Dining choices include a dining room or the screened, furnished lanai by the re-finished swimming pool and paver stone-covered pool deck, or even the furnished sun & moon deck on the top level.The glass-sided living room, with a leather, super comfortable sleeper sofa and side chairs, offers a panoramic view of the swimming pool and the tropical foliage. The entertainment center has a 50" Smart LCD HDTV, DVD, and a Bluetooth connected 100-watt Onkyo stereo receiver, 6-disc CD changer and Infinity speakers inside and JBL poolside speakers. A large collection of CDs are provided. Wireless Comcast Internet and long-Comcast free calling in the 48 states. Beach towels, chairs, umbrellas, ice coolers, and handy beach cart make for an easy beach day.The master bedroom on the second floor has a king-size bed, its own full bath, and 43" Smart HDTV. Experience the laid-back, easy Captiva Island lifestyle with this classic 2 bedroom, 2 full bath cottage with no stairs to deal with. This is an extremely easy home to entertain children. You'll see why this is perhaps the most popular rental house on Captiva based on rental history. The house just had a new A/C system, all new flooring and interior paint in September 2021. And December 2021 saw the installation of new energy-saving impact windows and full outside painting. Of course, recent hurricane recovery work has repeated some of that previous work.The Mermaid's private, secluded, 26 ft x 14 ft heated and newly resurfaced pool with paver stone deck is just off the double French doors of the living room. The Mermaid Home may be called a cottage, but this house is as well updated and perhaps better equipped than a new luxury home. Included is a 43' Smart HDTV, a 6-disc CD player with a large music selection, Bluetooth connection to our 100-watt Onkyo receiver with Bose inside speakers and outside pool speakers. Wireless Comcast cable Internet is in place. The primary bedroom has a King bed with 32" Smart HDTV and a new master bath with shower. The guest bedroom is twin equipped and has an HDTV with DVD. The living room provides a very comfortable Natuzzi Italian leather queen-size sleeper sofa, The new hallway bath services the guest room and living room guests.The kitchen is new and fully equipped with ice-making refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, Cuisinart drip coffee and Keurig machines, and all utensils. The adjacent open dining area has a table for 4 and stools at the kitchen bar for 2 more. A Weber gas grill is outside the kitchen and pool area, with a spare propane tank always available for heavy use. A new washer and dryer are provided in the adjacent laundry room. Included is a handy beach cart to haul all the beach chairs, umbrellas, cooler, beach toys, and beach towels to the beachThe grounds are covered with many varieties of tropical flowering plants (though replanted and recovering from the storm), the beach is a short 2-4 -minute walk and the docks of the bay are even closer. Captiva's charming village center is a 5-minute walk from the house. Personally maintained by the owners, this home is one of the very few Captiva rental houses not managed by a management company. We personally supervise and assist our cleaning staff each Saturday. This cute open concept home is great for gathering, relaxing, and making memories. Stroll just a few minutes to the white sugar sand beach, or take the complimentary golf cart to further beach access points and some of the best shelling you've ever experienced, jog for miles in the nature preserve, dine at the few local restaurants (Mainstays, the Boathouse, Over the Waterfront, Mangos at the Pool), or just tour this remote slice of paradise. Return to the house for a BBQ and more relaxation while avoiding the bugs in the screened in porch.This island is only accessible by boat, ferry, or private plane. Once on the island, golf carts, bikes and walking are the modes of transportation. You can park at the ferry and take the short ferry ride over to North Captiva. Grocery shopping is recommended prior to coming to the island. You can pick up groceries on your way, or we do have grocery services that will pick up and stock the house with your groceries prior to your arrival for a fee.If you are familiar with the island, it is on the north end, near the private airstrip. Public beach and bay access is at the end of the each side of the airstrip and this is the safest beach area on the island. You can also access the beach at other areas of the island, using the complimentary 4 person golf cart. Please note, there is no cost to use the golf cart. Located on North Captiva Island, in Safety Harbor Club, this comfortable home is conveniently located near beaches, pools, and boat docks. The house is nestled among the native palms, and has a private, wildlife-friendly setting you will love. Beautiful beaches and refreshing pools are a short walk (5 minutes or less) or a couple minutes away by golf cart (included; see details below*). North Captiva is a bridge-less, car-free island situated in between the coastal barrier islands of Captiva and Cayo Costa. Transportation is provided by scheduled water taxis, private charter, or your own boat. The island has over 5 miles of pristine sandy beaches to explore and the southern portion includes over 350 acres of protected state park land. Golf carts, bicycles, and sandy feet are the typical mode of transportation (shoes are optional). Guests of Gumbo Limbo will be registered with both The Island Club at North Captiva and the Safety Harbor Club and will have use of their amenities including their 3 large pools, tennis & pickle ball courts, private beach access and use of sea kayaks and bicycles. Through special arrangement with the host, a boat dock space can be rented for a daily fee at the Safety Harbor Club wharf (boat registration & insurance info will need to be provided for SHC). With, or without a boat, guests will enjoy fishing, wildlife watching or enjoying sunrises and moonrises from the harbor docks. In order to provide additional value and convenience to guests, Gumbo Limbo is currently including the use of its golf cart as an amenity for guests (*conditions apply, see details below). The facilities at the resort were entertaining. The pools were refreshing for the summer heat. My favorite place to eat was the Harbourside Bar & Grill.
