What Is UK Tax Refund for Tourists?

The UK tourist tax refund is a scheme that allows eligible non-resident visitors to reclaim VAT paid on qualifying retail purchases made in the UK. Post-Brexit (January 2021), this scheme is no longer available in Great Britain (England, Scotland, Wales)—tourists cannot claim VAT refunds on in-store purchases there.
Only Northern Ireland maintains limited VAT refund provisions for non-UK residents, aligning with some EU-related tax rules. The core purpose is to reduce the cost of retail purchases for international visitors, but strict eligibility and process rules apply. It does not cover services (e.g., hotels, restaurants), food, or books (which are 0% VAT).
Types of UK Tax Refund
UK tax refunds are mainly categorized by applicant type and location, with two key types relevant to tourists and visitors:
- Tourist VAT Refund (Northern Ireland Only): For non-UK residents visiting Northern Ireland, reclaiming VAT on qualifying retail purchases (clothing, electronics, jewelry, etc.). Not available in Great Britain since 2021.
- Tax Rebates for Temporary Workers/Expatriates: For individuals working in the UK (e.g., seasonal workers, expats) who overpaid income tax or National Insurance Contributions (NICs). This is not a tourist refund and requires proof of overpayment (e.g., P60, P45 forms).
- Business VAT Refund: For UK-registered businesses or non-UK businesses with taxable purchases in the UK, claiming back VAT on business-related expenses. This applies to companies, not individual tourists.
UK VAT Tax Refund Rate: How Much Can You Get?

The UK has three VAT rates, but only the standard rate applies to most tourist purchases eligible for refund (where available):
- Standard VAT Rate: 20% (applies to most retail goods, e.g., clothing, electronics, luxury items)—this is the rate used for refund calculations.
- Reduced VAT Rate: 5% (applies to utilities, some medical equipment)—rarely relevant for tourists, as these items are not typical tourist purchases.
- Zero VAT Rate: 0% (applies to essentials like most food, children’s clothing, books, public transport)—no VAT to refund, so these items are ineligible.
Important Note: The 20% rate is the tax included in the purchase price, not the amount you get back. To calculate: If you pay £120 for an item (including 20% VAT), the VAT component is £20 (original price £100). However, tax refund companies charge a processing fee (usually 3-8% of the total purchase), so the actual refund you receive is ~12% of the total paid (e.g., £14.40 for a £120 item). No additional fees apply if claiming directly via HMRC (for eligible business/worker refunds).
Who Is Eligible for UK Tax Refund?
Eligibility varies by refund type; for tourist VAT refunds (Northern Ireland only), the criteria are strict:
- You are a non-UK resident (not living in the UK for more than 6 months/year) and not a citizen of the UK or EU.
- You are visiting Northern Ireland (not Great Britain) and will leave the UK/EU within 3 months of purchasing the goods.
- The goods are purchased from a retailer participating in the VAT refund scheme (look for “Tax Free Shopping” signs).
- The goods are for personal use, new, and will be taken out of the UK/EU (not used in the UK before departure).
- Single purchase meets the retailer’s minimum threshold (usually £30 per store).
Ineligible Groups: UK/EU residents, tourists in Great Britain (England/Scotland/Wales), travelers staying in the UK for more than 6 months, and those purchasing services or zero-rate goods.
How to Get UK Tax Refund? Step-by-Step Process

