara, is located in the Badain Jaran Desert in Alxa League, Ejina Banner, Inner Mongolia, about 2 kilometers from the entrance to the Badain Jaran Desert.
🚗 The way to get there is very convenient. You just need to reach Badao Bridge and communicate with the desert off-road vehicle team. The team will arrange for an off-road vehicle to take you to the closest point to the lake viewing area. The car fare is about 180 yuan per person, and if there are more people, you can even bargain.
Itinerary:
D1: Gathering day from various places to Xining airport/train station pickup
D2: Xining - Distant view of Gangshika snow peaks - Colorful Danxia - Stay in Colorful Town/Zhangye
D3: Colorful Town - Jiayuguan - Sunset wine dinner - Stay in Dunhuang
D4: Dunhuang - Mogao Caves - Crescent Lake in the singing sand dunes - Shazhou Night Market - Dunhuang City

D7: Golmud - Traverse Qaidam - Chaka Salt Lake - Stay in Chaka
D8: Chaka - Qinghai Lake scenery - Tibetan afternoon tea - Disband in Xining
【Precautions】
🔹1⃣ Before entering the desert, be sure to remember the phone number of the vehicle team and keep your mobile phone charged. After the car takes you into the desert, the driver will return, and when you finish your visit, you can call the team, and they will come to pick you up again. Remember where you got off, as that's where you'll get back on, because there are few suitable parking areas due to the high dunes.
🔹2⃣ When going to the desert, travel light, and don't forget to bring your mobile phone and enough water, as water loss is faster in the desert. You can also prepare some dry food in case of emergency!
🔹3⃣ The UV rays in the desert are strong, and there is no shade, so be sure to do physical sun protection. Try to avoid entering the desert at noon!
🔹4⃣ Trekking through the desert can be tiring. When climbing sand dunes, pay attention to your physical strength, and when admiring the lakes, do so within your limits. It is not recommended to play for more than 2 hours at a time.
🔹5⃣ Pay attention to travel in groups and be sure to return before sunset, as there may be wolves at night.
So, if you're not like the other 99% of people and want to witness this hidden beauty like the Sahara Desert with your own eyes, hurry up and take a trip to the great northwest of Inner Mongolia and Gansu! Don't forget to bring your camera and friends to explore this natural paradise! 📷🦅🌅

Juyanhai Lake Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Jun)
I finally made up for the regret that I passed through Juyanhai two years ago and did not enter the scenic spot: It turns out that it is worth a visit!
Juyanhai Alashan in Inner Mongolia, although called "sea", is actually a lake. A clear blue lake, surrounded by spectacular reeds, with broom-like flowers on the top, in the glow of the rising and curtaining, each one is set with a golden glow. Splendid in the desert of the desert.
There are thousands of red-billed seagulls flying in the sea, or flying in the air, or resting in the reeds, lakes, or playing with people. As the sun rises slowly, the red-billed seagull screams through the sky, adding vitality to the sleepy night of Juyanhai. Red-billed gulls, they are completely not afraid of people, swaying along the plank road, interacting with the tourists who came to watch the sunrise, enjoying the pleasant life here.
This trip is accompanied by Rui Kang, and Wei Wei happens to send guests from Jiuquan, so we met with our two full-time drivers, the last time (when I met) It was Hulunbeier in eastern Inner Mongolia in 2015. This time, in the Ejina Banner in western Inner Mongolia, we all have stories with Inner Mongolia...

