Double Pagodas at Baisikou

The two towers are facing each other from east to west, about 100 meters apart. The two towers stand straight on the ground, without a base, and the ground floor is relatively high, with no decorations. The total height of the east tower is about 39 meters, and the tower is in the shape of a cone. Each layer of towel folded angular teeth and folded bricks form waist eaves, and the waist eaves are overhanging. On the top of the tower is an octagonal flat seat, and in the middle of the flat seat is a net-shaped brake seat, which bears the "Thirteen Heavens" treasure temple. Above the second floor, each layer has two painted animal faces on each side, side by side, with wide eyes and exposed fangs, very powerful. The beast face holds painted red beads. Between the animal faces, there are painted clouds with sun and moon patterns. The corners of the tower wall are decorated with colorful sculpture orb flames. The total height of the west tower is about 36 meters, and the proportion of the tower body is coordinated, which is thicker than the east tower. On the second floor and above, the waist eaves are composed of several layers of astringent angular teeth and layers of astringent bricks. The waist is built into a flat seat, and the outer eaves are decorated with round animal head components. On the top of the tower is an octagonal brake seat, and under the eaves of the brake seat, it is decorated with painted lotus petals side by side. The corners are decorated with brick carvings of Lishen. Lishen stands naked and holds a lotus seat in his hands, which looks like a cow. The brake seat bears the "Thirteen Heavens" Baosha. On the second floor, there are painted Buddha statues and decorative patterns on each side of the waist eaves. In the center of the walls on each floor is a rectangular shallow Buddha niche, with painted animals and eight-treasure patterns in the niches, and painted animal faces on both sides of the niches. The animal face is furious and the net is open, the fangs are bared, and the mighty and terrifying. On the upper right side of the Buddhist niche on the twelfth floor on the east side of the West Pagoda, there are Xixia characters. On the armor seat in the east of the tenth floor, there is a complete green glazed beast. The Buddhist niche on the top of the tower has a built-in hexagonal wooden central brake column with a diameter of about 30 cm. The building of the twin towers combines the traditional characteristics of the Central Plains Buddhist pagodas, and combines the art of painting and sculpture to form two majestic and colorful art treasures. In 1986, the state organized forces to reinforce and repair the twin towers. During the repair of the West Tower, a sealed hollow dome was built with a number of cultural relics, including the Mongolian Khanate silver coin "Dachao Tongbao" and the early Yuan Dynasty "Zhongtongbao". Notes, silk "painted Buddhist paintings" (Thangka), "silk paper flowers", wood carvings "Shangle King Kong Double Statue", "wooden vase" and bronze Buddha statues, etc. In 1988, the twin towers were listed as the second batch of key cultural relics protection units by the state.
