Flamengo
Rio de Janeiro
|1.49km from city centerWe were given the worst room in the hotel to start with. No window, small double bed… after we complained they moved us to a slightly better room but on the first floor with a window overlooking a car park... There were various issues throughout our stay, such as, the inconvenience of moving rooms, carrying our heavy luggage around. Also, we asked to add one extra day (a 5th day) to our booking. But on the 4th day the key card stopped working because it had not processed through their system that our stay had been extended so we could not get enter our room. So that was another trip downstairs to join the reception queue to try sort it… The breakfast was good, there was a selection of 4 natural fruit juices and the food never ran out and was always fresh. The swimming pool was small and they had a 1 hour slot booking system if you wanted to use it. The pool was crowded; there were people drinking beer in the pool and the water was a bit dirty and too warm. There weren’t enough sun loungers for everyone despite the booking system. They give you beach towels but make sure you know you will be charged if the towel is not returned to them. Checking out was a problem too. Our Uber was almost there to collect us and the hotel staff said they needed to check our room before we could leave, to see if we had consumed anything from the fridge in the room. I paid for the outstanding charges and I told them we hadn’t consumed anything and any issues please call, and I left. She gave me a look as I was leaving as if I was doing something wrong. Finally, I am still waiting for the reimbursement of the deposit I had to pay (500 reais) at check in - it’s now been 3 weeks. While we were there, I heard a couple at reception complaining about their car - the car park at the hotel was apparently full and the owner did not want his car to be parked elsewhere. Oh and lastly: I would say good evening to staff at the front door every time I walked past and NOT ONCE was I greeted in return.

|2.79km from city centerActually Ibis Budget RJ Praia de Botafogo was closed due to covid19 and I was accommodated in Novotel RJ Praia de Botafogo just next door at no extra cost. Great stay from the start to the end. I even extended my stay. Next time I am in Rio I would book this hotel. Plus the area is very nice with lots of shops, bars, restaurants and easy access to Rio's points of interest.

|5.73km from city centerThe location is super good, right next to the Marriott Hotel. The door is Copacabana beach. The breakfast is very good, rich, and the wifi signal is good. Especially amazing is the swimming pool on the 15th floor, invincible sea views, can shoot very beautiful night views, hotel facilities in general, rooms are a bit small, we set There are three beds in the double room, and the child may have urinated on the bed. The smell of diarrhea is very big. He changed rooms, and the hygiene is normal. The new check-in is because the hair in the bathroom has not been cleaned. Late, but only on the first day there is a bottle of free bottled water, breakfast meals can not be packed in advance, there is a small supermarket behind the hotel, overall recommended stay, you can score four points

Santa Teresa

|1.24km from city centerHotel located in the central region of Rio. From the Selaron Street. For anyone needs, from the to walk to the American consulate. Receptionist William is very educated and gentle, congratulations! The room was clean and smellful. The beds were good, the shower was excellent, and even a hair dryer, and a simple breakfast was made, but it was the best to meet our needs. I just leave as a comment for improvement: the room TV was broken (as our stay was small and we don't care we don't talk to the hotel about it, but I think it was important since it was one of the items offered in the daily). And another point is that, despite the cleaning, I had cheap bathroom furniture, perhaps because it was a little old, and it was generally worth the cost-benefit.

|19.4km from city centerIve stayed in the basic room but I didn't expect it to be so small. The bed was big, but the room smelled of cigarettes. The Cable TV didn't work, always said the signal was bad. The bathroom is small and I found used bath soap laying around. I complained and they promised to clean the room, only to find out that the cleaning service is working once a week during the pandemic. The breakfast was really basic (which I understand as we are in a coronavirus pandemic and things are simpler) but the coffee was just ok (drinkable). The service knocked on my door twice one night trying to deliver somebody else's meal. Overall if I had personally payed for the room I wouldn't stay. However, I didn't have an option because it was a critical business trip and it was the nearest hotel next to the client.

