Definitely a grand hotel. I was so impressed with the architecture. There were a pianist and violinist playing in the evening and it was very relaxing My room was spotless. Only downside was tge ling wait for elevator.

An excellent stay experience. The entire complex is grand and magnificent, with exquisite and elegant interior decoration. Facilities like the gym and swimming pool are well-equipped, and the breakfast buffet is very rich. The 70-minute Western Secret Passage exploration tour was well worth the money; the volunteer guide provided detailed and insightful explanations of the history of the Western Secret Passage and the Grand Hotel. The shuttle bus from Yuanshan MRT Station to the hotel, running every 20-30 minutes, is very convenient.

The hotel's exterior view is unbeatable, but the rooms feel a bit sparse and the design is outdated. I can understand not providing disposable items like toothbrushes, but for such a high-end hotel not to offer value-added amenities like body lotion and sewing kits is a bit much. Also, charging for local calls from the room seems a bit stingy.

The location is excellent, and the common areas are so well-preserved that they're practically a historical site worth visiting. Staying here really feels like stepping back in time. However, the facilities clearly show their age and don't offer much in terms of modern advantages. The service was also quite robotic.

The views are absolutely stunning; you wake up to blue skies, a balcony, and beautiful cityscapes below. The facilities are a bit old, but its true value isn't in luxury or convenience, it's in its history, its atmosphere, and its unique charm. I really loved it and would definitely stay again.

The hotel looks grand like a palace. You could watch the plane flying into songshan airport when you dine in the dragon tim sum restaurant. There are 2 tunnels tours you could join although the east tunnel needs to be a hotel guest or spending certain amount in the hotel to get access. Their swimming pool, gym and tennis court is a distance from the main hotel building.

The biggest highlight of our Taiwan trip, hands down. The Grand Hotel is truly one of the best hotels in Greater China. As soon as we got out of the taxi, someone was there to greet us and help with our luggage, allowing us to go straight to check-in. I booked a room in the side wing. After taking the shuttle bus to the side wing, the only minor drawback was having to walk up a few steps, but it wasn't a big issue. From the room, you could see Songshan Airport and the Taipei city skyline. If you went up to the public areas on higher floors, you could catch the Taipei sunset. The public areas were outstanding. Taking photos late at night, there was hardly anyone around. Walking through the grand and majestic lobby felt like an coronation. Room size was also quite generous, and the hygiene was impeccable. The linens were spotlessly clean. The service was very comprehensive and attentive, though perhaps lacking a bit of warmth. The biggest issue, however, was transportation. For budget travelers, relying on the MRT is key, and getting from The Grand Hotel to the MRT station required waiting for a shuttle bus. However, there were also taxis available right outside the hotel, and Taipei's taxi fares are quite reasonable, so it was acceptable overall. All in all, an excellent experience.

The hotel lobby is very grand, and there were a lot of tourists. The room was clean and tidy. The guided tour of the secret passage was excellent, though it was a bit crowded.

Overall, it's pretty good – a hotel that combines accommodation with sightseeing. The staff at the entrance and the convenience store inside the hotel were very enthusiastic, which was a big plus. We booked a west-facing room, but you can't see the 101 building from there, so if you want to see Taipei 101, don't book this side.
