This hotel was a pleasant surprise and a highlight of our trip in the northern lake regions of Italy. We had to leave the Lake Como region as we were only able to find one night for an acceptable hotel there (i.e. clean and not run down), so we drove on to Lago Maggiore hoping our newly booked hotel would be as wonderful as the pictures showed. We ended up staying two nights and we were very sad to leave onto the next portion of our trip! To put it into perspective we came from a Hilton to this hotel and while the Hilton was impressive, there was something more pleasing and charming here. It is a completely new hotel along Lago Maggiore. Having finished construction in late August/early September, they had almost no wear and tear in the hotel. It is also ideal as it is located close to a ferry location, no more than 10 minute walk. This made it ideal for visiting the other islands around the lake. Their downstairs dinning room for breakfast and dinner were absolutely amazing. I cannot say enough about the chef or the professionalism of the staff. The knowledge of their maître d' taught us so much not only about the different food and wines, but the history and culture of this beautiful Italian city. They have a roof top area for lunch and I do recommend you use it as the view is spectacular. It is a relaxing way to spend the evening. Also, as it is located right along the lake, there is a long access of walkway just on the other side of the street to stroll and enjoy the views of not only the lake but some of the islands you may visit. A good consideration when having to walk off the excess meals you are sure to delight in! If you are in the norther lake region, do make Stresa a planned stop. I believe you will enjoy it much more than Lake Como as it is far enough from Milan so that it does not suffer as much from traffic congestion as Lake Como. And if you are staying in Stresa, look no further than here.

Good evening, Tuesday 30 April we were at the roof top bar of your Boutique hotel in Stresa. I must say that we found great professionalism and great knowledge of the products; I would define it as an experience absolutely worth trying for the simplicity of the basic ingredients, but above all for how the cocktails are elaborated and structured, starting from the fermentations up to the foams and concluding with the matching appetizers that were really tasty and special. We tasted some very good cocktails, but above all unique in their kind of workmanship; your head barman was sensational from the creation, to the service, and the explanation of the drinks it was very satisfying to see the passion in telling us about them without difficulty and in a professional way, even the most complicated questions. I am very satisfied with the work done by your head barman and the rest of the staff, thank you very much for the wonderful experience.

The hotel lived up to the brochure description as a first-class hotel overlooking Lake Maggiore. It is situated close to Stresa centre and ferry terminal, a very leisurely 7 or 8 minute stroll away. Our lake-view room met our expectations (well, almost, see later comment). It was spacious, spotless and had an excellent view over the lake. Regarding dining in the hotel, we only had breakfasts. The breakfast staff were very polite and efficient, guiding us to tables inside or outside. Breakfasts operated on a buffet service and choices were more than enough for our needs. A caveat, though…if you wish eggs other than the available scrambled/hard-boiled, you may be charged for them (it’s not the money, just a matter of principle!). We didn’t visit the acclaimed spa but the outdoor pool facilities were excellent. The decor inside the hotel and the gardens outside were worthy of multiple photo-shots. There was one surprising aspect of this five-star hotel and that was the absence of tea/coffee facilities in our room. This was taken for granted in other top hotels that we have been lucky enough to visit.

Our hearts are full of gratitude for everything the @villapalazzoaminta offered to us on our wedding day. The whole experience was so perfect, that we felt like we were at our houses. Villa Aminta is now our place in Stresa. And Stresa, our love's place in the world. Comfortable rooms, stunning views, tasty food, and a kind and helpful staff. We have loved every second of our stay! Thank you!

Except that the location is not as good as another five-star hotel, (the location is about 1 km away, but at night, when the lights of the two small islands are dim, this point is exceeded), everything else exceeds expectations.

Il Porticciolo must have one of the most beautiful locations of all the lakes of Italy. One whole wall of our very comfortable room overlooked Lake Maggiore and the surrounding snow-capped mountains. We spent a lot of time on our balcony just absorbing the lake and mountains in all of their different moods while the water lapped against the wall directly below us. The hotel is within easy walking distance of the train station, the beautiful town of Laveno-Mombello and the cable car up 1,000m to views that will take your breath away. As well as its superb location, Il Porticciolo has two great restaurants. We have already been in Italy for two months and we would rank the food we were served amongst the very best we have experienced. We found Giovanni and Elisabetta to be great hosts. They were very friendly and looked after us as if we were family. When we arrived the town of Laveno-Mombello was experiencing problems with its gas supplies and Giovanni immediately offered us a free breakfast to compensate for any discomfort. We also enjoyed long conversations with Elisabetta and she drove us to the train station free of charge when we had to catch an early train after our 7 day stay. We would highly recommend Il Porticciolo to you and the great welcome you will receive from Elisabetta and Giovanni.

