We came here for 3 nights before heading to Cascais for a further 3 nights last week. The Hotel is perfectly situated next to beautiful beaches, minutes from the old town, walks etc. We found the staff to be very helpful and friendly and overall the hotel is clean. Breakfast buffet is generous, if you can get a table on the outside veranda do as the view is fantastic. In the Evening the buffet /dinner appears to be very popular and good value at €22 approximately. You can also avail of a complimentary glass of wine . However , I feel it is worth pointing out some issues that could and should be addressed by the hotel to raise its standards and reputation that it deserves due to its location. 1-No glasses in the rooms . Why not? even for toothbrushes etc. 2-No hooks on the bathroom door for wet towels . 3-No towels by the poolside .This is standard in all hotels. 4-The beds / mattress's are very hardened uncomfortable ! 5-A daily charge of €2.50 for use of the safe. I have never come across this before. I travel extensively worldwide with my work, staying an average of between 30-50 hotels per year. This should be included, for the safekeeping of guests .Considering the room rates are not exactly bargains. Overall we enjoyed our stay at the HS Milfontes. I feel there are issues and shortcomings that could be very easily addressed by the owners/Management without breaking the bank in expenditure. Hopefully we will be back again in the near future with a sea view room ,albeit with a more comfortable bed !!

This was a great find - not only was it near the beach but also quiet and friendly. We had a gorgeous room with outside hot tub and patio chairs. The lounge was great and welcoming and we opted for (the BEST value) half board so ate dinner there - wonderful buffet everything from sushi to steak and upon arrival huge gin and tonic !!

This was our first time staying at this hotel though we are very familiar with the area having been frequent visitors with our family over the past 14 years or so. The hotel was recommended to us so we decided to take a chance and book - we needn't have been worried. From the moment we checked in we found the staff to be extremely friendly and helpful.Our room was a nice comfortable size with an amazing sea view and was extremely comfortable. Breakfast is very varied though it was busy no matter what time we decided to attend yet this was not an issue. The area is very much in the quieter part of Praia da Rocha which is great and because we were there in October we had no problems getting seated at various restaurants - though in high season that would be adifferent story. All in all this was a great relaxing trip and this hotel was wonderful -we will definitely return next year!FromHK$906

I'll start with the positive. The hotel grounds are beautiful. It has a lot of potential. The drinks have a good selection and the pool staff are always around providing drinks.. We booked the hotel for a babymoon a last min trip for 6 nights. We arrived on Monday was allowed to use the facilities from the moment we arrived including food and drinks. We got to our room after three and whilst it appeared lovely on initial view it wasn't. We had blood on the floor from where someone had cut their foot on a door stopper blood on the under bedsheets. Ants in our room and the sink hadn't been cleaned. We called down and it took someone 2 hours to come and sort this out.. The buffet food is the worst I have ever experienced. Is say this is an upgraded child's menu nothing fancier then that. Mostly cold and the cereal was stale. Thankfully you can book into the Italian resturant and steak House which is what we did for every evening that was slightly better just more options would have been preferable.. however this is more edible then the buffet. They have a snack back for lunch time in addition to the buffet. 3 times the ice cream self service was broken and the ice cream was slushy. The bbq area was however nice. Food again needed improvement but I have learnt this is not really their thing. The pool... don't I booked this hotel mainly as it said heated pool.....no no it's not. Its not heated at all. The manager said that there was a broken component.... Well that's been broken for the entire time we were here. It was such a shame.alas you could get in the pool which was cold but once your in your in..don't expect that to be clean either. We haven't seen one person clean the pool or attempt to clean it.. I could deal with little stones and leaves and the flying bugs. But the woodlice looking things were my limit. I wouldn't even contemplate staying here again its a straight up no. It has SOOOOOOO MUCH POTENTIAL but the staff are overwhelmed and there is an obvious reluctance to put money into this to get it to a 5 star standard they are looking for. The Oceano Atlantico hotel is conveniently located in the rather picturesque Praia da Rocha area of Algarve. It is within walking distance of the beach (it takes approximately 15-20 minutes at a leisurely pace to get there) and there is also a Lidl store nearby. There are a number of football pitches and pools in the vicinity of the hotel, so it is likely to meet the expectations of people who are sports buffs. There were no problems pertaining to the check-in and the staff members were polite and attentive, with everyone being conversant in English. The rooms, which are akin to mini apartments, are rather spacious and all the necessary amenities are to be found, including towels, shampoo, soap, etc. There was a very wide selection of TV channels and the Wi-Fi was fast and reliable. I enjoyed the quality of the food (the variety was good as well, but there weren’t that many confectionery desserts) and appreciated that the dinner was buffet-style, which tends to be my preference. A few of the meals appeared to be distinctly Portuguese. This hotel (while not necessarily as luxurious as some of the ones in Lisbon) is likely to appeal to many different travelers. I would not return to this hotel in the future. Despite its great location across from the beach, it was not worth the cost. Our family had two rooms(one on 1st floor and the other in the 2nd)! With partial ocean view. My biggest issue is with the front desk staff lack of care to resolved an issue with our room. Our room had an annoying muffled ”doorbell buzz” sound going off every 20seconds or so. It was constant and non-stop. Notified front desk and a technician was sent up. He basically said it was the A/C and it could not be fixed. I explained that would make it very difficult to sleep and we never had that issue at hotel hotels with the same individual unit. In his broken English we said nothing could be done. Went downstairs to front desk and explained the situation but was told hotel is sold out. After further discussion they offered a different room with no view. At this point we were already late for dinner and could not move all our stuff. No apology, no discount, no concern. On a positive note ...the noise from outside seem to drown the repetitive buzzing. There is a lot of noise from the late night partying, you'd have to stay in the top to floors to have any chance of escaping the music, yelling and car noise. Rooms are somewhat dated modern decor. The fact that not check in/out is very uncomfortable. It is not hotel, don't call hotel, it's rooms in a building. I want to know if the costs caused by this voices return. Arrived Friday midday, pleasant and helpful reception staff, easy check in and hotel looked recently renovated with well presented and modern lobby. We unpacked into a large two bed apartment, three flatscreens and sofa, large fridge freezer and all accessories required for comfortable self catering. We spent a nice afternoon at a quiet pool among other families and couples (pool is freezing cold). This is where the good news ended. Around 5pm two coach loads of students descended onto the hotel with shopping carts (actual shopping carts) loaded with speakers and party signs. Our stomachs sank as did our 7yr olds, intimidated by rowdy youths in the elevator. I enquired at the front desk as to the situation and was met with the news that the party had booked almost the entire hotel out of rooms. The Flor Da Rocha sells the rooms as part of a student party package at various times throughout the year, see screen grab. The sequence of events is as follows; two coaches arrive mid afternoon, the lobby and swimming pool both flood with loud students and then the speakers appear on the balcony’s facing the pool area blasting music. Short lull when they dissipate to the supermarket for alcohol then from 9pm (when the families are settling the children) the noise begins again with shouting / singing / Macarena etc etc. people hanging over balcony’s with guitars, clapping and jeering. No intervention from hotel staff whatsoever. It comes as no surprise the in room telephone also doesn’t work when trying to contact reception. The fact Jet2 are marketing this hotel as a family friendly holiday is ridiculous. No sleep for a family of four for the first two nights of a seven night holiday. We selected Praia Da Rocha as a family friendly alternative to the usual stag and hen locations, what possesses the place to host a two day student bender is beyond me. Unfortunately, this is the second time Jet2 have let us down and we should’ve known better than to travel with them again. The rest of the week was fine although the students continue to come and go, fortunately for us the rest seemed to be athletes / youth groups rather than organised party goers. Given time and money has been spent to update the hotel it’s a real shame they choose to recoup this at the detriment to family and couple guests in an otherwise quiet resort.FromHK$450