The process applies to eligible tourist refunds in Northern Ireland (Great Britain has no tourist VAT refund process). Follow these steps for a smooth claim:
- Shop at Participating Retailers: Look for “Tax Free Shopping” signs (e.g., Harrods, Selfridges, Bicester Village in Northern Ireland, or local participating stores). Inform the cashier you want to claim a VAT refund and present your passport (or travel document).
- Complete the Tax Refund Form: The retailer will provide a VAT refund form (digital or paper). Fill in your personal details (name, passport number, address, destination), purchase details (item, price, VAT amount), and refund method (cash or card).
- Get the Form Stamped by Customs: Before departing Northern Ireland (via airport/port), go to the customs desk with your refund form, passport, boarding pass, and the purchased goods (customs may inspect them). Customs will stamp the form to confirm the goods are leaving the UK/EU.
- Submit the Stamped Form: Submit the stamped form to the tax refund company (e.g., Global Blue, Planet Tax Free) at the airport/port desk, or mail it to the address provided on the form. For online claims (business/worker rebates), submit via HMRC’s personal tax account or app.
- Receive Your Refund: Choose your refund method—cash (instant at airport desks, minus fees) or credit/debit card (processed within 5 working days to 12 weeks, no cash fee).

Required Documents for UK Tax Refund
To avoid claim delays or rejection, prepare these documents:
- Valid passport or travel document (proves non-UK residency).
- Completed VAT refund form (provided by the retailer, with accurate details).
- Original receipts/invoices from the retailer (must show VAT amount and store details).
- Boarding pass or travel itinerary (proves departure from the UK/EU within 3 months of purchase).
- The purchased goods (for customs inspection—do not use or pack them in checked luggage if possible).
- For business/worker rebates: P60/P45 forms, National Insurance number, and HMRC reference number (from P800 letter).
UK Tax Refund Timeline: When Will You Get Your Money?

Timelines vary by refund type and submission method—here’s the breakdown:
- Tourist VAT Refund (Northern Ireland):
- Cash refund: Instant at airport/port tax refund desks (same day as submission).
- Card refund: 5 working days to 12 weeks (depends on the tax refund company and bank processing).
- Worker/Business Tax Rebates:
- Online application (HMRC): 5 working days (bank transfer) or 14 days (cheque).
- Paper application: 6 to 24 weeks (varies by rebate type—e.g., tool tax back takes 12-24 weeks).
Delays may occur if HMRC needs to inspect your claim, documents are missing, or you apply during peak periods (January 31 self-assessment deadline, April 5 end of tax year).
Where to Get UK Tax Refund: Accurate Locations

Locations depend on the UK region and refund type—note that Great Britain has no tourist VAT refund locations:
Northern Ireland (Tourist VAT Refund Locations)
- Retail Stores: Participating stores in Belfast (e.g., Victoria Square Shopping Centre), Derry, and other major towns (look for “Tax Free Shopping” signs).
- Airports: Belfast International Airport (BFS) and George Best Belfast City Airport (BHD) have customs desks and tax refund company desks (Global Blue/Planet Tax Free) for form stamping and submission.
- Ports: Belfast Port and Larne Port (customs desks for form stamping for ferry departures).
Great Britain (No Tourist VAT Refund—Only Worker/Business Rebates)
- HMRC offices (for in-person submissions, but online is preferred).
- Major Airports: Heathrow (T2-T5), Gatwick (North/South Terminals), Manchester, Edinburgh, and Birmingham Airports have customs desks for stamping business/worker rebate forms (not tourist refunds).
UK Tax Refund in Northern Ireland vs. Great Britain

The key difference lies in tourist VAT refund availability—here’s a clear comparison:
- Great Britain (England, Scotland, Wales): No tourist VAT refunds since January 2021. The VAT Retail Export Scheme was abolished, so international tourists cannot reclaim VAT on in-store purchases. Only worker/business rebates are available here.
- Northern Ireland: Retains limited tourist VAT refund options for non-UK residents, as it maintains some EU-related tax arrangements. Eligible tourists can claim refunds on qualifying retail purchases, following the same process as outlined earlier. VAT rates are the same (20% standard) as Great Britain.

