The room was nice and the sea was beautiful! The pool was a little dirty, but the Thai waiter was really... charming. Everything else was good, and the food was delicious.FromUS$351

Sai Kaew Beach Koh Samet|2.05km from city center
Eighteen years ago, I visited Koh Samet and stayed in a Saikaew bungalow, which left me with wonderful memories. So, on my return trip this year, I chose Saikaew again, but this time I stayed in a pool room near the swimming pool.
The ground-floor pool rooms are quite spacious. The bathroom even has a separate small vanity, and the wardrobe is built into the dividing wall between the bedroom and the bathroom. Each room also has a large sofa by the window, which can be used as an extra bed if needed.
The only downside was that the lighting in the bedroom was too dim.
The hotel staff were all very friendly, and the pizza in the bungalow area was delicious. That part of the beach is rocky, so you can see many small fish when you go down to the water. There's also a heart-shaped tree by the beach 😊 The sand on White Sand Beach is very fine, and the fire show on weekend evenings is excellent!FromUS$108

This is our second time staying at this hotel for Chinese New Year. This time, our room was on the right hillside, and it felt more spacious and newer than the bungalows on the left. The hotel service was still excellent. We booked a half-day private boat trip (wooden boat) through the hotel, and it was fantastic! The boat was new, and the included meal was delicious. We also booked a private fishing trip through the hotel, which was also a great experience. Catching fish was fun, but my child got seasick quite easily. The hotel dinner, however, felt a bit limited in variety, and the menu didn't change much, while the prices were quite high.FromUS$140

Second line from the beach, communal pool and dining areas are stuffed with people, light in some rooms is not good, they open onto internal passageways so people walking by regularly doesn’t make it very peaceful. Good to use as a beach base and exploring other places nearby.FromUS$53

If you're coming to Koh Samet, this is the place to stay! Right outside the hotel is a great snorkeling spot. If you have fins and swim a bit further out, you'll see even more fish. Even if you don't snorkel, just tossing bread crumbs by the shore attracts a whole bunch of little fish, so it's fun for all ages. Plus, the fact that it's not crowded is a huge bonus.FromUS$173

The taxi from the pier cost 250 baht. The beach right in front of the hotel is fantastic, and the male attendant who manages the towels was really good – he's the reason I gave the last 100 baht as a tip. His enthusiasm also led us to book a night squid fishing trip for 9 people.
However, all the staff here seem to have two different attitudes: one for Western guests and another for Chinese guests. While everyone else managed basic politeness, the female server in the restaurant (pictured in photo 2) was incredibly rude to us. This is my fifth time vacationing in Thailand, and I've also traveled to the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Mauritius, the Maldives, and Hamilton Island, but this is honestly the first time I've encountered a staff member so rude. She pointed her finger at me and loudly demanded that I push the water bottle from the middle of the table to against the wall. I was completely stunned.
Upon check-in, they asked for 500 baht per night for an extra bed for our 6-year-old. Since the three of us could comfortably share the king-sized bed, we declined and only paid for the child's breakfast, which was 200 baht per day.
One evening, we also encountered teenagers on the beach who were indiscriminately bullying kids playing there. I never even saw something like this in Australia, yet it happened on Koh Samet. Thankfully, my English speaking skills are decent, and after a big argument, he ended up yelling that he was going to call the police.
Overall, I still wouldn't recommend booking a hotel here. The pricing attracts a certain type of clientele, and since there are many very cheap hotels nearby, the beach attracts all sorts of tourists.FromUS$57

The hotel is lovely, and the traditional wooden bungalow is perfect for a solo traveler, what was not great is the constant music till 10 at night, if you are looking for peace and quiet this is not the place to stay. Starting at 5 you have the saxophone player, followed by a one man band, then the fire show, and then the one man’s band again till 10- to 10.30. It repeats the same format every night, so you have to make sure you are away from it. The way the resort is set out, it’s hard to escape the constant noise. 5 days of this and I need another vacation just from the lack of sleep. If you like the constant party vibe then you will love it. I would think they just save their money, do one massive fire show on the weekend, and have chill during the early week days.FromUS$49

