One day in the city is enough to explore the beautiful star-shaped citadel, the main attraction in Alba Iulia. The citadel is built on the site of the largest city in Roman Dacia, Apulum, where the XIII Gemina Legion was stationed. Many centuries later, Alba Iulia Citadel was also the place where the Romanian Union was agreed upon in 1918. It also hosted the coronation ceremony of King Ferdinand and Queen Mary a few years later. Today, Alba Iulia Citadel is a great place to visit and discover. You can see the restored city gates, the massive city walls, the museums, and the beautiful cathedrals.
