Kunming Shaolin Temple is located in the center of Guandu Ancient Town, Guandu District, Kunming City. With the Jingang Pagoda as the core, it consists of the ancient buildings of Miaozhan Temple, the ancient buildings of legal temples, the ancient buildings of Tuzhu Temple, the buildings of Guanyin Temple, and the cultural square around Jingang Pagoda. It also consists of the meditation hall, lecture hall, Buddhist chanting hall, martial arts hall, museum to be built in the north and west of the ancient buildings of Miaozhan Temple, and Kunming Shaolin Culture International College (formerly Pioneer Middle School) located in Guandu Town. On November 24, 2008, Guandu District of Kunming City and Songshan Shaolin Temple signed a trusteeship agreement at the Shaolin Temple Tibetan Scripture Pavilion, stipulating that Shaolin Temple will send monks to Kunming Miaozhan Temple, Legal Temple, Guanyin Temple and Tuzhu Temple. The ancient temple is managed and given a certain space for the construction of the inheritance and development of Shaolin culture here. This is the first time in the history of Shaolin Temple that other temples have been entrusted. The signing of this agreement marks the birth of "Yunnan Shaolin". On December 13, 2008, Shaolin will send more than a dozen monks, with scriptures and Shaolin Chan, Wu, and Yi Zong, to stay in four ancient temples. Just like when Buddhism came to the east, the trusteeship of Shaolin Temple will not only polish the signboards for the four ancient temples, but also bring them advanced management models and sophisticated cultural heritage. After the official takeover, it will be managed according to the Shaolin Temple's philosophy of governing the temple and management mode, combined with the local reality. The Shaolin Chan Wu culture, which has existed for more than 1,500 years, has taken root and sprouted by the Dianchi Lake, which is like spring all year round.
Kunming Shaolin Temple is the original Miaozhan Temple. It was built in the Yuan Dynasty and was taken over by Shaolin Temple in Lushan in 2009, named Kunming Shaolin Temple. But now the scorpion hanging above the temple is still Miaozhan Temple. There is no door open, I don't know how it is inside.
As people who have seen and been to Shaolin Temple, I really didn't expect that there was a Shaolin Temple in Kunming, which may be South Shaolin. However, the area of this Shaolin Temple is not as large as the area of Shaolin Temple in the North Central Plains. But he and Guandu ancient town put together how much fame has improved a little.
Yes, everyone is not wrong. There is also a temple in Kunming called Shaolin Temple. He is different from our Shaolin Temple in Henan. The area of this Shaolin Temple is not so large, and its architectural style is quite special. These architectural styles together constitute the Civilization Pavilion complex, if you like this building, you may as well come to Kunming when you take a moment to come here to see, after all, winter Kunming is the same warmth, the same beauty.
As a Henanese, it was a pleasant surprise to see Shaolin Temple in Yunnan.
Close to the entrance to the east of Guandu Ancient Town, behind the Miaozhan Twin Towers, it should be the same place as Miaozhan Temple. The area here is not very large. It is free to open during the day. Unfortunately, it is closed at night when you visit here. You can only come again next time.
Kunming also has a Shaolin Temple in Guandu Ancient Town, also known as Miaozhan Temple, the first of Guandu Six Temples. The main buildings include the Temple of Heavenly Kings, the Luohan Palace, the Daxiong Palace, the Pilu Palace, the Guangming Palace, and the Miaode Pavilion.
