The Southern Silk Road passes through Yunnan and connects China with South Asia, Southeast Asia and the world. For more than two thousand years since the opening of Bonan Ancient Road, the caravan has been the main mode of transportation, providing support for communication between countries and regions along the route. There are many historical and cultural traces along the ancient Bonan Road. For example, there is the Yongguo Temple where the Yongli Emperor lived on the Bonan Mountain.