Our family of four booked the Tower Bridge view suite, which was incredibly spacious and came with a kitchen and washing machine – super convenient! The view of Tower Bridge from our window was amazing, and the subway station was just a few steps downstairs, along with a ferry terminal. We used boats and the subway for all our travel, which was really easy. There's a small supermarket a few hundred meters away where you can pick up basic groceries, fruit, and daily necessities. The only downside was the price being a bit high during peak season, but other than that, no complaints! The front desk staff were also very nice! By the way, they provided slippers, toothbrushes, and toiletries, so I didn't even need to use the ones I brought. 😀FromIDR 2,585,573

Superb location and view. I was very surprised and happy to see a full kitchen inside the apartment/hotel room, although my stay was short and did not have time to use the facilities… wish next time I will stay longer and fully enjoy the very modern and nicely renovated accommodation! The hotel is located in a very safe and convenient area, with easy access to transportation, which is a big plus. However, the service from many staff members was quite disappointing. They did not feel welcoming, especially during breakfast where some staff appeared unfriendly and unapproachable, and service overall was quite limited.
The room experience also did not meet expectations for a 5-star hotel. Housekeeping only changed bed sheets every three days, which feels quite infrequent. The in-room amenities were minimal and not well equipped.
The heating system in the room was also a major issue. The heater was not warm enough, and when I informed the staff, they only provided an extra portable heater, which was not practical in such a small room. The air conditioning could only be adjusted to around 24°C, which made the room too cold at night and too warm during the day, making it very uncomfortable.
Overall, the experience did not feel like a 5-star standard at all, and I would personally prefer to stay elsewhere next time where the comfort and service are much better.FromIDR 3,339,369

Booked a 2-night Premier Two Double Beds Room at Pan Pacific London for my son’s graduation trip via trip.com.
The booking stated “pay at hotel,” but unfortunately the hotel pre-collected the payment upon booking instead of charging upon check-in. <PS: I've feedback to trip.com>
Upon arrival, they also deducted GBP300 as a deposit (meaning actually charged, not just pre-authorized/blocked). During check-out, I noticed they planned to refund only GBP280 because they had automatically included a 5% per night “service charge.” Since I usually don’t carefully check hotel bills, I asked why the full GBP300 wasn’t being refunded. The staff replied, “Did you like our service?” and said they could remove the charge if I didn’t wish to pay it.
Honestly, I found this quite unreasonable and unacceptable, especially as it felt like a hidden optional charge rather than something transparently communicated upfront. This is definitely one negative point I would like to highlight.
Apart from that, the room itself was spacious, the bed and mattress were extremely comfortable, and I absolutely loved their warm bathrobes. Housekeeping service was excellent throughout the stay.
However, surprisingly, the mini-bar was not complimentary despite the relatively high room rates for our room type.FromIDR 7,495,790

The location of this hotel is very good. Got 2 tubes nearby and many bus services. Many cafes, restaurants, supermarkets within 5 mins walking distance.
The hotel is under renovation, our room is just renovated, so it is nice. But as our room is close to their housekeeping room, so it is so noisy as they keep opening and closing the doors and also exit door. It’s quite disturbing.
Cleaniness can be improved as the mugs still have previous lip print on it.

I recently stayed at Novotel London Canary Wharf and it was one of the most enjoyable hotel experiences I’ve had in London. From the moment I checked in, the atmosphere felt modern, welcoming, and effortlessly comfortable.
The highlight of the stay was definitely the view from my room. Waking up to the Canary Wharf skyline and watching the city lights come alive at night was incredible. The floor-to-ceiling windows made the entire room feel bright and spacious, and the panoramic cityscape gave the stay a real luxury feel.
Another standout experience was visiting Bōkan, the hotel’s restaurant and rooftop bar. The views from up there are absolutely breathtaking , you get a stunning panoramic perspective of the whole of London, from Canary Wharf to landmarks across the city skyline. Whether during sunset or later in the evening, the atmosphere is unforgettable. The combination of great food, drinks, and those sweeping views made it one of the best parts of the trip.
The hotel amenities were also excellent. The pool was clean and relaxing, perfect after a long day exploring or working in the city. The gym was well-equipped with everything needed for a proper workout, and the sauna added an extra touch of relaxation that really elevated the overall experience.
Overall, Novotel London Canary Wharf delivers the perfect mix of comfort, modern luxury, amazing facilities, and spectacular London views. I’d happily stay there again and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable stay in Canary Wharf.FromIDR 2,648,829

