Reviews From Real Travelers
Let me start off by saying I am not one to write reviews, as a self-proclaimed lazy person. This is probably the second or third time in my life I’ve had to collect the words to help anyone that may want to stay at this establishment. This is a “glamping” place, where supposed glamour and camping come to a pinnacle of outdoor luxury. By all accounts, it was neither glamorous, nor camping. To quickly summarize, if you’re expecting luxury do not stay here. I highly recommend Hoshinoya Fuji if you want real glamping in the Fuji area. Please continue reading for the specific accounts of my experience: • The first red flag was during check-in. As we walk up to our room, we see right in front of the outdoor deck is a 20-foot drop, and all I can say to describe it, is a cesspool with stagnant water, with water trickling into it. This, mind you, is the most expensive “suite” type room, running well over $1,000 USD a night. It’s downright deceitful, and when looking at their website, the picture of this room is taken at an angle that innocently cuts out this area and nowhere is it mentioned. The bathroom area is separated from the bedroom by the outdoor area, which means you need to go outside to go to the bathroom. The cleanliness of the room, furniture and amenities were very subpar. If someone found a hint of luxury, please let me know because I couldn’t find it. • The second is the lack of privacy, and most egregious, the attitude of the staff. Staff members come to your room without any notice and feel they can walk into the site freely. It was shocking. And when we tried to get one to come to our room when we actually needed them, the phone went unanswered. One staff walks into the middle of our BBQ dinner, opened up the grill without asking and says that we still have so much uneaten food and that our 2-hour time to BBQ was up. No one informed us that that a 2-hour BBQ time limit was a rule. He has the audacity to say that we were keeping him from going home! He then goes on to tell us that we aren’t allowed to continue eating and that the food must be thrown out. Some of the food was ordered shortly before he arrived. If we had known the time limit, we would have managed our time. This was unacceptable, so we decide to call the manager, but low and behold, that man was the MANAGER! • The third was the low-quality food. The tomahawk steaks looked cool, but the bite we had a chance to eat before being thrown away was not good. The next morning’s breakfast was something out of an economy class airline. Tasteless spam sandwich and children’s yogurt and apple juice box. Give me a break! In the end, we should have done some more research on this place. The parent company, FUJITA KANKO, runs business hotels, and obviously it is well over its head in this luxury glamping arena. It should stick to business hotels. And that “manager”, should go back to being a camp counselor.

The environment is very good, but the hotel's arrangement when handling guests' meals is very poor. Since one of the three of us could not eat cattle, after communicating with the hotel, he said that he would try his best to arrange it, but when he arrived at the scene, he found that the hotel directly cancelled the beef in everyone's menu. I hope the hotel can improve, inform or communicate in advance.

We stayed overnight on the way back from our trip from the Chita Peninsula. I could only see Mt. Fuji a little in the morning, but I enjoyed the hot springs in my room and the hot springs in the large communal bath. The teppanyaki dinner was delicious and I enjoyed talking with the chef. I would like to visit again if I have another chance. Thank you very much.

The rooms were clean and tidy. The room type I got had generous amount of space. The hotel was very quiet, the guest were mostly adults and older children. There was a fish ponds and complimentary food is provided to feed the fishes. The onsen was pleasant. The Japanese breakfast was well presented. The only negative was the Wifi, it doesn’t work.

Very interesting archetecture, great view of Mt. Fuji and a good price were why we choose this hotel. We arrived around 6 PM and were told we couldn't use the restaurant because we didn't have a reservation. We had to drive back to interstate about 15 minutes to find something, there is nothing at all in the hotel vicinity or even a little snack shop on site! Buses very limited. The front of the hotel was nicely painted and landscaped, but the back with patio was pretty shabby. But it did have seating outside for great fresh air. Parking was free but coming back after dinner the covered parking was all full and we had to park lower level in the rain. The room had a strange layout, a 3-mat room for a passageway (luggage drop?) and a small bedroom that one person could get out of bed on one side, but the other person had to crawl over the middle of the bed in the night to get out. In the closet were 2 hard hats?? In case Fujisan starts spewing ash? I think maybe this room was the staff's emergency room when forced to stay. The public bath was disappointingly small, so got crowded quickly. And the view? Of course it rained so no view of Mt. Fuji at all. Not in the hotel's control, but left us disenchanted... 4-star hotel. I don't think so.

