|2.19km from city centerReally enjoyed our stay at Bushveld Terrace. It's a lovely boutique hotel. Super comfortable bed and spacious bathroom with a fantastic restaurant - literally one of the best we ate at this entire trip. There's load shedding all across SA these days, but there was seamless use of the backup generator so we were never short of power, light or internet etc. The waiting staff at the restaurant are absolutely lovely and the menu is fantastic. The chef is a really kind young lad who obviously cares greatly about his work (the steak with snails and garlic butter was terrific). As for location, the hotel's literally 200m from Phalaborwa gate into Kruger. The roads between Phalaborwa and Letaba and Mopane aren't the greatest for game viewing in wet season due to the thickness of the bush and trees. But for access to one of Africa's great public parks, you couldn't get better. Would return gladly.

The manager there was extremely friendly and communicative, she is absolutely a surplus for the business! The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable, the view from the room is stunning! The surrounding is quiet, scenic and beautiful. So don’t hesitate to book this place for a couple of nights when you in Hoedspruit.

The host Dave and Leandra are treating us like family and most importantly, their warming hospitality, sweet considetation, well-knowledged in wildlife and sincere service do leave us unforgetable memory.
We have been traveling to many places and staying at so-called luxury hotels, but this stay is absolutely the best we ever experienced.
The location is at Great Kruger National Park which is good. If you are lucky, you can see Big Five aroud the lodge. But most of time, you can spot Giraffe, Zebra, Elephant, Hippos, Kudus, baboon and Lions...
The food is way to great. We have three dinners at the lodge and I believe it's the best meal in our SA trip. Dave and his team cook for every client and the awesome view just in front of the river is unbelievable. Too good to be true!
Strongly recommended and must stay when you visit Kruger NP.

With a water point just in front of our terrasse, we had twice the visit of an elephant a few meters away from us. Monkeys also came to visit every day. The staff is really excellent, very thoughtful as well as our ranger Oupa and tracker Excellent. We had excellent food in large quantity (too much for me, great for the big eaters). We saw all the animals we wanted to see in our morning and afternoon drives. Definitely recommend.

When you enter the park you already see lots of animals and the animals also walk in the garden right outside the room. When we where swimming, A monkey jumped in the tree right next to the pool. The staff is amazing! From the minute you arrive they make you feel welcome and relaxed. Everybody is realy friendly and kind. BIG THANK YOU to the hosts Patricia and Petunia for taking such good care off us! We booked all of our game drives with Unembeza and they where the best! We did the moringdrive from 5 till 9 at the local reserve wich was awesome to see so many animals and a beautifull sunrise. We did an evening ride and picknick right next to the boutique where the guide had a lot of knowledge about the animals, trees, fruits and a lot more wich he was glad to share. Then we booked a full day at kruger from 5 till 5 where we had the BEST driver! EMANUELN gave us one of the best days of our lives! Because of him we drove next to a walking lion (2meters) had an elephant walk right at our car after bathing in the mud, saw a whole family of lions and cubs,... I know you have to be lucky to see all this in one day but it was a combination of luck and great driving/kowledge on where to be at, and when you see animals know how to respond so you make it more special. So again big thank you to Emanueln ! Glad to have booked with Unembeza!

Before I get to my own experience, I would advise you to forgo, at least in part, the fancy schmancy safari lodges that cost up to $1,000 a night and stay here instead because it's just as nice if not nicer and you get WAY more value for your money and can still book guided safaris from here and see all of the animals your heart desires. What's more, you are near the world's third largest canyon here with a breathtakingly beautiful boat ride. Use eKhaya Bush Villa as your base to then explore both Kruger National Park and the canyon area. Now to my individual experience. To put it mildly, my trip to both Cape Town and Johannesburg did not go well and I was at the end of my rope. I had intended to stay at eKhaya Bush Villa two nights. Those two nights turned into four because it became my oasis of tranquility and beauty. I don't know how old the place is but everything looks BRAND NEW. Claire, the owner, is a hospitality goddess. Truly. Hearing of my unpleasant experiences in Cape Town and Johannesburg, she bent over backwards to make me - and all other guests - feel at home and she helped me salvage my vacation (my experiences in Cape Town and Johannesburg were so bad I was thinking of flying home to the U.S. early). I am a HUGE fan of Claire and eKhaya and you will be too. The rooms are very spacious, the beds very comfortable, the bathrooms are very spacious, the grounds are beautiful, the food is good and the staff friendly and helpful. AND it's in a secured estate so you are 100% safe!! This was important to me after my travails elsewhere. Whether you are a single traveler like me or part of a larger group, you should know you will be both safe and at home here. I can't recommend this place enough. My only regret is that Claire and eKhaya aren't closer to me in Los Angeles. I'd stay here as often as I could! Lucky you that you will get the chance to. Enjoy!

|19.06km from city centerMy friends and I were initially booked here for NYE and when we arrived at the premises we discovered that there was a booking error which was done by Booking.com. We ended up having to stay somewhere else as the they were fully booked for the period we had originally booked for. I would like to applaud Charlotte for going over and beyond her call of duty! She used the lodges resources to assist us and we are really grateful. Just being around the lodge for a few hours I would just like to recommend that the “pool chairs” (is that what they called? Lol.) be replaced with newer ones please. Highlight: Bar area overlooking the pool. How awesome! FYI: There is an entrance fee of R100 per car on the main gate (cash only). Long gravel road from the off ramp into the establishment. I do not recommend for small vehicles.

It is set in beautiful grounds, overlooking stunning scenery of the mountains. The history and how the hotel came about was facinating to learn whilst we stayed there. A totally chilled out enviorment. pool area to sit in both inside and out. Our room was comfortable but very dated. It was however nice to have a bath. There was a fridge and also amenities to make hot drinks, which were replenished daily. Our room was cleaned daily. The resturant produced food to a very high standard both at breakfast and dinner.

The property has a bomer area with seats and a braai pit which we decided to use for diner. The staff were extremely useful in assisting us to acquire supplies for supper and cleaning up afterwards.

Our roomy was big and the shower jetted out a tonne of hot water which was delicious. There's lots of room for children to blow off steam in the gardens and swimming pool, plus food and drink available from early to late. We think its a great place to stay on our way home from Kruger and have done so three times. But you can from other reviews that the old place is not everyone's cup of tea. If your style is modern luxury then this may not be the place for you.