I've stayed here a few times for business trips. This time I was on vacation and saw a great deal on Ctrip for this weekend – even less than half price – so I booked it right away. The location is excellent, with Tower Hill practically on the doorstep, making it super convenient to get anywhere. The service is reliable, and the staff are quite friendly. I was given complimentary breakfast, though there's usually a bit of a queue, taking about five to ten minutes to get in. The food is decent, and the staff are friendly and helpful. For London, the room is quite spacious, well-equipped, and the shower has plenty of hot water. I really liked the shower gel too. Overall, this price is fantastic and highly recommended.

This is one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in. The interior design is magnificent, both in the room and in the common areas.
The room was warm, with clean bedding and towels. You can ask at reception for an adapter for British sockets, but we didn't need one as there were USB and Type-C ports instead of sockets.
In the bathroom, there were wonderful Le Labo toiletries (now that scent will always remind me of London). There was also a heated towel rail.
I recommend getting breakfast – there's a small buffet (granola, fruit, pastries) plus a choice of main breakfast dishes from a menu (full English breakfast, scrambled eggs with salmon, avocado toast). It was delicious and filling, and the filter coffee was one of the best I've ever tasted. The only thing missing was cheese and cold cuts.
The room was cleaned daily – dishes were washed, towels were changed, and water was replenished.
The hotel's location is also excellent – five minutes to the metro, an M&S food store is also a few minutes' walk away, and there are many bars, a pharmacy, and currency exchange offices on the next street.FromIDR 4,224,947

First, the positive aspects:
- The staff were very friendly. Thank you!
- The hotel's location is very good, it is a 2-minute walk from Tower Hill Station (Circle/District line) and a 5-minute walk from Tower Gate DLR station.
- There is a coffee machine in the room and complimentary water is provided every day. The bathroom is equipped with the usual amenities.
- The bed is comfortable.
- The request for a room far away from the lift was granted.
The negative aspects:
- The room was cool (personal opinion). Despite adjusting the temperature control in the room, the room temperature did not change.
- In the second room, water suddenly dripped through the ceiling (in the bathroom) during the night, so there was a change of rooms. It would have been nice (not mandatory, but nice) to offer guests breakfast in return. The television in the new room did not seem to work.

I was a little hesitant after reading the reviews before checking in, but I still believed in SLH's positioning and quality, and I was not disappointed. The location is excellent and convenient for travel. There is Harrods and many popular dessert shops right outside. Because I had experienced the poor environment of the London Underground and it was often delayed and stopped, I took the bus this time. It was very convenient. Bus 14, 22, and 19 on Brompton Street can basically cover various attractions in downtown London, and you can enjoy the scenery along the way. The hotel adheres to SLH's consistent low-key luxury style. The living room on the first floor feels like home. The water bar, white coffee, and night wine are available for guests to enjoy. The cost depends on the amount and room number of the bill. Breakfast is a buffet with both English and American options. The hotel's butler service is great!FromIDR 6,119,980

A Memorable Stay at The Langham: Exceptional Service and Hospitality
I had an amazing stay at The Langham, thanks to the exceptional hospitality of the staff. First and foremost, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the front desk team, Melissa and Pallmeet, for their warm welcome upon my arrival. Their efficiency in handling my check-in process was impressive, making the experience seamless and pleasant. Melissa’s attention to detail stood out as she remembered my preferences, which made me feel truly valued and at home. Their enthusiasm extended to my departure, ensuring that my check-out process was just as smooth. This level of service reaffirmed my decision to return to The Langham in the future.
During a delightful conversation with Melissa,I learned about her genuine passion for the hotel, and it was inspiring to see someone who genuinely enjoys their work. I strongly believe that employees who love their workplace naturally provide better service, and Melissa is a perfect example of this. Perhaps this is part of The Langham’s charm—not only does it attract guests, but it also creates an environment where employees take pride in their work.
Additionally, I am deeply grateful to Office Duty Manager Nanyu Nanev, who went above and beyond to assist me when I stored my luggage. His kindness and willingness to solve any issues reassured me, making my onward journey much more secure. His efficiency and professionalism left a lasting impression, and I truly respect his dedication to providing outstanding service.

