Building a hut among the human realm, yet without the noise of carts and horses" - Du Fu's Thatched Cottage

Du Fu's Thatched Cottage was the residence of the sage of poetry, Du Fu, who sought refuge from the An Lushan Rebellion and lived in the Shu region. He resided here for nearly 4 years. More than 240 of his poems composed here have been passed down to this day, including timeless masterpieces such as 'Happy Rain on a Spring Night' and 'A Song of a Cottage Destroyed by Autumn Winds'. At the end of the Tang Dynasty, the poet Wei Zhuang found the ruins of the cottage, rebuilt the thatched house, and preserved it. During the Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties, it was repaired and expanded. The Du Fu Thatched Cottage Museum in Chengdu houses more than 30,000 volumes of various materials and over 2,000 cultural relics, making it the richest and best-preserved collection of Du Fu's life's work.