Waiting for the sunrise at Juyanhai is truly wonderful
Juyanhai is the terminal lake of China's second largest inland river, the Heihe River, and was one of the largest lakes in the northwest in prehistoric times, as well as one of the four great desert lakes in China. Water birds and reed marshes are its two treasures, with the lake's clear waves rippling and the heavy reed flowers in the vast reed marshes bending the branches and swaying in the wind. Various water birds inhabit here, and the Juyanhai wetland is an important passage on the migratory route of migratory birds crossing borders. The morning sun shining on the reed marshes has a unique charm. Blue sky, white clouds, clear water, reeds, seagulls, sunset, every moment is breathtakingly beautiful. The azure lake water, the dense wetlands, and the graceful poplar trees in the distance form a unique landscape between the north side of the Badain Jaran Desert and the 800-mile Gobi no-man's land to the west.
The Tang Dynasty poet Wang Wei's verse 'A solitary smoke in the vast desert straight, the long river sunset round' was created at Juyanhai. When the wind rises in Ejin, the sand falls in Beijing city. In the early years, the sandstorms in Beijing in spring were very severe. The expedition team traced the wind upwards and went west to investigate the source of the sandstorm, and found that the historically famous Juyanhai had almost dried up, and the historically famous oasis had almost been desertified, with large areas of poplar forest dead. After years of management, Juyanhai now covers an area of more than 60 square kilometers, with clear waves on the lake surface and reeds growing on the lakeside, with the morning glow and seagulls flying together. Therefore, watching the sunrise at Juyanhai has now become a tourist hotspot.

Temple Haizi (Su Min Jilin) Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Jun)
The pearl of the Badain Jaran Desert
In the depths of the desert, there is actually a temple, and this small oasis is known as Sumin Jilin, also called Temple Lake. Although the lake is saline, it is full of life, and the groundwater near the temple is drinkable. Blue sky, clear lake, yellow sand, and green grass create a harmonious picture. No wonder this place is hailed as the pearl of the Badain Jaran Desert.
It is said that in the past, the temple's abbot had to ride a camel for two weeks to go shopping, but now, with the desert vehicles, it only takes 3 hours.
The area is quite small, and it takes only half an hour to walk around. After having lunch at the tin-roofed restaurant, taking a nap, sipping some tea, I wanted to listen to the lamas chanting and performing rituals, but unfortunately, I couldn't understand, so I quietly left the crowded small temple. It's better to sit in a cool place and enjoy the scenery.
Don't miss the sunrise in the Badain Jaran Desert.
Watch the sunrise in the Badain Jaran Desert early in the morning, with the world's highest sand dune, Bilutu Peak, in the distance. The contour lines of the undulating edges of the desert are lined with golden light, and the surface of the desert slowly flows. In front of you are endless golden sand dunes.