Our stay here was a breath of fresh air after our experience in a shoebox hotel room in another hotel closer to London Kings Cross.
The hotel has been recently renovated and now has a modern artsy interior. Facilities and interior of the rooms are very new and clean. And we also appreciated the room size which was much more spacious compared to other hotels in London - both of us could open our large size luggages with ample room!
Although the location is not in the center of tourist attractions, we appreciated that the area was abit more quiet and peaceful but still very convenient as only a short walk to the tube (west Brompton district line) which connected us to majority of attractions easily and within short distance. It was also easy to get onto the picadilly line for Heathrow at the end of our trip as picadilly line stations are also close by. There were also busstops right outside our hotel & west brompton station is also an overground station if you need to travel to outside central london

The hotel rep was kind enough to reply that they could not refund or change the dates of my stay when I informed them with proof of an email by Emirates who cancelled the original flight and rescheduled it causing me to lose an entire whole day and of course my paid booking at the hotel. When I finally landed I actually went to have a look and found the hotel as above.
I really hope Trip.com will look into this issue of getting hotels to consider refunds in the event such as illness, emergency or flight cancellations or factors out of customers control regardless of the original clause of non refundable within 24 hours.FromIDR 2,145,419

I stayed in this hotel 2 nights in a row, but under 2 bookings, so I experienced 2 different rooms. A single and a twin. We stayed during a heatwave this summer and the first room I stayed in was the single. It was very small, but had everything I needed, including a TV, window and AC. Unfortunately the AC was not working so the room was unbearably hot. The window was also painted shut, so there was no movement of air at all. I did ask at reception for a fan, which was brought up to me. Unfortunately it was a tower fan, which mostly moved around the hot air. That night the only way I could sleep was by dunking a towel in cold water and having it laid on top of me. The bed was comfy though, thank goodness.
The second night I was staying in a twin - the room was much bigger and again, had everything we needed - including a working AC system (yay!). Beds were really comfy and amenities included bottles of water (in both room types) which was a bonus. We checked-in in advance and left our bags as we were going to a festival at Hyde Park all day. When we returned there was a long queue to get room keys and our bags. The staff on the desk (2) were really friendly, even though there were a few grumpy people in the queue before us. They weren't able to give us our bags at the time of getting the keys, so they brought the bags up to our room within 30 minutes. That was a bit of a hassle considering we had been out all day, were exhausted and just wanted to sleep, however, we understood that it was busy.
We got what we paid for - perfect location for the undergrounds and Hyde Park in a beautiful building. Shame about the AC in the first room, especially considering it's a 4-star hotel, but ultimately didn't put a dampner on the weekend.FromIDR 1,734,258

As a solo traveler, I had such a wonderful stay at Mimi’s. The staff were incredibly helpful, kind and friendly. It was a tiny room but worked for one person with all the needed items, including a hair dryer and the life saving air conditioner. They also offer £10 charge to store luggage which was nice for walking around before leaving the area. The lobby is also quite lovely and relaxing. Would absolutely stay here again, a wonderful spot in the center of theatres and restaurants.FromIDR 1,723,715

Absolutely loved the location and will definitely return. The service and attention to detail from the reception team especially is 10/10.
Certain areas of the hotel need refurbishing - even if just a lick of paint for now as they aren't in line with the rest of the hotel.
The room was small but practical and unfortunately didn't have the best of views but that's not an issue. I felt comfortable and safe during my stay. Had a minor issue with the air con unit which is very dated and didn't match the aesthetic of a modern and refurbished room which looks very appealing.
Overall, would be very happy to visit again especially during the summer and try out their dinner menu.FromIDR 1,610,382

