'Outside Suzhou city is the Cold Mountain Temple, the bell tolls reach the guest boat at midnight

' Cold Mountain Temple, formerly known as 'Miaoli Puming Pagoda Temple', also known as Fengqiao Temple, is located at No. 24 Hanshan Temple Lane, Suzhou City. It is a temple garden and one of the top ten famous temples in China. The Cold Mountain Temple was first built in 502 AD during the Tang Dynasty in the Tianjian period of the Liang Dynasty. It was destroyed and rebuilt many times over the centuries. During the Song Dynasty, a seven-story Buddha pagoda was rebuilt. At the end of the Yuan Dynasty and the beginning of the Ming Dynasty, the Buddha pagoda was destroyed by war. Later, the Buddha Hall, the main room, the mountain gate, and the Dharma Hall were rebuilt in the Ming Dynasty. It was burned twice during the Qing Dynasty. After 1949, the Cold Mountain Temple was fully renovated and opened to the public for the first time in 1955. In 1979, the Cold Mountain Temple held its first bell tolling event, and in 1982 it was listed as a cultural relic protection unit in Jiangsu Province. The main attractions in the temple include the Great Hall of the Buddha, the Sutra Tower, the Bell Tower, the inscription 'Mooring at Fengqiao at Night', and the First Building of Fengjiang. Between 2003 and 2004, the Cold Mountain Temple invested tens of millions of yuan to repair the temple's corridors, the Hall of Heavenly Kings, and the Cold Collection Hall. In March 2007, the Cold Mountain Temple launched the Big Bell and Big Stele project, which after completion in December 2008, won two 'world records' for the world's largest poetry stele and the world's largest Buddha bell.
