Four-day Tour of Datong

Day one, take a train from Beijing North and arrive at Datong South Station in 2 hours. Get off the train and take a taxi directly to the Datong Museum. The Datong Art Gallery is next to the Datong Museum, so you can take a stroll there as well. Remember to book your visit to the Datong Museum in advance! In the evening, I walked around the ancient city and had dinner at Longjuxiang (it's quite popular, so you need to queue up). Day two, after breakfast at the hotel, take a taxi to Datong South Station and head to Yingxian Wooden Pagoda. It's a 39-minute high-speed train ride to Yingxian Railway Station, and then a 5-yuan bus ride per person to the pagoda. After visiting the pagoda, take a taxi back to the train station to return to Datong. Had dinner near the train station at Blue Harbor, enjoying Qijia Geda Soup. Day three was quite packed with visits to the Yungang Grottoes, Huayan Temple, the Nine Dragon Screen, and the Datong City Wall Lantern Festival. Dinner was at Yunzhong Shierxiang. Day four, no plans were made; took a train back to Beijing at noon and took a taxi to Heshengcai to buy some pastries and seabuckthorn ice bread. Overall, the experience was good, and the food was quite suitable. I just felt that the time was too short. I'll come back again when I have more time.
