Hotel near Shiquan Street/Pan Gate Scenic Area,Suzhou

We had a perfect stay at Pan Pacific Suzhou! The suite was incredibly spacious and comfortable, consisting of two connected rooms. One room featured a king-size bed, a large living room, and a luxurious bathroom with a huge bathtub. The second room had two single beds, which was perfect for our two adult children. The layout was very thoughtful, with two separate bathrooms and toilets, plus an additional guest toilet in the living room. With four of us staying together, we never had to wait for the bathroom — a huge convenience! The hotel grounds are absolutely stunning, featuring beautiful gardens, traditional architecture, and a pagoda, making it feel like a scenic attraction in itself. As a special bonus, the hotel provided a complimentary 60-minute Hanfu experience, allowing us to take wonderful photos around the property. Honestly, the hotel is so beautiful that you could easily spend a day exploring the grounds without leaving. Another thoughtful touch was that each room was provided with an entire carton of bottled mineral water, which was greatly appreciated. Overall, an exceptional stay with spacious accommodations, beautiful surroundings, and excellent hospitality. We would definitely stay here again when visiting Suzhou!

I was really happy with the overall service, and I was even able to check in early. The original room I was assigned was a bit small, but the lovely lady at the front desk kindly upgraded me to a larger room with a better view, free of charge. All the front desk staff were wonderful, and they even offered me a bottle of water before I left. Highly recommended!

The hotel kindly upgraded me to Building 11 at Hongqiao Fang. This time, they also included a couple's package for Slender West Lake Hot Spring Resort, which came with a 20 yuan voucher I used for ice cream and grilled sausage. The hotel also offered a free freshly squeezed watermelon juice if you posted a review on Xiaohongshu. The scenery within the State Guesthouse is picturesque, and the area around Qu Garden Teahouse is like a small corner of Slender West Lake itself – absolutely beautiful. The hotel also has a hidden gem: you can book a 'Bathing Time' service for the evening through their WeChat official account. There are four options: a rose bath, a skin-brightening sweet orange bath, a relaxing lavender bath, and a parent-child option. You need to book in advance, but if it's fully booked, a quick word with the front desk usually sorts it out. This was for a weekday stay; I'm not sure about weekends. Here are some of the complimentary services I've discovered and unlocked while staying at the hotel: 1. **Swan Lake**: You can ask the front desk for free swan and fish food (unlimited supply) to feed the swans, ducks, and koi. 2. **Shuttle Service**: Free shuttle to the swimming pool, Qu Garden, or any other building. There's also a free mini-train tour of the gardens with commentary. 3. **Spring Water Swimming Pool**: Absolutely no chlorine smell! The 50-meter lap pool has floor-to-ceiling windows offering stunning garden views. It would be a huge miss not to go for a swim if you're staying here. 4. **Bathing Time**

Bringing my kid to Nanjing this time, staying at Jinling Hotel was absolutely the right choice! First, let's talk about transportation. There's a subway station right downstairs, making it super convenient to get to any attraction. With a little one, not having to transfer saves so much hassle and energy. Plus, it's right next to the Xinjiekou Zhongshan South Road mall, so it's just a short walk to grab bubble tea or snacks in the evening. The breakfast deserves a special shout-out; my kid couldn't stop eating! And I was really looking forward to the duck blood and vermicelli soup – it was authentic, with a rich broth and plenty of ingredients. Starting the day with a bowl of that was just perfect. It's also very close to the Nanjing Museum, just three subway stops away, which was great for taking my child to learn about history. The whole trip felt perfectly planned. Overall, our stay was very comfortable, and I'll definitely choose this place again next time I'm in Nanjing!

Before check-in, I received a message from Luanne at the hotel, who thoughtfully reminded us of all the details we hadn't even considered and made excellent arrangements. A big wish of mine when returning to Nanjing and staying at the Zifeng InterContinental was to see my alma mater, and this time it was perfectly realized. I saw my alma mater embracing the purple aura of Zijin Mountain, a moment I'll remember for a long time.

