By a country mile, The Port is the best hotel in Eastbourne, for me. It is also one of my favourites in the whole of the UK. Friendly, professional staff. The whole experience is seamless. the aesthetic is unique and absolutely pitched perfectly. peaceful, beautiful, and highly enjoyable. the bar is stocked and curated to exactly my taste. Location - perfect Parking - easy Menu & kitchen- Excellent.... whoever is on the crew in the kitchen - you are smashing it out of the park consistently - try the lobster roll, essential eating when you are there. The Port is a Belter, if you need to be in Eastbourne - book it, you will not be sorry. Thanks again to the teams for consistently delivering an excellent stay.

Our first time at The View Hotel .. and we were not disappointed ! After arriving in the morning, Reception gave us a discounted parking ticket that allowed us to have parking directly outside the Hotel for just £2.00. After having a day out in Eastbourne Town, we returned to find that the sea view room that had been allocated to us ( Room 712 ) had excellent views of the sea and the Pier. We found the whole Hotel to be clean, tidy and modern - and the same applied to our room. We loved the location of the View Hotel, as we were within 10 min walking distance of the town and local bars and restaurants. Breakfast was excellent with a really good variety and we had a lovely view of the sea from our breakfast table. One of the best breakfasts that we have had in a Hotel in a long time. All staff were really helpful and accommodating and that was really appreciated. Full credit to Claire Prysor-Jones and the View Hotel Team for making out stay a really pleasurable experience and we will certainly be returning again and have no hesitation in recommending this Hotel to others.. Rob & Angela - We had fun at Planet Golf (on the Pier) - Glow In The Dark Crazy Golf - We had a nice meal and enjoyed the live music at The Belgian Cafe - Visited the Wish Tower Memorial - Next to the Wish Tower .. Bistro Pierre ( great menu / food at a good price / lovely views)

We have just returned from a 3 night stay at The View. This hotel has a lovely location with wonderful views of the coast from most rooms. We had a king size balcony room. The room had been well valeted prior our arrival and the staff were very welcoming. The staff were really good throughout. The breakfast was very well presented and of good quality albeit the almost inevitable buffet. This was not a cheap stay with the room cost averaging over £200 per night and we do not believe that it represented good value for money. Our whole stay was marred by the standard of housekeeping. We returned to the room on the Sunday afternoon to find it half valeted. I had bled from a small cut on the head onto the pillow case. I made sure that I left the pillow blood side up to ensure that it was not missed. The bed had not been made and the pillow simply turned over. The bathroom was not cleaned, the cups and glasses unwashed and the tea tray had not been cleaned or refreshed. We reported this to reception but it took a very long time for housekeeping to come and complete the valeting. To make matters worse the young lady admitted that she valeted the room but said that she had not turned the pillow over. A plain lie. So although hotel has good points we will not be visiting again.

Fantastic hotel very clean nice friendly staff beautiful view from our room . Good selection for breakfast and a good full English. Nice and peaceful place good surroundings ie pier right opposite hotel good local restaurants shops etc all round great experience

Chose to stay in Eastbourne after visiting a friend in Seaford. Firstly Eastbourne has changed a hell of a lot. Not for the better. Infact its now equal to those dreadful east coast resorts like lowestoft and Clacton. We chose the pier Hotel as the website promised great things at good value. The hotel decor is lovely, however the rooms (singles) were not as planned. One room was fine, and is the one pictured in brochure, however the other single was much smaller bizarre shaped Bathroom, with hot tap stuck off and no lids on either tap. The toilet was terribly placed and there was no shelf, no glass, and dusty. The room had cobwebs everywhere and had 2 screws where a mirror should be. It was the same price as the better room, but was 2/3 the size. Avoid at all cost, and especially Eastbourne. Choose Brighton instead.

Service was great, the worker was really lovely and we came at a really late time as we travelled from far so called in to confirm if we could check in late and they were lovely. Security is good as building is locked and guarded at night and the view of beach is lovely. Only downside is hotel needs a revamp, as its quite old some aspects look and feel a bit spooky.

Have stayed here many times and the staff are always provide great service. The reception & housekeeping team are friendly and very helpful. My single room was spacious and comfortable, although the mattress could be firmer - my personal preference only. I also had a sea view which was a lovely surprise.