Overall it is wide 々 and clean. The amenities were in the room with hairbrush, razor, toothbrush, hair band, cotton, cotton swab and hair rubber. There is no makeup drop, makeup water, etc. in the public bath. There was a sauna in the public bath, but at least two people (there is a corona cherry blossom, and now only one person?) It is a feeling that the person wins early! There were two types of open-air baths and the night view was beautiful. The water server in the dressing room, the good thing is that there is a towel in the bath, so you don't have to bring it out of the room ^^ As a welcome drink in the lobby, mineral water made of a There was an iss coffee.

I think this hotel is a adult themed hotel , me and my friend did not realise this when we booked . But the hotel is big and beautiful, big rooms and big beds for a hotel in Japan. Friendly staff when they are there , the hotel always seems empty. It’s near peace park (about 5mins) very good views on a clear day to get some great pics of Mt Fuji not a lot to do around the hotel .
- 318carlt
It seems to be a fashion hotel before, but the front desk, 24 hours room service, 24 hours breakfast are also good, the room is large, the bath is large and luxurious! This is enough!

The high consumption in Japan is well known. The price is pretty good. Room facilities can only be said to sleep for one night and a half night without any requirements. It is more than 100 domestic express hotels. For breakfast, we may collect it half an hour later, and there is little left! Navigation to find the hotel, but the mobile phone navigation was wrong. Thanks to the Japanese guy who took us there. The language is not good!

Hotel is simple but very clean. They have an open breakfast room but is open after 4 pm to allow you to drink including beer too + tea etc! So guest can also buy packaged meal from outside and there. Very impressive with the breakfast too.

Our room was a moderate twin room on 3/F (facing the podium car park which means no view). The room design was good - overall the room size was small (even in tokyo standard - not any bigger) bathroom was even smaller but still provides the essentials that you need. The hotel is more a business hotel which offers everything that you need (free yakult, ice bars, hot coffee, chocolate, ramen, comics corner, and more), hotspring and footbath. Everything you can name, just go and get them/ experience yourself. I appreciated the fact that the hotel has tried to put everything together in a compact space. There are 3 areas for free car parking, each of which is not big - the nearest car park 1 adjacent to the hotel is always full after 6pm. However, there is still no need to panic as another parking area 2 is just nearby (like 2 min walk). Breakfast was just okay - mostly Japanese with limited western choice. Last entry for breakfast is 9am which is very early, making the restaurant always packed during 8-9am. For the 3 nights spent there, our family of 3 had to sit on bar table for 2 days and queue outside to wait for a table (10 mins) on the last check-out day. The waiting was not a very pleasant experience afterall. During the Christmas holiday, the restaurant has also reached its max capacity and life would have been easier for staff and guests if they could extend the breakfast hours till later like other hotels at 10:30am. We will want to try other hotels in Gotemba next time.

Enjoyed the location and staying in this hotel. Being near the premium outlets was an unexpected treat on the afternoon we arrived! Rooms are clean and modern. Plenty of service food and attention making the stay more enjoyable. (free Ramen on the evening, free ice cream after the bath, free bike rental, free drinks)

Advantages: The price is not expensive. You can clearly see Mount Fuji in the room. The station is downstairs, you can also park for free, and there are many izakayas around. Staff service attitude is great. Cons: The hotel is a bit old.

There is a favorite Italian shop in Gotenba and we stay several times when we have dinner there. It is located in front of Gotenba station and the parking lot is also convenient for free. This time it was a campaign, and there was a free service for welcome drinks at the restaurant on the 1 floor. I don't know the taste because I don't eat it, but I seemed to be able to eat curry. It is an old-fashioned hotel in Gotenba, and the room feels quite old, but the location is good or the accommodation fee is not so cheap. I would like to use it again when I can stay at a good price with coupons.

This front desk is the one with the worst service and the least smiling face seen in Japan. Matsui Misato It improved a little when I checked out, but unexpectedly there is a small hot spring pool that is free. I go to the club at nine o'clock in the evening, and I will book the venue by myself! Good hygiene. It's new!

