Very disappointed. There were many issues with my stay at this hotel and none were resolved in a satisfactory way. After 2 complaint emails to the hotel group and not a single response (after longer than a week), I view this as a clear and disappointing indicator of their attitude towards customers.
The hotel is labelled as “newly refurbished”, this is only partly true.
1. The rooms had new carpet and paint put in. The wardrobes, desks, bathrooms etc are all old, scratched, chipped and feel out of place in a 4 star hotel. This was confirmed to me by a manager at the hotel.
2. During my stay there was “maintenance” work happening a few doors down, many of the customers on the floor complained about this, particularly the strong solvent smell. The hotels solution was to offer to relocate us to other rooms on another floor which I view as a bandaid solution and a customer still has their stay disturbed as they have to pack up all their belonging (with the strong chemical smell) and then move to another, basic, dated, room.
At no time during my stay did I feel that the inconvenience and disruption to my (and other guests) vacation was adequately addressed.
On my final day I actually saw the “maintenance” work happening in the nearby room and it is my strong suspicion that the hotel was actually performing the renovation works in that room which would be very poor marketing by them to clam the hotel is “refurbished” if in fact it is still ongoing.
The 2 good parts about my stay were the breakfast which had a good choice and the location as it was near the metro.
This hotel in my opinion is a budget hotel priced at mid tier price point. My advice would be to spend more money and go to a nicer hotel OR spend significantly less and go to an actual budget hotel where you know what to expect.
I’ve uploaded only a few of the images of the wear and tear in the room as well as mould in the bathroom and previous guest food debris left in the fridge for me to find…….
If you value good customer service, good value for money and a positive guest experience…… I wouldn’t recommend this hotel.
I have left out several other issues I experienced during my stay as there is a long list and I don’t want to come across as petty. Suffice to say I won’t be choosing to stay at the Dorsett again!