This place is perfect for business trips! It's quiet, spacious, and super close to the high-speed rail station. Plus, they offer coffee and late-night snacks, which is a lifesaver for us workers, haha. I think it'd be great for tourists too, because the rooms are genuinely huge and have everything you need. The staff also make you feel really safe and well taken care of! 👌👌

Throughout my stay, I was deeply impressed by the hotel's meticulous service. The front desk staff were warm and patient, making the check-in process quick and efficient. They proactively introduced the hotel's facilities and local attractions. Housekeeping tidied the room regularly and replenished amenities promptly. Any requests made to the front desk were met with a quick response and a polite, gentle attitude. The public areas were cleaned daily, free of any unpleasant odors, and the elevator control system ensured high security, which gave me great peace of mind traveling with elderly family members and children. From the moment we arrived with guidance and luggage assistance, to handling various minor requests later on, everything was managed properly without any perfunctory treatment. The service was professional and warm, and the attention to detail made the entire trip comfortable and relaxing. My impression of this hotel is absolutely fantastic; it definitely deserves a five-star review! - Scallop Starfish

Located in the heart of Yaohu Town, Lakeside Mansion was upgraded to a more comfortable room by the front desk manager. Leo provided warm and attentive service, calling to confirm our arrival time before check-in and picking us up after we arrived in the town. He also patiently explained the things to know about visiting Yaohu Town. The hotel's large viewing terrace offers a clear view of the nighttime Dragon Soaring Water Show and fireworks.

We were three college roommates reuniting after many years, and we booked a family room. It had one large bed and one small bed, which was perfect for us to chat and catch up. The location of this family room was fantastic; it offered views of both Yunlong Mountain and Yunlong Lake. The room itself was quite spacious, and the scenery outside the window was beautiful. The service was also excellent; they even brought us some small desserts to the room. I'm definitely planning to stay here again next time I bring my kids.

Traveling to Nanjing for the weekend, I chose the Shangri-La Hotel Nanjing by Xuanwu Lake. The reception staff was incredibly kind, attentive, and lovely. The room they arranged was perfect, especially the air conditioning which was remarkably quiet. The bathroom was spacious and even had a dressing table and a small leather chair, which was a delightful surprise! The breakfast was bountiful, featuring freshly made soup dumplings, duck blood vermicelli, and even Meiling porridge, all local Nanjing specialties. It was very convenient to go for a morning workout by Xuanwu Lake right next door, making for a healthy and invigorating experience. We also got to visit the helipad upstairs for some great photo opportunities. All in all, Shangri-La Nanjing greatly enhanced our weekend trip, filling our memories with romantic pink hues. Excellent value for money, highly recommended!

GGuest UserThe hotel is located on a pedestrian street, so if you're arriving by car, you'll need to get off at the street entrance and walk 100-200 meters to reach it. The hotel spans both sides of the pedestrian street, making it easy to find. The hotel is housed in an antique building. Given its age, some of the facilities are a bit old, but it's still well-maintained. I really liked the vintage decor in the room. From my room, I could see the Qinhuai River and watch boats pass by. The hotel is conveniently located near attractions like the Confucius Temple and boat tours. It's a bit of a walk to the subway station, but still manageable. The staff provided excellent service. It's definitely worth experiencing.

GGuest UserThis was my second stay. Last time, I came with my partner, and this time I specifically brought my parents along. The hotel's location is superb, and its garden-style design perfectly captures the essence of Suzhou. The room's cleanliness was satisfactory, and the towels came in sealed bags, which made us feel very reassured. The citrus-scented amenities and the fragrance from the incense cones on the table were also lovely, giving the room a cozy, homely feel. I especially want to commend the hotel's cultural guided tour service. Our guide, Xiao Xu, was exceptionally professional. Not only was he well-versed in historical facts, but he also added many fascinating, little-known details. We were fortunate enough to visit Building 7 this time, which was a wonderful bonus experience. Furthermore, the staff were incredibly thoughtful; seeing us a bit warm after the tour, they proactively offered us fans. This kind of subtle yet attentive service truly deserves praise. Before checking out, remember to get a souvenir stamp at the front desk. Overall, the experience was fantastic, making it a reliable and trustworthy place to stay for a trip to Suzhou.

PPinganshidaoI originally booked a Classic Room package. The front desk staff suggested upgrading to a Balcony Room, which is 30 square meters larger, for an additional 500 RMB. I took their advice, and after comparing, I think it was worth it because not only did I get more space, but also a large balcony and double breakfast. The room was high-ceilinged and cool, the air conditioning was comfortable, and the mattress was very pleasant. There were many books in the room to browse. The bathroom had a double vanity, but I was a little disappointed that not every sink had both hand soap and lotion. The left sink had hand soap, and the right one had lotion. So, if you wanted to wash your hands, you went to the left sink, and then to the right sink for lotion after washing. The two sinks were quite far apart with a large bathtub in the middle. I hope the hotel can be a bit more generous and provide both items at each sink, which would be much more convenient. From the moment I entered the hotel, the service felt like I was entering my own home. There were complimentary snacks, and the tea served was also good. All the staff greeted me with proactive smiles. The breakfast selection wasn't extensive, but everything was high quality, though there's room for improvement with the Western pastries. This trip, I specifically went for the noodles at Su Mian Fang. The service and taste were absolutely incredible, though the price was a bit on the high side. I wanted to eat them again. I'm not sure if it's because I rarely eat Su noodles and am therefore less knowledgeable, or if they truly are considered a delicacy among Suzhou noodles. Additionally, the hotel's environment is very Suzhou-like, and it's located by the lake in front of the Gate of the Orient.

