The predecessor of Xingtai Forest Park was the state-owned Changxin Forest Farm in Xingtai County, which was built in 1956. The existing forest area is 5,580 mu and the planned total area is 9,000 mu. In 2004, the Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government developed it into a forest park with a planned total area of 8123 mu. The forest coverage rate in the park reaches 80.7%, and it is known as "a piece of jade on the plain". The park is rich in animal and plant resources, including more than 140 kinds of woody plants of 38 families and nearly 160 kinds of wild animals. The main forest plant landscapes include thousands of acres of Sophora japonica, temperate botanical gardens, breeding nurseries, picking gardens, etc. It is currently a provincial forest park in Hebei.
