Southernmost Point of the Continental USA @ Key West

#usatravel #florida We had a chance to visit the Southernmost Point of the Continental USA, located in Key West, Florida. This iconic landmark is a popular tourist destination and holds significant geographical and cultural importance. The most popular spot is the monument, represented by a large, brightly painted concrete buoy, installed in 1983 by the city of Key West. The buoy is painted in red, black, and yellow, with the words "Southernmost Point Continental U.S.A." and "90 Miles to Cuba" inscribed on it. The buoy serves as a symbolic marker, as the actual southernmost point is a few yards away on private property, and another inaccessible point is located in a restricted area of the Naval Air Station Key West. We arrived at the area around noon, and there were a lot of people lined up to take pictures with the buoy. It took around 20 minutes before we got a chance to take a picture with the famous monument. Mission completed! There are great restaurants and cafes in the area, along with cool spots for photography. We highly recommend anyone visiting Key West to check it out.