Very enjoyed my stay here, some of the hair from the last residents have stayed but overall good cleaning, great room and great service. There's a great spa and a small store for necessarities in the loby. Did not care for the treatment in the rooftop bar, it was presented in the website as part of the facilities accessed to the guests but actually you have to reserve a place few days before.FromIDR 3,260,299

Service: The front desk staff was very enthusiastic and provided excellent service, offering free luggage storage which was perfect for my last day before catching a flight.
Facilities: The room was spacious, comfortable, and clean, and the coffee was delicious.
Environment: There are plenty of places to eat and shop around, from large supermarkets to smaller ones. I even found a Chipotle open late for a late-night snack! 🥳 It's within walking distance of the Natural History Museum and super close to the subway station, which was incredibly convenient.FromIDR 1,866,040

The best part about the hotel is the location. It's quite close to the Tube and fairly central so it's easy to get around London and meet people. I also thought that the breakfast was good or good enough and the gym was also satisfactory.
The one area I felt the hotel didn't meet my expectations was the small matter of being able to sleep. There is no meaningful air conditioning in the rooms and unfortunately the summer has been quite hot. If you are reading this in your room and it's 3 a.m. as you sweat and desperately try to work out whether or not it's something you've misunderstood about the controls or whether something is broken in your room (much like I did at 3 a.m. my first night), then let me assure you that it's not a you problem. The A/C simply doesn't work. It's just on the wall for show.
In the three nights I stayed I slept about an hour and a half per night. After the first night I went to the front desk and raised my concern and they gave me a fan I could plug in. This was kind but also not sufficient.
Here are a few tips for you should you decide you want to stay at the hotel in the summer:
1. One thing that worked for me first is to take a freezing cold shower before bed and then as you wake up in a pool of sweat every two to three hours take another freezing cold shower.
2. Another option that I tried was to sleep on the floor because the closer you get to the ground the cooler the air becomes. However it's questionable whether the change in temperature is worth being on that carpet.
3. A third option you might consider is to buy something frozen or if possible freeze a large watermelon or vegetable like a zucchini and sleep with it hugging it throughout the night.
I unfortunately didn't think to try this but I would love to hear back if you try it and it works for you.FromIDR 1,570,848

Friday. Check in was so easy so good didn't need to speak to staff other than to ask where the lifts were. Room on tenth floor with great view of the Thames and part of Tower Bridge. A very busy hotel al all times. Enjoyable stay. However, the rooms ac very noisy and at gone midnight had to go down to reception to complain (phone not working). Concierge said will arrange to turn off centrally which was done and should be fixed next day.
Saturday. On going to bed found that I could now control the ac but it was still very noisy so turned off. Not very good with the hot weather.FromIDR 1,852,862

I had a fantastic stay at The Londoner and it totally lived up to the hype. The location is perfectly central, making it ridiculously easy to explore the city without spending half your time on transport. The staff were consistently polite, friendly, and genuinely helpful, one of those places where you feel well looked after from check-in to check-out. The gym and pool facilities were a real highlight: modern, spotless, and ideal for unwinding after a busy day in London. The rooms were stylish and modern with a luxe-but-comfy vibe that made it hard to leave. And the lounge? Super inviting, perfect for relaxed drinks and snacks while soaking up the atmosphere. Would happily stay again! ✨FromIDR 7,084,628

We arrived to be greeted by service and manners from the start to the time we left.
Fantastic location, beautiful lobby and eating areas.A lovely reading room where you could read newspapers and have a drink in a quiet place.
The whole place was a quiet place really. The swimming pool is good plus the steam room and sauna.
The food was excellent too.
We went to see Back to the future musical and it was only over the road, that’s how good the location it is as well as Covent Garden being more or less over the road too.

