Pengshan District Pengzu Mountain Scenic Area

Pengzu Mountain is located in the northeastern part of Pengshan District, Meishan City, known as the 'Land of Longevity', and is the cultivation site of the legendary 800-year-old star of longevity, Pengzu, and his daughter. It is also one of the birthplaces of the world's longevity and tea cultures. Surrounded by mountains, with a solitary peak standing at its center, Pengzu Mountain forms a natural three-dimensional Tai Chi terrain. Pengzu's tomb is located on the Yang Fish's eye of the Tai Chi land. On the mountain, there are historical relics such as the tomb of Pengzu, the ancestor of Chinese Qigong and the star of longevity, Pengzu Temple, and Pengzu's alchemy cave. There are also the Health Hall, Qi Gathering Field, and Pheasant Soup Pavilion, which display the three secrets of Pengzu's longevity. Additionally, there are the ingeniously designed Qishan Twin Buddhas. Built against the mountain, one of the Qishan Twin Buddhas stands while the other sits, both with clever designs. The standing Buddha, Sakyamuni, is 28 meters tall and ranks eighth in the world; the sitting Buddha, the Many Treasures Tathagata, is 24 meters tall, was built in 713 AD, and is the blueprint for the Leshan Giant Buddha, predating it by nearly a hundred years. The scale of the Twin Buddhas side by side is unique in the country. The Pengzu Mountain Scenic Area covers an area of about 30 square kilometers and includes: Pengzu Temple, Fairy Cave, Pengzu Xianshi, Qishan Twin Buddhas, Longevity Ladder, Life Release Pond, Pengzu Mountain Forest, Huiguang Zen Monastery, Qi Gathering Field, Health Hall, Pengzu Academy, Bishan Temple, and other spots. Pengzu's tomb is the spiritual carrier of Pengzu culture, with significant cultural meaning.
