🌺 Big Buddha of Kotokuin Kosai Temple 🇯🇵
#cherryblossom2024
😘🌸 From the vibrant cherry blossom trees in full bloom to the peaceful Koi pond, every corner of Kotokuin Temple was a feast for the eyes. The ancient architecture and intricate details of the temple were a sight to behold, and we felt as though we had stepped back in time to a place of serenity and spirituality. The gentle rustling of the wind through the leaves and the soothing sounds of the temple bells filled us with a sense of peace and tranquility. It was truly a magical experience that will stay with us forever.
A journey to Kamakura would be deemed incomplete without embarking on a pilgrimage to the revered Kotokuin Temple, which houses the magnificent Daibutsu statue, famously known as the Great Buddha. This iconic masterpiece stands as the epitome of Kamakura's allure. The temple itself boasts a rich history, dating back to the year 741, while the awe-inspiring bronze Buddha statue was crafted in 1252. Towering over 36 feet (11 meters) in height and weighing a staggering 121 tonnes, the figure may appear somewhat unwieldy and top-heavy when viewed from afar. However, as you draw nearer, the proportions reveal themselves to be nothing short of perfection. For a nominal fee of ¥50, in addition to the ¥300 temple entrance fee, you are granted the privilege of exploring the inner sanctum of this colossal statue.
This opulent and captivating hideaway has made a lasting impact on my memory. The delight of revisiting and treasuring every moment in this one-of-a-kind haven is truly unparalleled.🌸😘🌼🤗#mytravelhacks #historicallandmarks #localguides #familytrip