Corinthia is stunning in every moment.
After searching around, this one is highly recommended by everyone! It's really amazing. After getting off the bus, the staff came over immediately to help with luggage and open the door. The first impression was perfect.
Check-in at the front desk was also very fast. We arrived at the hotel after one o'clock and normally checked in at three o'clock. The room had been cleaned in advance. The staff took us into the room and introduced some specific facilities in the room. Soon the suitcases were delivered to the hotel for us. The elevator is very unique. There is a clock above to show the floor, which gives people a very different feeling.
The hotel's service is meticulous. I believe that many times if you need room service, it will be a headache if you don't know clearly or there are some obstacles in communication. But here you only need to scan the code on the hotel table and you can communicate in real time directly through What's app. It's super Incredibly convenient. I asked for an ironing machine and adapter and they were delivered quickly. The hotel's slippers are also very special, very thick and feel good on the feet.
The rooms are all equipped with bathtubs and heaters. It is a spa hotel after all. It is known as the best spa hotel. The spa facilities are really great. There is an elevator directly leading to the spa area on the room floor. The sauna pool and soaking pool are very comfortable. I come here every day to soak in it at night. Nine o'clock, if only it could be later.
The breakfast was great, the fruit was fresh and the eggs were excellent.
Of course, everything can't be perfect. There are still some small details. Most of the hotel employees are friendly and will say hello and cordial greetings when they see you. However, there are also some employees who will not say a word when they see you. Looking up and down, this makes people feel a little uncomfortable. The room we stayed in seemed to be connected to the room next door due to structural problems. We stayed for three nights. The sound from the opposite side was louder on the second night, which affected our rest. We contacted the hotel as soon as possible the next day, which was also very good. They took care of it and originally said they would change our room because we had too much luggage and really didn't want to move it. The hotel said they had communicated with the guests next door. Sure enough, the last night was very quiet and we spent it happily. The hotel also expressed its opinions. Sincerity, you can feel their attitude.
All in all, it was an overall very satisfying trip. If I come to London next time, I will choose this place again.FromIDR 20,679,313

For London, the value for money was okay, but there were too many issues, so I won't be staying here again. When I checked in, the front desk told me they only had accessible rooms and offered an upgrade for £100, which I declined. They then gave me an accessible room. I went downstairs later and asked another person, who immediately gave me a regular room. There was a young Asian-looking cleaning staff member who stared at me without greeting me and looked hostile, which made me very uncomfortable. Also, for two consecutive days, the cleaning staff threw away the disposable toilet seat cover from my toilet, which I've never encountered before.FromIDR 6,148,972

Best hotel staff I have ever met. Everyone is super friendly and helpful. Rooms are super clean too. However, the rooms are… OLD. The bathroom is cold and has a hospital feel. The water took 3 minutes (literally) to get hot and fails to maintain one temperature.
Every room is paper thin. I can hear noises (noises that couples make) down the corridors. My room was also situated extremely far from the lifts so it was a maze to get out every time.
Unfortunately, this is what I would expect from a budget hotels not a “by Hilton” level. Truly disappointed.FromIDR 1,829,141

Heathrow London|17.42km from city center
The hotel was pleasantly surprising for the price and proximity to Heathrow. Though unfortunately the tube strikes hit us, the connection to the airport via the underground would otherwise be invaluable. As it was, it was still fairly doable to get here from Central London without the tube and I enjoyed experiencing a different area of Greater London.
Only difficulty was perhaps the lack of guest entry without pressing a buzzer, which posed a problem in the middle of the night when no one was at the desk!FromIDR 946,198

A truly excellent hotel that I highly recommend. It feels very safe, the location is super convenient, and the service is incredibly warm and friendly. The staff, especially the younger gentlemen, were fantastic. Very good location (2 min walk to Southwark Station )and room size appropriate. Unfortunately, most of the female receptionist seems like they did not like their job or was not happy when they receive queries. No smiles, no greetings.
