THE GOOD: The hotel was recently renovated, rooms are nicely renovated with beautiful bathrooms. A nice size fitness center and a small but nice pool area. THE BAD: Wifi was absolutely horrible, there was ZERO wi-fi service in the lobby, restaurant or pool area. The Wi-fit would connect for 2 - 3 seconds then drop. When I asked the attended at the café if I could use the Westin Meeting wi-fi I was told no, they don’t have the password. In my room every so often the wi-fi would drop and it would take 20 – 30 minutes to reconnect!!! Furthermore, the power outlet at the desk was dead, there was also no power near the bed to plug in your laptop! Sadly, the food and beverage offerings at this hotel are on par with a Holiday Inn Express. There is no full-service restaurant, just a grab and go café which serves mediocre food. There is a limited breakfast buffet in the morning with poor quality food. On both mornings of my stay the scrambled eggs were a rubbery mess, the breakfast potatoes lacked flavor. The only item that seemed decent to eat were the fresh berries and bread. The quality of the food from room service/grab and go was also upsetting. If you want a full-service dinning experience, you are told to walk over to the Sheraton…. really? BTW: I was told the hotel kitchen is also located at the Sheraton, food is not cooked onsite at the Westin. Hospitality at the hotel is hit and miss. The front desk seems pleasant, but staff were very hesitant to go the extra mile to please… they lacked the hospitality soft skills I have experienced at other hotels of the same caliber. Café staff is very unhelpful, not very friendly, I receive a far better guest experience at my local In-N-Out Burger. In the end if you are expecting an upscale hotel experience in the Palo Alto / Stanford area the Westin disappoints. For the price I would expect a memorable experience, one where you would hate to leave and could not wait to return. During my stay I was looking forward to leaving, I really felt like it was a waste of $$$ and time staying here. When I left, I felt like I had just stayed at a Holiday Inn express with upscale rooms. Hotel should be rebranded... it's not an upscale full service hotel that is about hospitality with a mindset of wellness.

The hotel is close to Stanford university, the price is small, the parking lot is free, no breakfast, the service is very good, the surrounding is convenient, there is a big Sichuan dish at 300 meters, next to the gas station

I would give 0 stars. I got the okey-doke. When I read the hotel website, they kept emphasizing the ”luxury” and described hard wood flooring, I found neither luxury nor hardwood (laminate is accurate). The walls are paper thin and you can hear anyone chatting even a normal volume. The sink had a terrible leak that seemed like half the water was falling onto the floor. I have attached pictures of the dirty room. Trash by the coffee maker, dust on the alarm (time was not set, I unplugged because for it being located in silicone valley, I found the number of outlets near the bed disappointedly low), dust on the light switch (they CLEARLY were not concerned with wiping high-touch surfaces), and VERY questionable ”white drops” in the corner of the bed. Ew. I would NEVER stay here again. The cute lobby, fire pit, and friendly checkin staff did not make up for this place making me feel dirty. I couldn't wait to check out.

Staying with children, the hotel is next to Moma, and it is also super close to Union Square, the commercial street. The breakfast in the hotel can only be eaten at the small restaurant on the first floor. The product is good, but the price is a bit outrageous, and a breakfast with a tip costs more than 100 knives Personally, I don't think it's worth it. It's better to go out of the hotel and eat on the street. The size of the room is small, suitable for two people, and it will be a little crowded if there is one more person.

We’ve stayed several St.Regis and this was one of the best. Amazing service and fantastic views of the city in the heart of downtown. The service really stands out. The bed was comfortable, the bathtub was fabulous to soaking. The staff was very professional and welcoming. We will be back someday.

Great stay at the FS as always. I must say that I was a little worried with all the recent press about SF and Market St in particular. I had not been to the city in years but I can report that the demise of SF has been greatly exaggerated. The FS as usual is a respite from the outside world. The beds are super comfy, the service is great, wonderful bar. The breakfast at MKT is pretty good, some items (corned beef hash) miss, but others (Migas) hit. Great value.

This hotel is a must stay in San Francisco. The staff is consistent and the hotel is always very clean and well maintained. I always feel safe, and supported by the hotel team when I stay here which is a plus for a single female traveler. This hotel always executes at a 5 star level. The rooms, the food, the housekeeping, the staff in general make the experience every time for me. Highly recommend a stay here.

Four Seasons at Embarcadero was simply not worthy of a five-stars hotel. I’ve even completed a survey at the end of our stay which not the general manager reached out instead the administrative assistant. After my message revealing it was a generic response from her, she ghosted right after. Do you think that warranted five-stars for ghosting a guest that just stayed at your property? No. Obviously they simply do not care, which was an utter shame. In addition to that, the check-in process was a complete mess (checking in twice on the same day), room wasn’t ready close to 5pm (despite being asked by their team a couple of days when we will be arriving) and customer service simply was not that of five-stars. Sure, the suite was lovely and so were the corner views but despite how well done those points were - without customer service and being organized and on top of your game, it didn’t warrant five stars at all for a Four Seasons property. For such a pretty penny, this felt like highway robbery.