Vitors plaza… what can i say we, had the most amazing time at this hotel and surrounding areas like alvor village, praia da rocha! Slip and slide the boat excursion! All booked via the hotel with lots of helpful staff on hand! The bus was absolutely brilliant and always on time! The food was lovely the staff were so helpful no matter what you asked they were so polite and welcoming. The rooms are spotless! Cleaners came in everyday! The hotel itself is spotless! The pool was so much fun indoors and outdoors. We had the most amazing time and already looking to book to come back next year! Thank you for being amazing and welcoming! We miss it already! First off, the accommodation, pool and the proximity to the beach are all great. The rooms are really big. We had a two bed apartment for two adults and two teenagers, there was plenty of space for us all. The balcony’s are huge, and also come with four loungers and six chairs, so perfect for catching the evening sun with a drink. We did have a leak in the bathroom which we raised with reception, which was not fixed. It didn’t cause too much problem, just annoying to get wet feet when walking by as it leaked into the bedroom. The biggest shame was the service and quality of food at breakfast. It was provided by “My Guest” so we assume it was outsourced. The young woman Rosa out the front was really unfriendly, didn’t want to engage and made us feel unwelcome. The food in the hot buffet was lukewarm at best, so not great for food hygiene. The only things that changed in the six days we were there was the fresh fruit and the cake, so it got a bit repetitive as well. Despite this we would still return, we would just do it as self catering as the breakfast definitely wasn’t worth it.FromHK$1,191

Beautiful property right on Praia da Rocha. Excellent service at check-in, was given a quick tour of the lobby and room by a wonderful gentleman. Beautiful and tidy room, stunning view from balcony, though the small bathroom window opens into the corridor and at times there is an unpleasant odour from a pipe in the toilet. A truly great experience!! Room was comfortable and housekeeping excellent. Well placed with a view of the Marina. The highlight of each morning of my 5 night stay was the Breakfast. Fantastic choice and everything well cooked and presented. The staff, particularly the trainees, were always friendly and obliging. I couldn't fault anything about the Breakfast at all. The situation of the Hotel was ideal for me but might not suit everyone as it was sited out of the Town. A beautiful beach was adjacent to the Hotel and even out of season there were a variety of Restaurants nearby. All staff, the Receptionists, Restaurant staff and Housekeeping were outstanding, always greeted me with a smile and very helpful.FromHK$990

We rented a 2 bedroom condo which was extremely comfortable. They gave us a unit on the main floor with a front yard which included a couple of lemon trees. They cleaned our condo daily although that we were told that they would do it every five days. They also provided clean bed sheets and towels. We will definitely come back when we are back in Portugal.FromHK$606