Upon reading past reviews, we wasn't expecting much, we arrived on the first day of the hotel reopening, well, partial reopening, and must say, compared to the images online, the hotel is on another level, smarter, clean, lovely furnishings. We was the first in the room, first to use the new furniture, first to use the new really big smart tv. When we arrived, we was greeted by the Manager, Ashley, who explained everything so clearly to us, from what's happening in the hotel, what we booked, what we can do, and the local area. A little slow to start with, but wasn't his fault, apparently a new system was implemented and he was training another staff member, we was happy to wait as we did arrive the moment they reopened their doors. Also, the team are lovely, friendly and very accommodating, nothing was too little or too big. Breakfast was amazing, pastries, yoghurt, cheese, beverages, fruit etc, again we was hosted on by Ashley, and guess what.....we was checked out by Ashley too, smooth checkout, he asked us how our stay was and wished us a good day, what an asset he is, and such a friendly and funny gentleman. We will definitely recommend and return. Do not worry about negative reviews, we really enjoyed our stay here.

The hotel is clean and is still going through improvements and updates , meeting rooms are in the process of development. My overnight stay and breakfast came to just under £40. It isn’t the Ritz but for the price I paid it was worth the money. My room was comfortable and warm all the amenities worked well and the dinning room was clean and spacious. The location is right in the seafront and parking is plentiful. However the biggest asset for this hotel is the staff , they were helpful and knew their jobs well. As I suggested it’s not 5 star but for the money I wasn’t disappointed.

Reviews From Real Travelers
So this place was extremely disappointing! To say dated is being polite. We had booked a 4 night stay. Firstly we arrived and my husband had ti go find parking down a busy main road which you have to pay extra for daily. I took myself to the room only to find the smallest room I've ever seen with the smallest window, it was no bigger than a broom cupboard with the smallest window and it was so hot! There was no fan! I found out later that you have to ask for a fan! Why not leave them in the room when it's hot? It's been the hottest summer. As soon as my husband arrived, he was also little shocked and how small the room was so I called down to reception to find out if they had any bigger rooms and maybe a sea view and luckily there was one avaliable. Of we was staying just a night then I would have made the best of it. It cost another £80 for the upgrade. We went through to the bigger room with a sea view and the lady on reception brough us a fan! It becomes apparent how dated this hotel really is when the pillows on the bed are like rocks. The mattress protector is just old throws layer under the sheets. The bed was two singles pushed together and two single duvets. The beds are old and lumpy. Bearly slept over the 4 nights. The bathroom was terrible! I'm 5ft 3in and the shower over the bath was too low for me. There was hardly any water pressure. There was stains in the old tin like bath. The toilet roll was a tissue paper dispenser. Some random tiles place over the old white tiles over toilet which looked so out of place. Nowhere to put anything in the bathroom. I won't even start with the off coloured grouting. Two plugs in the whole room so had to keep uploading things whenever we used the kettle! One evening when we returned I went to use the small lift and it was full of cleaning stuff! Another occasion when leaving the room we nearly feel over the cable to the hoover which was plugged across our door and the cable was about a foot of the floor and cleaning supplies all over the floor! This hotel has nothing, no charm, no personal touches. With so many hotels in Eastbourne you'd think you'd want to stand out but I don't think anyone's cared about this place since the 80s. I don't tend to complain but for the price it wasn't worth it, you are paying for the location and not a decent room. The lady who upgraded us was lovely, she was the only good point to this place. I did laugh at the ”no smoking in this vehicle” sticker on the bath of the bathroom door.

Excellent hotel with family based staff who are exemplary and friendly. Because of the extremity of heat in London, I decided to motorcycle down to the coast and decided to frequent Eastbourne and find a room for the day. Upon arrival I was welcomed and greeted by a very professional and friendly concierge manager. I was delighted with the cleanliness of my double room. Lovely and light this hotel maintains excellent standards and the selection of breakfasts was impressive. Absolutely delicious. 💯 Definitely intend to come here again. A short but very enjoyable stay.

We stayed for 3 nights as a family with children under the age of 6 and had the best time. The hotel service is exceptional, every need was met. As soon as we arrived we were greeted by the valet who helped us park the car and take our bags. They reserved our space for us with a board for the whole stay. The children received a kids backpack with hat, yo-yo and colouring in. We went straight down to the health club to the indoor pool. When we came out the reception said our room was now ready and collected the keys for us. Our room was a junior suite, it spotless and sizeable with drinks provided on ice and slippers for everyone. In the evening the children could order complimentary milk and cookies which they loved. The outdoor pool was heated and lovely when the sun was out, this was end of may/June. There also was a waiter serving drinks outside. The breakfast was amazing, great selection and the kids loved have every meal served with a cloche and countdown reveal. The added extras on the service make this a wonderful hotel. The positives far outweigh the negatives, I guess it could do with some new carpets and some new upholstery but the charm of the old building supersedes this and although old it was very clean. The bed mattress was ok, quite soft. The sofa bed wasn’t very comfortable but ok for young children. We will be back again!! Thank you

