The environment and design of Wantoo B&B are warm and comfortable, and the coffee shop in the courtyard has a very romantic ambiance. The rooms are clean and cozy, and the breakfast is well-balanced. The owner, who prepares breakfast, mentioned that the breakfast menu changes daily, but unfortunately, we only stayed for two days, and indeed, the breakfasts were different on both days. The front desk lady had an excellent service attitude. Since there aren't many supermarkets in the old town, it's hard to find fruit, but she kindly gave us apples and pears. The B&B offers free bicycles and tricycles, and spending a day cycling freely around the old town was truly delightful. It was a genuinely great experience.

A rather mediocre experience. I've been a Ctrip member for 15 years and rarely leave bad reviews, so I'll give this a passing grade of 3.0. The main reasons for the average experience were: 1. My baby had a fever in the middle of the night and couldn't get up the next day. I wanted to take some breakfast back to the room, but they wouldn't allow it, and the staff's attitude was quite stiff. At over 1700 RMB for two nights for three adults and one child, the price wasn't cheap. Since the hotel couldn't be understanding towards me, I can't be understanding towards them in my rating. 2. There must be floor heating or central air conditioning, because the room was extremely dry, even drier than indoors in Beijing during the heating season.

High-floor scenic room, 55 square meters, with large floor-to-ceiling windows offering stunning views. Facilities: The interior is very smart, and the large heated bed was very comfortable and warm. Hygiene: The bathroom and the room itself were very clean. Environment: The environment was excellent. Service: The front desk staff was very enthusiastic and even helped arrange a car to take us to the Xixi Gate parking lot. It's perfect for a family trip. Most importantly, it's on South Street, making it very close and convenient to attractions like Xie Tong Qing and Ri Sheng Chang.

Let's start with the positives: The hotel's location is excellent, very close to the Drum Tower. Famous restaurants and popular snack spots are all nearby. Huayan Temple, Shanhua Temple, and the ancient city wall are all within walking distance. It's a great choice if you're traveling with elderly family members or children, as you can easily return to rest whenever you get tired from sightseeing. The service is also very good, from the guest rooms to the restaurant staff. The downside is that the hotel is quite old, and the facilities are a bit dated, though they do have all the essentials. During this season, the rooms can get a bit stuffy and dry. Our room had a screen door for ventilation, but not all rooms have one. Overall, I'd recommend this hotel for first-time visitors to Datong.

They offered afternoon tea upon check-in and cocktails in the evening, which felt very special. The location is superb, right above a commercial area, making it very convenient. My friend and I booked two rooms for our trip, and she loved it too.

Its main advantage is its excellent location; it's very convenient for exploring, and you can easily pop back for a rest when you get tired. **Service:** The staff were very service-oriented. When we arrived, there weren't many guests, and the service was very attentive. **Breakfast:** It's not a buffet; it's a fixed-menu breakfast, like a 'nine-grid' style. It looks very appealing, and the taste is decent enough to fill you up. Overall, it's a good stay. Naturally, for this price point within the ancient city, you shouldn't compare it to hotels of the same price outside. It's incomparable, primarily due to its superb geographical advantage.

This was the best hotel of my entire trip. It was spotless, andvery well laid out around small courtyards. If I were traveling with a large family , I would request rooms on the first floor that open out into the same courtyard . There were multiple common spaces that were comfortable and interesting. The laundry room was properly equipped and the staff showed me how to use the appliances. Breakfast was delicious, with a variety of hot dishes, noodles made to order, a coffee machine with excellent coffee, and fresh fruit. The hotel was well located. It fronts onto a quiet tidy alley, one block from the chaotic (and fun) pedestrian food street and shopping street. It was an easy walk to the Shanxi Province group of museums. I do have a few suggestions. 1. My taxi from the train station could not find the hotel. He left me nearby but I wandered around dragging my suitcase for a good half hour until the six people who joined in to help, were successful! It would help to improve the location identifiers in Amap, and any other map a guest or taxi driver might need. 2. When I asked the front desk for help arranging a taxi to the train station the afternoon before my departure, I was given to understand that I should just go out and hail a taxi the following morning. At 7:00am, there were no taxis anywhere nearby. I ended up walking a kilometer with my bags to take the subway. So…even though the service is great, don’t count on hotel help with transfers. Leave yourself plenty of time and have a “plan B” when you depart. The location is not easy for a taxi to find - cars cannot enter that alley!

The service was equally impressive. From the moment I walked in, the front desk staff greeted me with smiles, processed my check-in very efficiently, and even thoughtfully asked about my travel plans, offering tips for local sightseeing. Seeing me with luggage, they proactively helped carry it to the elevator. It’s these small details that truly show their dedication, and this just-right level of warmth made me feel incredibly welcome. (The front desk gentleman who checked me in that day was very patient, though I didn't catch his name.) Now, about the room experience – it truly surprised me. The room was spacious, well-laid-out, and had fantastic natural light. The bedding was soft and gentle on the skin, and there were multiple pillow options. As someone who values good sleep quality, I had a wonderfully restful night. The cleanliness was impeccable; every corner was spotless. The wet/dry separation in the bathroom was also a thoughtful touch, and the toiletries were of good quality. You can really tell the hotel pays attention to details. The breakfast also deserves praise. The restaurant environment was elegant, the ingredients fresh, and dishes were refilled promptly. The staff were also very diligent in clearing plates, ensuring a great start to the day. Overall, this stay far exceeded my expectations. Both the facilities and the soft services demonstrated the hotel's professionalism and attentiveness. It offers excellent value for money. The next time I visit Datong, this will definitely be my first choice, and I'll be recommending it to all my friends!