I encountered a pink heart in the desert | The ultimate guide to crossing the Five Lakes
| The ultimate guide to crossing the Five Lakes. I encountered a pink heart in the desert💖| The ultimate guide to crossing the Five Lakes📝
Opening thoughts: All photos are unedited, straight from the drone's camera!
At first, when I saw those pictures online, to be honest, I also doubted whether these were the true colors of the lakes in the desert. But when I saw it with my own eyes and the drone took off, I could only marvel at the wonders of nature! If you're in Yinchuan or Zhongwei, you must come to Alxa to experience the magical route of crossing the Five Lakes!
1. Detailed explanation of the Five Lakes crossing route
This route is quite mature, located in the desert near Alxa Left Banner - Hero Meeting Place. The whole journey is an exciting desert off-road, not suitable for self-driving, you have to charter a car and find a local leader.
🌟 The most beautiful is Wulan Lake (it's simply a lifelike heart, pictures 1-2);
🌟 Emerald Eye Lake (looks just like an eye👁️, with a greenish hue to the water, picture 3);
🌟 Camel Lake (a tender pink lake, picture 4);
🌟 Guitar Lake (shaped like a guitar, picture 5);
🌟 Swan Lake (blue water, next to the desert and green trees, picture 5);
🌟 The abandoned old car field at the Hero Meeting Place, super suitable for shooting road movies, but we didn't know before and didn't bring a camera📷, I suggest dressing cool and taking lots of photos here (pictures 6-7);
🌟 There are also other lakes, such as Egg Yolk Lake, Mandarin Duck Lake, etc., but due to different seasons, some lakes may disappear or not look as nice.
2. Thoughtful tips and hints
💡 Try to enter the desert around 9 am! At this time, there are fewer people, the experience is excellent, and it's not too hot. In the afternoon, tour groups will enter the desert, and then the lakeside will be full of people and cars, which greatly reduces the experience (⚠️We specifically stayed in Alxa Left Banner for one night, tasted the hat barbecue and shaomai, super delicious! Highly recommended!);
💡 The two of us chose to charter a car, and the experience was worlds apart! Very free, the leader only needed to help us take pictures, no need to wait for others;
💡 No need to make a travel plan, the route is basically fixed, the key is to choose a good leader, the leader decides whether you will get carsick, how good the photo and video effects are, and whether you need to travel with several cars~
💡 Definitely bring a drone✈️, the view from above is simply stunning, the leaders usually provide one, and even offer free shooting;
💡 We traveled by a single car, many times we were the only car in the desert, super free, if you like excitement, drive faster, if scared, drive slower🚗, it's a real test of the leader's driving skills (⚠️and many cars don't turn on the air conditioning, sand blows into the car, we kept the windows closed and air conditioning on all the way);
(The driver for the Five Lakes crossing), the most important thing is the price is super reasonable (I asked many companies, and some were charging 2000 for the same route, really a black question mark⁉️), driving + explanation + drone shooting all the way (the shots are really great! Trust me, girls!).
Summer Exclusive 'Ulan Lake'.
It takes you across five lakes, through uninhabited areas,
without navigation, without signal,
and without crowds of people.
This is not a tourist spot, it's a surprising encounter!
Enter, ride an off-road vehicle,
the feeling of weightlessness will make you scream,
but after crossing a certain dune, you will see the summer exclusive 'Heart of the Earth'.
The red Ulan Lake quietly hides in the heart of the desert!
The heart of the Earth, Lake Ulungur, is so beautiful
Lake Ulungur, located in the Tengger Desert, is a mysterious lake deep in the desert. It is a masterpiece of nature and an oasis of life. The water of Lake Ulungur is a bright red color, and its shape is like a beating heart. Moreover, Lake Ulungur in the Tengger Desert has a long history, flowing on the earth's surface for nearly a hundred years. Amidst the endless sea of sand, Lake Ulungur is like a dazzling pearl set in this desolate land, radiating vigorous vitality.
Lake Ulungur is a freshwater lake, which is especially precious in the desert. Due to the abundance of red algae, it presents a bright red or pink color, shining with enchanting light under the sun. Lake Ulungur is known as the 'Heart of the Earth' because it is like a heart throbbing with hot blood, spreading vitality in the desolate and merciless desert!
Alxa One-Day Tour | Come and join the fun
Transportation: Self-driving/Chartered car Recommended to find a local guide for a chartered car
Route: Alxa Tengger Desert - Highway photography
Preparation before departure: Sunglasses, bring your own snacks and drinks (the food in the desert is not tasty)
We hired a local guide for a chartered car, the guide provided pick-up and drop-off service throughout the journey, which was efficient and safe
We set off at 10:00 AM to head for the desert, the drive took about 2 hours. Along the way, the guide also gave us a brief explanation of the sights we passed, stories of Alxa's history, and interesting cultural anecdotes. Soon we entered the desert (come and find the saxaul trees you planted). It's a novel experience to have small animals suddenly rush out to block the road, but this is also why I don't really recommend self-driving for safety reasons.
Upon reaching the Tengger Desert, we had to switch to an off-road vehicle. I don't understand how the driver could find his way in the seemingly identical sands. You can directly find a place to enjoy sand sliding in the desert.
A drone video of crossing the Five Lakes will be provided
Camel Lake: The bottom of the lake has pink mineral crystals, I curiously touched them
Ulan Lake: Coming in June-July, it's like the red heart of the Earth
Swan Lake: The intersection of desert and grassland is magical!
The scenery and experience along the way were fantastic! Welcome everyone to come and check it out too!
