2-Star Hotels in Gunma Prefecture, Japan

This was my first and only stay at a ryokan so I don’t have much to compare it to. I chose this lodging because of the cats and good reviews on the food. The cats were really sweet and I enjoyed playing with them. I have 2 cats of my own so it was really nice. The food was so beautiful and delicious - the mushroom soup at dinner was amazing. I really enjoyed it. The private bath rooms were very convenient and open 24 hrs. I thought the facilities were clean and very pleasant. The location was very close to the central area and a quick walk to all the important sites including the bus station. The only comment I have was in the morning someone was smoking and the smell got ****** into the 2nd floor hallway so maybe more care should be taken to be sure the smoke stays outside. The host was so nice and sweet and I used google translate to ask questions. The matcha madeleines are so tasty I bought a box to take with me.

It was better than any other inn I've stayed at so far. The futons were fluffy, the bathroom was clean, and the breakfast was full of vegetables. It was the best inn. I was surprised more than anything by how nice the people were.

The room facilities are a bit old. But because it is close to the station, it only takes 6-7 minutes to walk and it is very cheap. It's okay to stay for one night After checking out. Because the luggage has been stored in the hotel. It's raining heavily again. So I asked the hotel to borrow an umbrella. It rained all day and I went back to get my luggage at night. My mother-in-law is very nice. She gave me the umbrella (but I didn’t want it). She is really considerate❤️

The dishes are ok, and the breakfast is a bit disappointing. It is all carbon water, and the hot spring eggs are not. The geographical location is an extra point. This town has many mountain roads. His home is a 1-minute walk from the bus station, and it will not be very tired to go up and down, let alone ask the hotel to drive to pick it up. According to these circumstances, it is okay to give 4 points, but I don't recommend everyone to live, because this house has hidden charges, and in winter it will charge 500 warm house fee and 150 hot spring water tax. There is no mention on the booking page. If the hot spring tax is not unfamiliar to people who frequent Japan, what is called the warm house fee is very strange. Communicate with the store. They showed me their official website, which means that there is a statement. I said that I didn't set it on the official website. I have no way of knowing it. I prefer to believe that the owner ’s idea is pure and not intentional, but doing business is very frustrating. No wonder it takes up such a good position and does not renovate. Similar hotels that have been renovated next door can sell twice as much. Of course, the result of the matter itself is still good. This hidden charge problem was later subsidized to me by Ctrip. I praised Ctrip customer service and dealt with it in a particularly efficient and professional manner. The reasons for not recommending are: 1. Difficulty in communication. I went to the next few places and visited. Although the English is not fluent, it is obviously much better. There are local characteristics (I changed to the hotel the next day); 3. The family room didn't include breakfast. It had a spacious living room and bedroom. The free parking was a bit far, but still manageable, as the staff would help drive the car to the parking lot and carry your luggage to the room. The manager then gave a very detailed explanation of the hot spring facilities (using Google Translate), which took quite a while. They said it was a hot spring where adding cold water was allowed in small quantities! I quickly realized that to enjoy the original hot spring water, they didn't add a single drop, allowing it to cool naturally to around 45 degrees Celsius. For me, that was too hot and completely unacceptable. Luckily, we added a lot of water here, and it was comfortable. Even the kids dared to come in!

Opposite the hotel, there are about 10 free parking spaces, suitable for self-driving people, the hotel's large bath is only for men; In addition, the lady stays, if you make an appointment to a private style, it will be good. Breakfast is in 8/F, so the view is very good.

To begin with, the service counter that received us at the counter was very professional, well-mannered and accommodating! Then we were presently surprised that there was actually curry rice available for dinner FOC! The room was super clean and the view of Mount haruna was so beautifully presented right at our window. The hotel also have sauna that you can visit FOC from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m., 5:00 p.m. to midnight. Even breakfast are included! All these for the price of less than 40 Singapore dollars per night!

The place is far from the city so it’s actually pretty hard to access to this place. But the owner is really nice, she helped us with a lot of stuff, including with luggage transfer and taking us back to the train station. She also made us food because she’s worried we’re not eating enough and it’s cold. On top of that, if you are planning to go snowboarding or skiing there is a shuttle bus near by that takes you to the Kawaba ski resort for free!

The location is perfect, right on the main square. But this ryokan doesn’t ready for foreign travelers, even Signboard only in Japanese. Workers doesn’t speak English also. And there is no kayseki dinner. In the room you’ll have matcha tea and beautiful tableware, traditional clothes. For breakfast you should choose time 7:30 or 8:30 and it’s so big (2 photo), but for me was very salty. There is two onsen - outside and inside on different floors.