We stayed here for three nights as a mini break. Hotel very nice, room was a junior suite with balcony overlooking the beautiful lake and literally on the waters edge. The view is stunning. The restaurant facilities are split with fine dining ay one end and more traditional meals the other. We ate traditional twice and the food quality and presentation excellent, local wines although expensive were superb. Comments about the ”surly” management is understandable when you deal with the owner who does come across as rather serious but proved really ok, definitely likes to do his roles in a very precise manner. I would stay here again without question.

Hotel is in much need of some updates. The sheets and bedding were all ripped and ball-y and the carpets are stained. One pillow each on bed. We were really disappointed after staying at the hotel majestic in bologna. Would not rate this as a 5 star hotel more like 3. Location is great and breakfast buffet was just ok. Most hotels now let you order omelets or eggs how you like, we missed that. This is our 4th time to the lakes and we would not stay here again. Hotel needs some painting and updates to rooms

Beautiful setting on the lake, with view of lake from our room. The room was large. The bathtub was deep. The food in the restaurant for dinner and breakfast was excellent. Overall, we were very pleased with the experience.

My wife and I discovered this wonderful place after traveling everywhere in Europe for the last 40 years. As a travel writer I have confidently shared our discovery of this wonderful place with many friends and readers. From the moment you arrive you receive a warm greeted by the most professional and caring staff. Everyone is attentive and truly want to make your stay a good one. When we arrived mid day we went to the pool for a wonderful lunch. Near us was a table with an attractive family, of 3 generations and their family dog, They were the family who owns and manages the property , ”eating their own cooking” as we say, and enjoying the quiet loveliness of their own property. There are 3 choices of accommodations here, each wonderful and meeting special preferences. We stayed in the Palazzo and loved it, but the Castello/Castle and its garden and views are outstanding. The rooms in the beautifully renovated stables with large grass common area are very accommodating, especially for families with children. The whole property is a destination in itself with so many things to see. We had breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks, all in totally different environments, and it all was superb. In closing, we all know that the staff makes all the difference wherever we stay. Again, the staff, and owners, could not be more welcoming, joyful and professional. A warm thank you to Guendalina, Andrea, Patricia, Julio, Gianluca, Lucia and Martina! H. Browne, Palm Beach Florida

It’s just not good, it’s too good for vacation. The room is perfect. The entire corner of the manor is very clean. Although the front desk has a strange accent, it is a very reassuring resort hotel. The little castle just happened to have a wedding. It took a very nice and quiet day. Everything is very good, breakfast is not much, but it is delicious. The set menu of 70 euros for dinner is recommended. In addition to the location, there is no great scenery. The hotel is very good.

It is a grand old hotel though well maintained with modern comfortable rooms. The beds were good. There is an indoor and outdoor swimming pool. The grassy area outdoors near the pool is a great place to sit and look at the lake and at Isola Bella. Service was very good. Only problem was the food. We were here as part of a group and had half board. Breakfast was OK, but dinner was very spotty. Mostly not so good, a few good meals. Avoid the fish, always way overcooked. If you are not tied to a group walk into town for dinners.
- Guest User
IMHO this is an ex luxury 4* hotel now catering for large coach groups providing 3* service and food. We were part of a small walking group there for the week unlike most visitors who were on the ”lakes coach tour”, just there for a night. This makes it all seem unfriendly, cold and with no coziness. Bar very expensive and you don't even see the price you're charging to the room and then they add 5% for ”Service” which is very questionable. So suggest you don't come as a couple! The food is a reasonable mass catering (several hundred a night) standard (but don't expect 4* Italian). The huge dining room is divided in two with different levels of food provision in different sides (including no breakfast toaster on our side!) - weird for a 4* hotel! Nevertheless for our small group it was ok and the staff were very helpful in providing alternative pillows very quickly and providing a mains converter for the 3 pin vertical italian sockets. The grounds are very nice and it is a wonderful location. And the coffee out of the machine in the morning was surprisingly good.

