Despite "luxury" being in the hotel name, the property is not ultra-luxurious, but it is a very solid, pleasant accommodation.
The rooms are spacious, pretty clean, and the Wi-Fi works well. Having a coffee machine in the room was a great bonus.
The location is excellent—very close to the main attractions in Georgetown.
The staff members are polite, and the swimming pool was fine.
My only minor complaint was that the air conditioning was a bit loud at times, but it wasn't a serious issue.
Overall, a comfortable stay and a great base for exploring Georgetown!
The cleaning of our room was only done around 4pm.
The lock of the toilet was spoiled.
The caps of the water bottles were missing after the make up of the room.
Good location with free parking.
There is no inhouse restaurant so no breakfast provided. Instead hotel provide free shuttle services to several locations where guest could go for breakfast
In Southeast Asia, 'no durian allowed in hotels and public transport' might be common knowledge for locals, but for international travelers, it's a typical 'cultural blind spot.'
When we checked in late at night, the front desk only verbally mentioned (in Indian English) 'no smoking and durian.' However, the hotel's digital contract only stated 'no smoking' and made no mention of durian. There were also no prominent multi-language signs within the hotel.
Later, when we checked out in the morning and stored our luggage, then picked it up in the afternoon, the front desk demanded a fine of 500 RM. After some negotiation, it was reduced to 200 RM. You can keep this in mind and decide for yourselves. The last picture shows a Chinese advisory page given out when checking in at Eastern & Oriental Hotel Penang.

✅Thoughtful Baby Amenities: We were so impressed by the baby essentials provided in the room. Having a baby bottle sterilizer available made our stay completely stress-free.
✅Outstanding Customer Care: The staff went above and beyond when I accidentally left my iPad and some clothes behind after checking out. They called us immediately to arrange getting our items back safely, which we deeply appreciated.
✅Prime Location: The hotel is perfectly located near some of the best and most delicious Penang food spots.
❤️We will definitely stay here again on our next trip to Penang!