We were as part of our wedding trip in Eastbourne, at Chatsworth Hotel. The location was directly at the sea/ pier. However, you were in a few minutes walk directly in the city center. The hotel itself has charm, the staff was always friendly and helpful. Very nice rooms. Specially the chair remains in mind. We would go back immediately, clear recommendation

We stayed in room 121 , spacious, no view but it was only a base , biggest issue noise above someone walking around early for hours, squeaky floor boards , hotel quiet, otherwise .. We parked ok, can be awkward depends on time but we parked out on front both times, we moved car . Parking £2 , covered until 11am in morning , purchase another ticket so you can stay for day your leaving . We purchased breakfast £7.50 each , basic buy adequate with toast , hot drinks , fruit , croissants and muffins . Staff all very helpful and pleasant , budget hotel but adequate

We recently stayed at this beautiful historic hotel on Eastbourne’s stunning seafront. I cannot fault the quality of our stay. The hotel has been beautifully refurbished and is an oasis of peace and calm. The dining experience is exquisite and the delicious breakfasts are hearty and plentiful. The staff go out of their way to help and the rooms are spotlessly clean and comfortable. The views out to see are breathtaking. We’ve stayed in several hotels in Eastbourne but this one is our absolute favourite by far. We will be returning again and again. Thank you to all the lovely staff for our fantastic weekend.

Booked to stay at this hotel on Hotels.com. Due to a glitch, the dates I had chosen changed when I minimised the screen to find a promo code, and I didn't realise until the booking was confirmed. Saw immediately the error and went onto Live Chat. Advisor was very helpful and said the hotel's policy was no penalty if amended within 10 minutes. I had started the conversation within 3 minutes, so no problem. I was put on hold whilst Hotels.com contacted the hotel. Unfortunately that conversation was disconnected whilst on hold. The 2nd advisor picked up where the first left off but this time the hotel said no as 10 minutes had now passed. How ridiculous is that? The advisor at Hotels.com escalated this to a manager at the hotel, but still they would not honour their own policy. The Hotels.com advisor was brilliant and gave me a voucher to the value of the booking and they took the hit. The OYO Marine Parade Hotel have no integrity and I would not attempt to book with them again.

Reception staff most unhelpful and not forthcoming with giving information. When booking I sent an email asking where we could eat with our dog that was booked in and paid for. I have no problem paying extra to take the dog but I do expect a reply, I didn't get one. When we checked in I asked again to be told that we could not have an evening meal as dogs were not allowed but we could have a light lunch menu or snack. Not what we wanted after travelling for 3.5 hours. We went somewhere else to eat. We asked about breakfast to be told we could eat in our bedroom or in the library. We opted for the library but it is very difficult and bad for the digestion to eat a hot breakfast on a lounge table, just the right height for the dog. We really did feel like outsiders. Dogs may be welcome but the owners are not. Must say the restaurant staff were lovely and I think they felt embarrassed about the whole thing. It would make it slightly better if they had a table the right height to eat.

Hotel is in a great position with only a road between it and the sea.Parking in the road outside is by permit which you can buy at reception for £2 per day.If you have a blue badge parking is free.Free parking is also available in lots of side streets but in high season could be tricky. To get into the hotel you have to climb 5 very steep steps so if you have mobility problems this is not the hotel for you. There are also steps inside to get to the dining room. There are two very small lifts which can help you miss out some of the stairs but not all. The staff on reception were all very polite and knowledgable. We were a bit disappointed that there were no leaflets telling you where to go or what to do but the local tourist board are perhaps not up to speed after the winter. It is a very old building and upstairs is like a warren of one person wide corridors. As we were paying a very competitive price for our four day stay we had no great expectations for our room which was just as well. The bedroom was very small just large enough for a double bed single wardrobe and a dressing table with one chair. The bathroom also was very small with a tiny shower based on a high plinth which made it impossible for anyone not fully mobile to get into. However the bed was very comfortable and the bedding was clean and fresh. We were given plenty of clean towels and the tea, coffee etc were refilled daily. Renovations were ongoing whilst we were there so maybe our room was still to be done. The dining room staff were amazing ,efficient polite and speedy.Breakfast was the usual hotel fare with plentiful tea and coffee and hot food served to the table. The evening meal had four choices for each course definitely not cordon blue but perfectly edible. There was no opportunity to buy wine in the dining room but always a jug of water on the table and as much tea and coffee as you want. We would definitely stay here again but would ask about a room upgrade.
