A Botanical Oasis in the Center of Chongqing
Zhaomu Mountain Forest Park is an oasis in the center of a loud, busy city. It’s the perfect place to have a picnic, hike or take a swim.
At the center of the park stands a small mountain that can be hiked in just under an hour. At the top of the mountain stands a gorgeous pagoda. The view of Chongqing is well worth the hike!
Their is a large lake at the center of the park that locals fish out of and even swim in! On clear warm days you will find kids flying kites, elderly people playing mahjong and dogs sniffing and exploring around the pond.
Zhaomu Mountain is the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of Chongqing!

A short walk in Zhaomushan
Zhaomushan Forrest Park (照母山森林公园)is located in Yubei District (渝北区, north from the city center.
You can take either taxi/didi or public transport to get there. Metro Line 5 has the closest station called Happiness Square (幸福广场). And from there there is a nice 2 km walk (but not really pedestrian friendly and you will have to climb up the mountain - which is an amazing row of steps).
Also, you can visit the park next to Happiness Square, which is so colorful.
Usually on summer weekends the Zhaomushan Forrest Park is visited, since it is an oxygen bar in the heart of the city.
You should bring some snacks and water with you and be prepared to walk a lot, in the famous Chongqing style, which is: up the hill and down the hill. You can also find small restaurants in the forest park, small stalls, where you can buy some food/snacks and water.
At the southern end of the park there is a lake and a nice picnic area.

The Jacarandas are here too~ Catch the tail end of the Jacarandas
Catch the tail end of the Jacarandas, hurry up and snap away! 📸
The Jacarandas have started to wither away secretly, don't miss the last chance for a beautiful photo! In Zhaomu Mountain Park, clusters of Jacarandas huddle together, simply stunning! 💙
✔️Go on a sunny day, but the light can be too strong and cause overexposure! It's recommended to go early or late when the light is softer, and the photos taken are simply breathtaking! 🌤️
✔️Besides taking photos, you can also bring a picnic mat to enjoy the quiet morning time when there are fewer people.
✔️Remember to bring mosquito repellent! The mosquitoes here are quite fierce, and you might end up with a head full of bites if you're not careful! 🦟
✔️There's a small hill, and with the crooked-neck trees, you can borrow the background of the Jacarandas for shooting, which is very photogenic.
📍Recommended spot: Zhaomu Mountain Forest Park (Gate 4)
🚗Self-driving: Parking is not easy

Camping, strolling with kids, picnicking, and fishing in Chongqing's main urban area is so much fun!
🌞In the morning, the sunlight sprinkles on the reservoir, creating a shimmering effect that's as beautiful as a painting. Choose a campsite near the water, set up a tent, lay out the food, and get ready to enjoy this wonderful day. 🏕️🍽️
🌳The park has a lakeside trail for cycling, skateboarding🛹, fishing, and you can also go on forest adventures, collect fallen leaves, and listen to the chirping of birds. It satisfies all curious babies! In the evening, sitting by the water and watching the sunset slowly descend, it feels like the whole world has quieted down.
🌵: Zhaomushan Forest Park and Renhe Reservoir in Chongqing
🅿️: Self-driving location to Zhaomushan No.3 Parking Lot
🚽: Toilets available
There are street vendors selling snacks, toys, and you can even order takeout here~
We ordered a takeout of 'yao ji' (roasted chicken), and even outdoors we could enjoy the steaming hot roasted chicken. The original flavor 'yao ji' is super loved by kids💕, not spicy at all, not fried so it's not greasy, retains the chicken's freshness and fragrance, tear it open to see the juicy tenderness, very nutritious and healthy. Ordering a few more servings of marinated dishes, it's really too comfortable!

Walking the child | The "center of the universe" big lawn, take a look at Chongqing Zhaomushan Park
Chongqing Zhaomushan Forest Park is located near Renhe Street in Liangjiang New District, Chongqing. It is jokingly referred to as the "center of the universe", which originates from a real estate advertisement. However, this park is indeed a good place for walking children, picnics, and camping.
The big lawn is located near the Jie Xiao Archway and belongs to Deyuan Forest. Remember to check the park map for the specific route after climbing the mountain. Because Zhaomushan Park is very large and there are many small roads and branch roads, it is difficult to accurately describe the route.
This lawn is divided into two by a small grove. The lawn facing the Jie Xiao Archway is very open and can accommodate many people. The lawn on the side is very distinctive because it is planted with various plum blossoms, such as wax plums and red plums. Following the faint fragrance of wax plum and looking at the cold beauty of red plum, it is refreshing.
Near the Jie Xiao Archway, there is also a garden in the garden. This garden takes filial piety culture as the theme and spreads the spiritual core of excellent traditional Chinese culture. While enjoying the scenery, it can also provide timely education for children, which is indeed a beautiful thing.
If you like to explore and seek seclusion, Zhaomushan Park can also satisfy you. There are many small roads inside, suitable for hikers. However, it should be noted that the small roads are slippery, and the ecology is original, so there may be snakes, insects, rats, and ants that need to be alert.
