Hiroshima Toro Nagashi Matsuri Festival 🏮🕯️

Every year on the 6th of august the city of Hiroshima marks the anniversary of the first atomic bomb. The infamous event decimated the city and killed tens of thousands of people, a lasting legacy of the war. The Hiroshima Toro Nagashi Matsuri Festival happens in the evening where thousands of multicoloured lanterns are lit and placed into the river. As the sun sets the lanterns float in front of the peace dome memorial and it creates a stunning sight. If you’re in Hiroshima for this date it’s a must do, but get there early as the festival draws in huge crowds and it can be hard to get a view.