We went to the Gotemba Outlet before checking in. So we took a taxi from the outlet to the hotel about 1600yen. Mr Santosh checked us in and also provided many information about the hotel neighbourhood. I told him I will write about him in my review :) The hotel is in good location, close to Uniqo, Daiso, supermarket and many eateries. We even walk to the nearby JR gotemba easily. The room is big and we stayed on the 4th level which is on the same level as the viewing terrace. We can see Mt Fuji very clearly during the opening hours. The breakfast was ok, standard Japanese style. The onsen was a bit small but still adequate. Overall, a very new hotel and worth staying with them. Upon checked out, we walked to the nearby tomei-gotemba and took the direct bus back to Shinjuku.
- liliant
The bathroom was a little too small, but otherwise this is an excellent place to stay in Gotemba. It is on the east side, away from the hotels next to the train station. You will need to take a cab. The staff was very helpful and the ambiance was of traditional Japan with modern amenities. They have men and women's public baths and the women's bath requires a code. The big bathroom next to the men's bath proved quite useful.

There is no toilet or shower room in the room, which is inconvenient. I stayed on the 1/F and went to the bathhouse on the 2/F. To have breakfast, I had to go to the third floor. The steam room in the men's and women's bathhouse was also closed. The bathhouse was not big, and the breakfast was okay. There was no one at the front desk to ring the bell. The people at the front desk were also the people cooking in the kitchen where we had breakfast on 3/F and the waiters.

Short walk to Gotemba outlet. We booked private onsen through the help of a friend as booking could only be done in Japanese when calling in prior to our trip. Room is considerably small and we didn't managed to see Mt fuji as it had been raining the whole day. Lucky enough, we chanced upon 10 mins fireworks specially for the outlet staff that night. Dinner in the restaurant was reasonably priced. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and will visit again.

This time, when I went to stay, I felt very bad about the front staff who had short hair. We booked the wrong room So we asked what we should do next because we have both children and elderly people. He didn't try to help, couldn't speak English and communicated poorly. Plus secretly laughing like I'm a clown. We usually like to stay here. Even though the rooms look old, we feel close to the station. Next time we get married, we won't stay again. The breakfast room closes at 9:00 a.m. When we came down, there was no wait for us to eat, and they brought us food that looked like leftovers, as if there was a limited supply. He also acted displeased that we came at 8:00 a.m. On the last day, I met a younger person who was a good service person who looked after me to see what I wanted. There were only two old aunts who looked displeased every day when we went to eat breakfast. This time was the worst. There is a front staff who is a foreigner serving throughout the last year. We have always met them as lovely and always helping.

We stayed with a family of 4 people (one infant). I took a twin, but it was a pretty narrow impression in a room with almost only beds. The building and the room were outstanding, but the cleaning was well done. There are many restaurants around, and there are snacks and restaurants within walking distance, and there is a chain peculiar to Shizuoka (Numazu fish river bank sushi and refreshing) in a few minutes by car, and it was convenient to move by car. We were able to enjoy leisure such as outlets, safari parks and children's countries based here.

After loved and arpent many countries in Asia as in more than 100 countries of this vast world in sixty years, I've lived in this place the first step of my second trip to Japan too long delayed covid cause and too marked to The hotel is a very good place to stay in the city and the city is a good place to stay in the city. to live typically Japanese ... I had only one desire to dive there and, as Africans say, to make my eyes sleep. One morning later, I could appreciate my tasteful ”Japanese breakfast” Services and services, as an exceptional quality/price ratio in a country whose reputation is to be too expensive only make this stay a pleasure.

Advantages: The price is not expensive. You can clearly see Mount Fuji in the room. The station is downstairs, you can also park for free, and there are many izakayas around. Staff service attitude is great. Cons: The hotel is a bit old.

I didn't notice that this was a B&B when I made a reservation. It was a suite in the residential building. It was difficult to find without a prominent logo. Fortunately, I met a passionate Japanese who helped us find it. There is a KTV in the building, which is quite noisy at night.
