We had to book one day in advance on short notice and the price was roughly 150 euro excluding parking, breakfast or air conditioning. Parking cannot be reserved, but is first come, first serve. Apparently good for those who check in prior to 6pm, bad for us. The hotel could use some modernization, the style is quite old, outdated decoration and presentation. The staff at the reception was quite nice. We threw our stuff in the room and went out for dinner. We came back around 11pm and just wanted to sleep. Lucky us, the fan did not work properly but did horrible noises. And we found hairs on our bed. We complained the next morning during check out. By the way the two other guests checking out complained about different stuff as well. For us, no sorry from the staff, only a complaint that we did not complain immediately - yeah, at 11 pm and we were able to remove the hairs ourselves. Thanks, also for saying sorry. Overall, not worth the value and for sure they will never see us again.

Honestly, I would have given the hotel more stars if any of the staff I met on days 2, 3, or 4 had checked me in, but I was so annoyed by the treatment I got at check-in that it was hard for me to recover my equilibrium. It's old-fashioned, reasonably quiet rooms, one side faces Colombi Park and a busy street, the other side faces a courtyard but has a view of the Münster (cathedral) over the neighboring roofs. Didn't try the breakfast so can't comment on that -- but they did provide an array of cute little sweets in the room on the first night, and a nightly turn-down service, which was a pleasant surprise. This room had the best and most beautiful closet of any hotel I've ever stayed in. The shower leaked, so I was very grateful for daily room cleaning so I could get fresh bathmats!

The service was excellent and the hotel is very nice with a great atmosphere. I would definitely stay there again. The breakfast can be ordered with gluten-free options but you just have to ask for it. The rooms are clean with AC and a small kitchen for smaller meals. The area around the hotel is nice enough with restaurants and shopping basically right out the door. There are aom construction nearby but no bigger issues there. Parking was full so we had to find some in the streets nearby which was free.

The hotel located in a quiet area but within walking distance to the super market, many restaurants, bakeries, etc. However a car is needed to reach the city center. The room is simple but modern, clean, roomy with nice seating area and A/C. The complimentary breakfast was average but it is a nice bonus though. The staff was friendly and helpful. Because of the reasonable price, the complimentary breakfast and the services, I would recommend this hotel to my friends and family.

The location is perfect to visit the old town and the region, being close to the central train station where all tramway lines converge, and being within walking distance of all points of interest in the old town. Being a member of the Accor Club, I got a free upgrade and free parking. The room was comfortable and quiet, and there was a wide choice at breakfast, with a visible effort to avoid plastic containers. We also got a fruit basket with some chocolates on our first night. That's the first time we got such care at a Novotel hotel. It was a pleasure to stay there and I'll be happy to stay there if I return to Freiburg.

I was concerned about parking when I arrived, but fears were waylaid when I followed well-signed directions right to their extensive parking garage. Hotel lobby was huge with a large reception desk and bar in the main lobby. Check-in was a breeze and they allowed pets which was perfect since I arrived with 2 cats. The room was VERY spacious with a great view of the town (I was on the top level of the hotel). The bathroom was much roomier than anticipated with plenty of shelf space to put all of my things. They have a restaurant attached where I had dinner (excellent food) and service was top notch (many of the waiters spoke several languages). Breakfast was excellent as well with hot and cold items, tea, coffee and infamous German brötchen. Hotel was beautiful, spacious, and clean, and staff was excellent across the board. They deserve more than 5-stars. Highly recommend this hotel!!

So it's a shame that the quality of the staff seems not to match the quality of the property. At check-in, there was nary a welcome nor smile to be had, and we were given the distinct impression that our presence was an imposition on the very unfriendly person checking us in. ”Curt” would be a polite way to describe the experience, but ”downright rude” would be more accurate. Rooms are clean and well-appointed, but none of us slept well on the extra-hard beds with a duvet that kept sliding off in the night because it's too small to tuck in. Perhaps a blessing in disguise, since the rooms are horribly overheated. This hotel ticks all the boxes for its four-star rating, but not a jot or tittle more than that. The hotel also claims to be pet-friendly, but beware if you bring Fido along. There's a hefty supplement. Your pet is allowed in the lobby restaurant, but if you bring it to breakfast, you are rudely banished like you were carrying the Coronavirus. If this were the only hotel in a 50-mile radius, I think I would choose to sleep in my car.

If you are looking to explore the area, it is situated on the way to Alsace so you can go into Freiburg and France quite easily. If you want a hotel right in Freiburg, this isn't it. |0.2km from city centerPros: It is very central (more central than that does not exist probably) It is a chain hotel, so surprises are unlikely (to good or bad) Bed has good pillows (to my taste) Even though it is directly at the Hauptbahnhof, when the windows are shut I was not bothered at all by sounds (and I am quite picky about it) Internet is very good Cons: It was super hot inside the room even though the temperature outside was quite nice the whole time. There was a fan there, but too loud to sleep with it on. Leaving the windows open to sleep was too loud as well, so we had to just accept it. Nothing interesting about the room, if you plan to stay more than just to sleep, look for something else as this is not the most comfortable option Overall conclusion: Our goal was to go to EuropaPark but also use a night to go around the Altstadt. We did not stay more inside than to solely have a shower and sleep, so it was quite alright. The room is with carpet which I do not like, but I did not get any reaction to it. We went by car and parking is not the best around there, I believe when going by train this place has more appeal (even more with the included city transport ticket) and I would give it 4 stars instead of 3. If I were to go back in time, I would have taken something more distanced but more comfortable for the price or went by train/bus and stayed at InterCity.

The restaurant, which is part of the hotel, is also impressive - not just the daily kitchen and a little smaller and special choice, but the better for it. The hotel is very good, so that the city centre of Freiburg is walking very well to reach. If you have a light sleep, I would recommend to ask for a room that is not directly on the crossing. |1.86km from city centerThe A/C has been broken since I got here 3 days ago and the room is stuffy and hot. I've overhead other guests complain of this as well. But now this happened: I came back to my from breakfast this morning, where I had left the do not disturb sign on the door, to find that someone had entered my room and locked the window (which I had signed a waiver to have unlocked the day before due to the broken A/C). Another guest told me that ”two men” had opened her door while she was IN THE SHOWER to evict her 3 hours before checkout! What kind of criminal behavior is this??? I'm going through my bags to make sure everything is still there!! Ended up demanding and receiving a refund for my the rest of my booking, and 20% off the nights I stayed so far, no cancellation fee. The manager was quite professional and nice about it, I wish I could say the same for the rest of my experience. And the lady at the reception? I'm pretty sure she is the same one every other review talks about. She doesn't mind laughing to your face and seems to only be concerned with when her next smoke break is. Avoid this place like the plague. I immediately moved next door to the Hampton Inn by Hilton for about 20 euro more. So far there is no comparison.

|0.97km from city centerLets start with the location which is excellent and minutes from the main square.Staff were at all times polite and helpful and the breakfast was plentiful and varied,Down side is the room which has no inbuilt air condition and they give a stand alone tower which you either keep on all night or switch off.Not what we could do as it was 28 degrees in the city at night..If you take a 3rd floor premier room they over look the outside bar area which on a Saturday night can stay open till after midnight which i can understand at the weekend but not through the week.Below our window was a floodlit tree and this shone into the room through very badly designed curtains.We had to ask maintenance to get a second curtain as ours had been removed and not replaced.Staff said curtains has been raised as ineffective many times but nothing has been done Bed wasnt all that comfortable either but on the whole a good room but would not return as better hotels with better facilities can probably be found for the same price elsewhere