Location-excellent, what I think is a relatively safe area. Walked about a mile to the alcaztraz tour at pier 33. Great restaurants. Fitness center is top notch. Service fantastic all around. Views are ridiculous at the upper levels. Food in room and restaurant second to none. This hotel is worth the money and it wasn’t as much as many FS.

I am currently at the Palo Alto Inn and really happy with the overall experience. The manager could accommodate some additional requests I had, the room is very big and receives almost no noise from the traffic. Cleanliness is great. The rooms are well equipped - fridge, microwave, tea+coffee machine, TV, safe, plenty of USB charger ports. There were some complimentary drinks and sweets as a nice bonus. The location is OK, you have to walk 15-20 minutes along the El Camino in either way to hit places with some choice of place to eat or do groceries from, but that's not terrible. If you are driving anyway, it does not matter. You can also take a bus. --- Martin

My goodness what a perfect little inn. It looks cute and quaint from the outside but the room was very modern. Very clean room with all the amenities of a much larger hotel. Refrigerator, microwave, safe, in-room beverages and complimentary toiletries. Honestly, I never expected this level of attention to detail based on how affordable the room was. Very quick and easy check in as well with the very courteous staff. They also allow for a cash deposit which means no waiting to get that back. Very quiet with plenty of free parking. Needless to stay we found our new favorite place to stay when in Palo Alto.

My favorite hotel I’ve ever stayed at. Gorgeous, clean, and a wonderful location. The restaurant was wonderful, and so was our server (Kayla I think?). Just a beautiful, enjoyable stay. My only wish is that it was more natural light in the room, but it’s the name of the game in city hotels. I am now a forever 1 Hotel convert. Also immediately bought a 70oz Santal candle in an effort to recreate the scent of the lobby in my home! I felt like I was in a spa the entire length of my stay. Run, don’t walk, to this hotel!

Got in from a cross country flight and immediately went to the spa. My massage therapist Achara was incredible - equal parts relaxing while also working out my kinks. Best scalp massage too. While the spa itself is small, it is still very luxurious. Highly recommend booking!

average visit, maybe I expected more given their reputation. I visited SF for a two-day concert so I expected not to stay too much in my room anyways. Picked the Ritz primarily for the location. Also this was my first time staying under my own name so always wanted to get the welcome envelope with my name on it. (They misspelled it 😔) Booked via Amex’s FHR primarily for the early check-in at around noon and late checkout. I received an upgrade to a City View room but I must’ve arrived too early because my room was not really prepared. It had a few missing amenities like slippers, dental kits, combs etc. No welcome gifts other than chocolate. Only ate breakfast there but food is okay. Great portions though! Most of the time, I left the hotel at 10/11am and came back after midnight. One time no valet was there to pick up my car so had to call and request someone to pickup my car. Otherwise, all other services and staff were pleasant. The bedding and Frette linens were fantastic and it helped me sleep well. You also get a bottle of water EVERYTIME you pick up your car from the valet! I actually really like this since the only thing I could bring to the venue were sealed water bottles! Wifi was good, great for work and meetings. For a 5-star hotel, it wasn’t amazing compared to what I had heard. Might pass next time I’m in SF.

I had a fantastic time at this hotel. I booked a fairmont exterior king room with a view. The room itself was nice but what I really liked was the walk in wardrobe and luxurious marble bathroom with his and hers sinks. Breakfast at the hotel and dinner in the Tonga room was also really good. Customer Service was top dollar. The only criticisms I would have are that:- 1) There was only one functioning lift from the main foyer to hotel rooms, 2) upon checking in a hold fee of $100 per night is placed on your debit/ credit card (only returnable 5-7 days after departure) and 3) some of the meals were overpriced, I was charged approx $55 for a medium sized pizza and bottle of water on one night. Overall, enjoyed my stay and would return.

