If you have, it’s likely for the Shaolin Temple or Longmen grottoes (check out my other posts for a review on those cultural highlights) but it’s not often that YunTai mountain is talked about as a must-go place. Situated in the north of the province, YunTai mountain not only hosts beautiful waterfalls, monkey trails and mountain top temples, but also the Red Rock Gorge. This really took my breath away with miles of stairs up and down the crevice with the characteristic… you’ve guessed it! Red rocks! The whole scenic area is easily accessible via tourist bus, cable car and boat!

Yuntai Shan, Monkey Kingdom! This is the place where you can meet these animals. They are accustomed to human but monkeys are monkeys, so, please, be careful, especially on the road going through the forest, where is complete wildlife area. Monkeys are not restricted and free to move anywhere. The precautions ate necessary. But our little brothers will be very glad to get a piece of bread from your hand. This visit was very interesting. It could be told thus place is too much cold for monkeys, yes, they are mostly met at southern provinces, not in central China, but these wild packs are adopted to the northern territories and feel very good.

Yuntai Mountain in January 2021. Winter adventure into the frozen mountain, a sight for sour eyes and a heart warming natural wonder. I weekend or even week day getaway for a family, for couples or for a solo traveler, having fun in the snow and taking Instagram worthy pictures of the frozen waterfalls. Yuntai Shan Geopark. Red Rock Gorge. The Geopark area is huge and contains several unbelievably amazing locations. Red Rock Gorge is one if them. Just take a scenic spot bus from entrance gate and proceed until next stop, there will be the beginning of path leading to the Red Gorge. The canyons are so beautiful! This is adventure that makes illusion you were transferred to Jurassic period. Red cliffs and blue water together created unique place.

Let's go on a trip on a whim! I intended to avoid the May Day peak, but it turns out that the weekend is still quite crowded. Yuntai Mountain has three major scenic areas, and tickets for entry and transportation are essential purchases. The total cost for three days is 180, which is quite a bargain. We stayed in the Cloud Top Service Area, where many homestays are very distinctive, with prices ranging from over 100 to four or five hundred. If you are not traveling in a large group, you can try your luck with accommodations when you arrive and find a high-value place to stay. Food is also convenient, with a street full of snacks! The prices are moderate, and for a scenic area, it's quite acceptable. Xiaozhaigou is suitable for planning a trip of half a day or more. The entrance to the scenic spot is great for eating, drinking, and taking photos. Xiaozhaigou has plenty of water, so don't forget the water guns if you bring children! Hongshi Gorge is crowded because the paths are narrow. There are not many places to linger in this scenic area because people keep moving forward. However, in this April, there are super many cicadas, a big feature, visible everywhere. When you enter the scenic area, the sky is full of cicada songs. At first, I thought it was a recording, but then I saw more and more little cicadas and realized they were real. I wonder what kind of microenvironment has attracted all the cicadas from the surrounding area to congregate here. For those who want to travel by cable car to visit Zhu Yu Peak and Phoenix Ridge, it is recommended to go up Zhu Yu Peak and down Phoenix Ridge! This way, you are going from high to low, and the whole journey won't be too tiring. If you want to have a good time, it is recommended to spend two full days. If you can spend three days, you might have even more fun. After all, the official 'daddy' gives us a three-day ticket validity, so three days should be the most scientific travel time! If your legs are still strong, this is a highly recommended scenic spot.

📍Qinglongxia Scenic Area I went to Qinglongxia with friends for a self-driving trip from Zhengzhou over the weekend! Everywhere was picturesque, stepping into the summer of nature! We set off around ten in the morning, had lunch at the foot of the mountain before going up, and arrived around noon——at the Qinglongxia parking lot. There's little walking involved, with many activities to enjoy! The river water is ice-cold! Highly recommended!!!! . ⚠️: Essential preparations before you go: ID card, student ID, sun protection clothing (it's not hot, very cool but some places are sunny), sandals or slippers!!! Must bring! 1️⃣ Ticket purchase: Right in front of the parking lot is the ticket hall, I personally think it's a must to buy a through ticket online (cable car + entrance ticket + bus ticket), which is very cost-effective, much cheaper than buying separately. 2️⃣ Take the bus: Inside the hall, check your ticket and take the bus without waiting, the kind that leaves as soon as you board!!! The bus ride takes about 20 minutes, and it will take you up the mountain to the scenic spot. 3️⃣ Water play preparation: Right after getting off the bus, you can buy fishing nets and water guns! Each costs five yuan, and the water in the scenic area is carried up the mountain by people, so the price is high, five yuan per bucket. In the morning, you can stroll around the nearby mountains and forests, and it's also close to a street full of delicacies, making travel very convenient.