We stayed 6 nights this August at the Astoria, it was an average stay. The positives, the view from our hotel room was to die for, the breakfast, pool and porters staff were super helpful and friendly, plenty of hanging and cupboard space for clothes, location excellent. We paid over £260 per night for our room. Negatives, the room and bathroom were too small, the toilet was behind the door so you had to walk in, close the door so to get to the toilet. A bit difficult during the night as didn't want to wake husband by putting the light on. There was no room to rest you toilet bag or toiletries in the bathroom. The walls were very so could hear next doors every move, cough, sneeze, toilet flush, baby crying the last 2 nights etc. Rooms could do with an update as dated and carpets a clean. Reception staff pleasant apart from check out. We got our invoice, asked a question, no eye contact what's so ever. Not very helpful man, we paid, said thank you and no acknowledgement AT ALL in fact wasn't interested at all. Thought he was an owner but was told he was an employee. Not good for the company! Let the reception desk down big time. We won't be staying there again. Would rather pay more and stay at the one next door or even further down as they also had entertainment in the evening but not the Astoria. The staff (except this man at reception) made our stay.

What a fabulous experience! It looked like the whole of the hotel had been very recently refurbished. The staff were professional and friendly. The room with the breathtaking view over Lake Maggiore was compact but very well appointed. The pool with integral jacuzzi was spotless. The restaurant had views over the lake from all the tables. There was a very good choice of food and the waiters were most helpful especially Sadin who couldn't help you enough. He was attentive, friendly and efficient. The hotel was a very short walk from the town and the water taxis. We had a daily trip on the lake to nearby islands and the other side of the lake. The nearby gardens were exceptional! The hotel was well positioned, comfortable and very well appointed. We would certainly return..

The staff of the Grand Hotel Palace was knowledgeable and helpful with our every request. They summoned taxies, gave recommendations for restaurants which were very good, and were always very welcoming. The rooms were large, clean, and bright. We especially enjoyed the extensive breakfast buffet which offered both hot and cold options and was kept well stocked. The hotel itself is in a good location, across from the American Embassy. There were several good restaurants nearby and, of course, a gelato shop two blocks away. We would recommend this hotel for an enjoyable stay in Rome.

The hotel is rebuilt from an ancient monastery. It is located in the center of the scenic spot. Within 300 meters of going out, there are various monuments such as Trajan's Column. It is walking distance to the Trevi Fountain and the Colosseum. The hotel is taking a niche luxury route, except that the instant coffee in the room is slightly downgraded, a small bottle of mineral water in the refrigerator is 2 euros, and there is room service at night. You can think of yourself as eating in Disneyland at the price of various services. Can. However, the air conditioner in the room is only cooling but not heating, so it was very cold after the heating was stopped in April.

From being looked after since we came through the door til the end of our stay we were given amazing service and the staff couldn’t do enough for us. We enjoyed a 3 night stay at Rose Palace. The front desk gave us tired travelers a warm welcome that made us relax immediately. Our room overlooked the back of the American Embassy with guards stationed outside 24/7 so it was definitely safe. The hotel is a little off the beaten path from the usual touristy spots in Rome but in a very quiet area. The room was very clean. We had 3 in our room and the 3rd person had to sleep on a full size pull out couch. It was comfy for a pull out (you couldn’t feel the bar under the mattress) but unless you put up the bed every day the only place to sit were the beds. It had a small fridge and the bathroom was updated but limited on counter space around the sink. The buffet breakfast was geared toward a variety of tastes. Scrambled eggs, a variety of pastries, orange juice, fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal, cheese, meat, etc. When the weather was nice we enjoyed sitting outside in the garden. There is a tiny grocery store called Co-op around the corner where you can buy the basics. Also on the next block is an ATM in the alcove of the bank entrance that seemed secure to use. Reading older reviews we thought there was a restaurant in the hotel serving dinner but it turned out to just be a small bar. So we walked a couple of blocks north and ate at Cesarina and enjoyed a good meal and friendly staff. There were a lot of other restaurants to pick from in a 2-3 block radius. The ones on Via Vittorio Veneto appeared to be more expensive than the ones northeast of the hotel. There is a taxi stand a couple of blocks away and we used both Uber and inTaxi for rides back to the hotel.

