Photos of Daotang River

The Daotang River originates from the Chahan Grassland at the western foot of Riyue Mountain and ends at Qinghai Lake in the west. Tibetan compatriots say that it is made by the tears of Princess Wencheng. When Princess Wencheng got married to Tubo and passed by here, she missed her hometown and threw the mirror of the sun and the moon to form the Sun and Moon Mountain. The tears of sadness and tears merged into this river heading west. The Daotang River is the smaller branch of the Qinghai Lake water system. The river meanders, the water is crystal clear, and it looks as charming as a bright ribbon falling on the grassland. More than 200 million years ago, the Qinghai Plateau was a sea. Later, due to the strong crustal movement, the plateau gradually uplifted. However, at first, the water of Qinghai Lake flowed eastward from Riyue Mountain, but Riyue Mountain became higher and higher, Qinghai Lake became a completely closed lake, and the river that was leaking east had to turn to Westward flow. The Daotang River Scenic Area is located next to Daotanghe Town. It is a small area circled by people around the Daotang River. After entering, you can wear Tibetan clothes and ride a yak for a group photo.