BBugeitangjiudaodan~The top choice for a night tour of Qinhuai in Nanjing! The four-season king room at the Nigh Park Qinhuai Junting Hotel exceeded my expectations. The location is absolutely fantastic, just a short walk to Fuzi Temple and the Qinhuai River, offering a tranquil escape right in the bustling area. The room itself boasts a new Chinese elegant and grand style, with a spacious and airy feel. The KingKoil mattress ensured a sound sleep, the bedding was skin-friendly, and the soundproofing was excellent. The bathroom features a wet/dry separation, L'Occitane amenities, a Dyson hairdryer, and a complimentary mini-bar – every detail was meticulously thought out. Opening the window reveals the illuminated riverbank, and in the evening, leaning on the railing to watch the boats pass by creates an incredible ambiance. The service was gentle and attentive, check-in was efficient, and the breakfast was exquisite and delicious. If you're coming to Nanjing and want to fall asleep to the sounds of oars and the glow of lanterns, this is absolutely the right choice.

MMD2024This time, I stayed at Mo Keyuan from August 14th to 15th. When I was choosing a hotel, I was quite surprised to see Mo Keyuan had nothing but glowing reviews. After staying there, I realized that both its facilities and service are indeed exceptional. **Ambiance & Location:** In terms of its location, it's merely 50 meters from Pingjiang Road, and within comfortable walking distance of Humble Administrator's Garden, Lion Grove Garden, and Suzhou Museum. It's also nestled in the same alley as the famous Zhuo Lin Li Tang Zhou (a traditional dessert shop), just 20-30 meters away, and shares an adjacent alley with Couple's Retreat Garden. This geographical positioning is simply superb! The hotel itself is a numbered private garden with five interconnected courtyards, boasting exquisite rockeries, ponds, and bridges. Its design is incredibly intricate, offering distinct scenic views with every turn. Guanhuatang, a key hall, is the central room in the innermost of these five courtyards. The front desk is located in the first courtyard, exuding an antique charm. Upon entering the second courtyard, you're greeted by a misty, ethereal atmosphere, providing a refreshing coolness on hot days and adding a wonderful artistic touch. The third courtyard houses the banquet hall, while the fourth and fifth are dedicated to guest rooms. In reality, this compound is far more complex than it appears, with the unique asymmetrical structure typical of Suzhou gardens revealing many delightful surprises. **Cleanliness:** Everywhere I looked was impeccably clean. Unlike other Chinese courtyards I've stayed in, at Mo Keyuan, all areas (except guest rooms and staff offices) are openly accessible. Furthermore, the furniture inside is exceptionally well-maintained and clean, giving the impression that they are actively used daily. The rooms were subtly pre-scented with incense, and the bathrooms were also spotless. **Facilities:** Mo Keyuan boasts comprehensive facilities, offering both dining options and captivating Pingtan (Suzhou storytelling and ballad singing) performances. Guests can enjoy these performances for free, held in a charming small hall in the second courtyard, which serves as both a restaurant and a performance venue. The performance hall is very well-equipped, featuring background projection and automatic stage curtains, truly showing great attention to detail. Furthermore, before checking in, I was somewhat concerned about security. However, upon arrival, I found that the visitor and guest areas are effectively separated by access control, ensuring both privacy and safety. **Service:** The service was incredibly attentive. The butler was always ready to answer any questions and had an excellent, friendly attitude. Every staff member had a great service attitude and was remarkably patient. Due to a last-minute change in our itinerary, we only decided quite late that we wanted to have lunch at Mo Keyuan the next day. However, the butler arranged it perfectly, and we got to savor the Squirrel-shaped Mandarin Fish and Crab Roe Tofu we had hoped for. The hotel's shuttle service was even more convenient, saving us precious time and effort when visiting the Humble Administrator's Garden, Suzhou Museum, and Lion Grove Garden. We also had the pleasure of meeting the garden owner this time, who was very approachable and clearly poured their heart and soul into managing this exquisite garden. **Daily Pingtan Performance (2 Tickets):** The Pingtan performance was excellent. The young lady sang beautifully and spoke with such gentle grace; experiencing the 'Wu Nong Soft Language' (Suzhou dialect) live was truly delightful. The performance also included complimentary Biluochun tea and homemade mung bean cakes, making it a truly enjoyable experience. I'm extremely glad I chose Mo Keyuan this time. My only regret is not being able to stay an extra night to spend half a day simply wandering around the garden, sipping tea, watching the fish, and relaxing – that would have been utterly tranquil and perfect.