I used to be a frequent guest at the W SF back when it was Starwood but had not visited since Marriott took over the W Brand. I did try and stay last year but before arriving I read that the restaurant was closed and I asked the hotel what they were doing as an alternative, but they had absolutely nothing for Platinum Breakfast (other than 1k points per stay which is a HUGE downgrade), so I opted for another hotel. I had high expectations for this stay as I had previously loved this hotel, but as a frequent traveler in Marriott brands and having one of their Highest Elite traveler statuses (and staying at W Brands lately), I knew service levels were still suffering post pandemic. Unfortunately, it started low right from the beginning. I had confirmed a Studio Suite in advance. When I arrived, I was given a corner room that almost seemed smaller than standard rooms (Room 2109). I inquired about upgrades to larger rooms, and I was told no, because it was a busy weekend, and nothing would be available. I checked on the app and saw that every room type was available for the length of my stay and beyond. I was basically DOWNGRADED. Once settling into the room, then I realized the major issues. Smaller rooms should be easier to clean, right? Well, this one not only had carpet stains, but I quickly found out that the ”Marriott Commitment to Clean” was actually a Commitment to Ignore. Not only were their stains on the carpet and dust and dirt in the windowsills, I found a previous guest's room keys sitting on the counter. Obviously, the room was just ”re-set” and not inspected or cleaned at all. I guess the promised sanitizing was out of the question. We then went to get some ice and noticed that the ice bucket was half filled with standing water. It was disgusting! Thats not the worst part, I then found a pair of women's ”play-style” lingerie slightly soiled sitting on the floor by the sofa. I mentioned the cleanliness issues to the Front Desk, but the representative simply stared at me and then asked if there was anything else I needed? I should have been a bit more insistent that they take it down, but I was so shocked I did not. The room setup, although smaller than what I wanted and pre-confirmed, was also not great. There is no storage at all other than the closet. There are no drawers at all or other places to keep clothes or anything else. If you have two suitcases, you are going to have to keep them out as there is no place to put them in the closet. Other than the Front Desk and Room Condition, we had a nice stay, although the Room is really what we paid for. The rest of the staff we interacted with were friendly and helpful. The breakfast staff were great, and the food was amazing! Kudos for them for sure! Actually, the only place I was every recognized or thanked for being a Marriott Elite was from the hostess at Breakfast. The bellhop was also quite nice and helpful when we checked-out and needed to store lugga

Location of the hotel is good. As told, left side of the hotel is more safe than the right side as there are not many homeless people on the left side. The hotel provides daily cleaning and refills bath amenities automatically. The air conditioning is quite cool but can be adjusted, nevertheless, the blanket is not thick enough which slightly affected sleeping quality.

We chose this hotel because of the location for getting to the trolley, a Hop-on Hop-off tour stop, the local bus system, and the nearby BART system. For this it did not disappoint. The price is reasonable, and the hotel was very clean, and the staff was very friendly. From this, I digress. The noise level during the nights, was that a very loud level. All from external. Sirens, music, loud cars and trucks going by, garbage trucks in the middle of the night, quite a bit of yelling, and the like. Normal ear plugs did not help. If you stay here, you will need some heavy duty ear plugs. We get up earlier and the hotel lobby coffee was not ready ever before 7:00 a.m. there is coffee in the room, however if you need real creamer, you'll be out of luck until 7:00 approximately. Not a terrible review, just want people to be aware.

The front desk staff (Ben & Daimler) greeted me with HUGE smiles after a long flight. They offered me a much needed quiet room and even upgraded me to a beautiful suite. Complimentary wine tasting was going on in the lobby with live music. My room was beautiful and very clean. After unpacking, I realized I forgot toothpaste. I went downstairs on my way to dinner and asked the front desk if they had any extras, they brought it to my room along with an extra toothbrush while I was gone (amazing!). Great location. The location is convenient, the hotel has a strange smell, and the computer system is easy to break. We waited for a long time during the check-in. The location is perfect, easy to access all the famous spots in SF. Overall service was also nice. However, the facilities in the bathroom need to replace with new ones, or, at least, it needs to be fixed. 1. the drain in the sink was clogged, so water went down slowly. 2. I hoped to take a rest from the fatigue of my long journey with a lower-body bath, but it was almost impossible since the tub cap looks like broken, and the water in the tub kept leaking. It was a somewhat disappointing experience considering the hotel is regarded as the best one in SF.

I stayed here during a conference where the price was raised to $240/night. If the price had been quite a bit lower as it might normally be, I probably wouldn't complain much. The location is hard to beat in terms of proximity to Union Square and the Moscone Center, and the front desk staff was friendly. Other reviews have noted that the rooms are dated--and I found that to be true as well. But, my room was clean. The wifi worked, and the rooms were insulated from noise from adjoining rooms. However, there was hardly any noise isolation from the outside. I was on the 6th floor facing Geary Street, and I could hear just about everything going on well into the evening. The heat in my room was also not working until my last night there--and that combined with very thin covers left me pretty cold (though the bed itself was comfortable). When the heat did work, it made a strange noise reminiscent of a dying cat, so I ended up turning it off anyway. One tip for taller or larger travelers: I am 5' 2'', and the shower head was only 2 inches above my head. So if you're much taller than me, you'll be bending down to rinse your hair. You'll also find the bathroom overall to be quite small.