The hotel is in a good location and the front desk is very nice. I have stayed at this hotel twice. I lived for more than 2,000 nights for the first time. I stayed for more than 500 nights and stayed in the building where I checked in. The soundproofing of the hotel is really bad, and the next door can be heard clearly. The room for more than two thousand and one night is no different from the new one in the room toilet facilities of more than 500. Two large bed rooms were set up, all of which were put together in two small beds (not found at the time of check-in). This time, more than 500 rooms have a lot to describe.

The hotel is very modern, lovely sized room and really comfy bed! You get a hairdryer in the room (ladies!) and there is a mini fridge to leave your own drinks. Aircon worked perfectly and some fancy lighting above the bed! Really close to the 160 bus stop that takes you to the centre of Rome for €1.50 (pre pay on the app!) and also some lovely restaurants and cafes for food. Short walk from the 716 bus to take you to Rome Termini. Lovely staff- although confusing when one member let us have water complimentary and another charged for it. Only improvements would be to have tea coffee in the room for in a morning, and also don’t expect the Beth room to be super clean- in need of a little TLC.

Near the Vatican City Rome|2.09km from city center
Not far from the Angel Castle and the Vatican. There are also some small supermarkets and large supermarkets around, which can meet temporary needs. There are several restaurants on the way to the attractions, but the taste is difficult to eat, salty and fresh, or it is poor attitude, English is lame, and Italian is not standard. The employees are not really locals. It is recommended to eat at attractions or downtown. Check-in waited for a long time, it was impossible to wait, the speed of processing was Italian. Don't like chatting between colleagues. This is a Delta flight attendant hotel, after all, it is impossible to live around Rome Airport. The room type has a small balcony, you can experience the heat of the Italian night. Compared with the same nh hotel, the hardware is good, the bathroom is very good, there is a foot basin, there are many towels, and 2 TVs and a small living room. Daylight is also sufficient, and internal light is also available. Breakfast was okay and there were many varieties. Cheese had local characteristics, but no ham. The drink is too sweet. It is quite satisfactory. The coffee machine actually has no characteristics, a bit regrettable, how should there be an espresso, no ... Come to the airport, the rental price is too expensive, the bus is cheap, but the service is very poor, there is no service in Italy. Very similar to the front desk.

Lots of on site parking. Laundry service recommended across the hotel were amazing and friendly. Room was very small though. Blow dryer didn’t work. Not enough bench space in the bathroom. Overall cleanliness was great. The fridge was nice and cold. Although they don’t have a stocked fridge and you would have to go down to get bottled water. Variety of breakfast choices. Drinks were okay and coffee was from an instant coffee machine which was okay. Staff weren’t around often to ask for fresh coffee. Front concierge were friendly though and very helpful.

The hotel is in a nice location with a train entrance just down the street. It was very clean, our room was very nice for the four of us and the hotel personnel were very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed their breakfast every morning- it had a.good selection of breakfast food. Several great restaurants in the area. We enjoyed the wine bar next door - great food and wine. We also had wonderful drinks at Gatsby’s on the other side of the hotel. It was a 15 minute walk from the main train station which was not bad at all. We had a wonderful dinner around the corner at Vecchia Roma- you must make a reservation or get there before they open to get in line. We got there 15 minutes after they opened and waited 35 minutes for a table but it was worth it. We enjoyed our visit and would stay here again.

Deserves to be a five-star hotel, the service is amazing, and the bedding is very comfortable. Excellent location right on top of the Spanish steps. Because I booked six nights, I got a free room with a small balcony. As soon as I entered the room, I was pleasantly surprised. There were welcome fruits and a welcome card with my name printed on it (still bilingual in Chinese and English). The cleaning service is professional and clean. Free water and chocolate every day and a bottle of red wine. There is a Mixing restaurant on the sixth floor of the hotel. Unfortunately, I did not go to taste this time. Before I left, I went to the restaurant on the first floor of his house. Angus steak was superb and delicious. In short, such a hotel is worth going to Rome again.