The hotel's location is pretty good, facing the beach and the sea, which is really comfortable, and the environment is lovely. Dinner was also nice, and there was even a firework show! The only issue is the hotel's location itself – cars can't get all the way to the hotel, so you have to walk with your luggage. If you have a lot of bags, it can be quite tiring. There were also too many mosquitoes, so definitely be prepared with repellent.FromUS$55

The room was spotless and beautifully decorated. The location was convenient, and the breakfast was outstanding. Upon check-in, we encountered an issue with the door lock, but the hotel promptly arranged a room change. The front desk staff handled the situation with great efficiency and professionalism. Despite paying a considerable amount, I was assigned a windowless room. My attempts via Ctrip to resolve this with the hotel were unsuccessful, partly because Ctrip's own room descriptions were unclear. Ctrip did, however, refund me 140 for the price difference. The shower pressure was extremely low, and the bathroom mirror was badly cracked, almost to the point of shattering. When I reported the issues, a staff member just took a brief look and walked away without offering any solution. On the positive side, the hotel is close to the sea and quiet, offering opportunities for free snorkeling. Having breakfast with a stunning sea view was also very enjoyable.FromUS$63

Overall, I'm very satisfied! After arriving by bus, we walked about 600m to the pier reception, then took a slow boat to the hotel's pier. Baan is the closest of the four hotels to the pier (as shown in the last picture), which was a huge relief! It's just a 1-minute walk, saving us the hassle of getting a tuk-tuk.
The hotel isn't luxurious, but it's quiet and elegant. I especially loved the tree by the beach. Being close to Christmas, the evenings here left a wonderful impression on me!
The room was quite spacious, with an IKEA-esque style. There's an outdoor balcony, perfect for reading in the morning. Outside the room, there's a chocolate drink shop where you can grab a drink to enjoy on the beach. To the north, it's less crowded and beautifully scenic – I really love it here!
Breakfast was also quite extensive, with several dishes you could select individually. The staff's attitude was much better than in many places in Bangkok. I'm especially grateful that on my first day, I forgot my DJI drone, and the front desk staff kept it safe for me until I returned. Thank you!
Oh, and there's a small restaurant run by an old man to the north that's absolutely delicious! Try the Tom Yum Goong and Mama noodles! My husband and I, along with the Swedish couple at the next table, completely cleaned our plates. Highly recommend: ร้านเจ้กิวลุงเตี้ยFromUS$96

I liked the hotel very much! The location is very convenient! Next to the main road, where there are many cafes, 7/11 and at the same time the hotel itself is quiet, only the birds are singing. It's a 7-minute walk to the beach, and to the pier as well. Everything is close, the island is small. The room is clean, the bed linen is snow-white. Water and toilet paper were changed every day, the cleaning of the rooms is excellent! We took a room for four, the room has 2 giant beds. You can fit four on one)) the room has everything you need, a hair dryer, a safe, a kettle, shampoo and shower gel, sets of towels for everyone. A cute, cozy terrace. Quadruple rooms have a separate terrace for the room, three and double rooms have a shared terrace for 2 rooms. Next to the entrance to the terrace there is a foot shower so you don't drag sand into the room. Very convenient. Very pleasant impressions of the stay. Now on Samet we will stay only with you ❤FromUS$33

The Hotel is very clean but the rooms are a little bit old kind of. The bathroom needs improvements or a renovation. The is big, coffee, kattle, hairdryer, towels and shampoo and shower gel is provided. Unfortunately the room is really dark, there is a window or glass door to get in, but if your room is at ground floor level, then there is not much sunlight.
Location is super! Right in the middle of the city centre and very close to the Beach. The cleaning staff is really friendly, reception stuff is quite slow and not so welcoming.
Overall it's a nice location to stay for a few daysFromUS$34