AAnonymous User⭐ Suzhou Shantang Shuxiang Mansion | Prime Location, But 5-Star Quality Doesn't Justify 5-Star Price (3-Day, 2-Night Honest Review) 📍 Location: ★★★★★ (Irreplaceable) ✅ Right in the heart of Shantang Street scenic area (No. 88 Shantang Street). Step out and you're on the ancient street, perfect for exploring and dining. ✅ Quiet yet central: Outside, it's the bustling city life; inside, it's a Suzhou-style garden with white walls, black tiles, and flowing water – incredibly atmospheric. ✅ Convenient transportation: About a 7-minute walk to Shantang Street Metro Station, making it easy to get to attractions like Humble Administrator's Garden and Tiger Hill by taxi or subway. 🏡 Facilities & Environment: Garden is a plus, details are a minus ✔️ Highlights: Converted from a Ming and Qing dynasty guild hall, with a Chinese courtyard and carved window frames – great for ancient-style photos; rooms are individual villas, offering good privacy. ❌ Drawbacks (unacceptable for a 5-star hotel): • Facilities are a bit old (renovated in 2016), with some furniture wear and tear and aging fixtures. Lacks the refinement of a 5-star hotel. • Cleaning blind spots: Dust in corners, obvious water stains on bathroom glass; encountered a cockroach on the first day (promptly handled, but still unpleasant). • Soundproofing is average: Street-facing rooms can hear street noise, so it's not absolutely quiet. 🛎️ Service: Good attitude, but lacks professionalism ✔️ Basic service is up to par: Bellhops help with luggage, smooth check-in/check-out process; free Pingtan performances in the afternoon, and Hanfu experience available by reservation. ❌ 5-star service shortcomings: • Slow response: Calling the butler/front desk often results in a wait of over 15 minutes, with no proactive greetings or follow-ups. • Lack of detail: No turndown service; breakfast selection is limited and quality is average, lacking the variety of a 5-star buffet. 💰 Value for Money: Location seriously overpriced, quality doesn't match the price • Room rates are approximately 1200-2000 RMB/night. The core premium comes from its rare location within the Shantang scenic area. • Compared to other 5-star hotels at the same price point (e.g., InterContinental, Marriott), there are significant gaps in facilities, service, and dining. It feels more like a high-end garden guesthouse than a luxury hotel. ✅ Summary & Recommendations (Expert's Honest Opinion) Suitable for: • Travelers seeking an immersive Jiangnan garden experience in a prime location, with a generous budget, who prioritize atmosphere over facilities. • Those who enjoy ancient-style photography, exploring Shantang Street, and prefer not to rush around. Not suitable for: • Business travelers or quality-conscious guests who expect standard 5-star service, refined facilities, and absolute privacy/quietness. • Travelers seeking high value for money and unwilling to pay a high premium for location. In a nutshell: Irreplaceable location, but not truly 5-star quality. Choose based on your needs, and book rationally.

GGuest UserThe place is beautiful. The rooms/cottages of the hotel are spread around a nice area. There is a vegetable garden and kids could feed the goats and rabbit. My kids loved the hotel and the room. Front desk gave us kids slippers and toothbrushes and a bag full of treats and snacks for the kids. Beds were very comfortable and the family room was beautiful with a balcony looking to the canal. Black swans swimming in there. The private outside hot bathtub was cool. They gave us some activity tickets (kids cookies baking, two free coffee cups and free entrance to the park beside), sadly we couldn’t use them, because we came noon and went to visit a different area , then left the next day after breakfast. The outside hotel surroundings are nice and peaceful. The food was great! Breakfast buffet is delicious. I would recommend it. There was a staff speaking English, but was not necessary for us. The service is very good and friendly…I’ll return.