Glória
Rio de Janeiro
|1.52km from city centerThe hotel is simple, but staff are very educated and available. I went with my husband and the two children. The breakfast is a medium variety, has a small leisure space, is very well located, because it is very close to the bus terminal of the Glória neighborhood, the airport, easy access to bus and metro, and it is possible to go to the beach of the It has supermarket options and other trades close to those who do not want to spend much. The single beds my children stayed were a little noisy and we stayed in a room without views to the street, the window was to the bottom of the hotel, the Wi-Fi works little, we don't like these details much. But in general, I recommend, because we wanted a hotel to take a bath and sleep.

|19.46km from city centerDoes not meet my needs as someone from a western country - uk for the price of £100 a night. It would be ok if room cost £50 a night. Its better to spend £10 to £20 more for premium hotel. Good points 1.Concierge was excellent at checking in, talking to us, advice and seemed genuine. 2. English speaking 3. Breakfast selection 4. Customer service was good 5. Room was comfortable enough 6. Big tv 7. Nice pool 8. Comfortable bed Bad points 1. Room looked tired and not maintained eg paint work, shower finishing etc 2. Patio door to beach was simple construction and poorly made so didnt close tight hence very very noisy anf can hear road and sea 3. Certain parts of room arent cleaned throughout eg sides have dust 4. Gym very basic

We are also very pleased with the easy travel offered.
The only sad part we've passed was that our stay ended ... was so good that for us a week was super fast!
We only have to thank all the professionals who have taken care of us and helped us during our stay there; we will certainly return soon!

Salt room, with traces of moisture on the walls, at the ceiling, in the shower ... When we lifted the bed cover, we had the surprise to notice that the top cover was only on half of the mattress and not big enough to cover all ... Cool swimming pool, not clean transat, sauna was out of service but no information and given the dirt of the surrounding common spaces anyway we had abandoned the idea to go there ... |5.79km from city centerMy four-night stay here while visiting RJ couldn’t have been better and more suited for my basic needs as a solo traveler. I knew coming in that I wouldn't be receiving luxury, spaciousness, or any big perks common at higher-end chains—I booked for the unbeatable $29 price and wonderful location, and nothing more. So if you’re expecting anything extra, this isn’t the property for you. But I really enjoyed my stay!! The staff, especially a super nice woman at check-in whose name I dreadfully forget, made my visit special. Everyone was willing and excited to help with anything I needed, including supplying me copious bottles of water to last me the week. When I needed a wheelchair-accessible taxi to pick up my wheelchair when it lost battery, the aforementioned woman was so kind and helpful for calling local companies and their drivers to find someone on a moment’s notice. Thank you! The rooms were definitely small and basic, but they were clean and in far better shape than most Ibis properties I would end up staying at while in Europe in June 2022. My electric wheelchair just barely fit through the door and into the space. Knowing that all I really needed at a hotel on my RJ trip was just a bed to lay my head on, the Ibis Budget provided me that, put simply. I also requested a room facing the interior apartment block area (i.e. away from the street), and noise levels were perfect for my sensitive ears. Traffic in RJ isn’t too noisy anyway, but I recommend these rooms for anyone in any case. Stays like these are what make me grateful to be a loyal newcomer to Accor and their rewards program. I very much enjoyed my stay, and for your wallet’s sake, I recommend booking here. And the location…mere blocks from Copacabana! Thank you!

Lapa
Rio de Janeiro
|0.87km from city centerWe live near Rio, if we are going out for a night in Rio or taking Friends out this is where we stay! We book two rooms, One for us one for the nanny and children ! Spend the day by the beautiful pool, then walk the 5 minutes to the centre of Lapa in the evening! Its a fairly ”adult” hotel, but its suits us because of the location and the babies love the pool ! I would recommend staying here one or two nights to experience the nightlife, Spanish steps and the local vibe ! Breakfast is good but the ”oasis” factor is the big deal ! Downsides, checkin can be slow, but they promise me they are working on that, and for the price which is an absolute bargain most of the time makes this a no brainer ! The rooms by the pool are perfect and worth the little extra, the staff are great! I stay here once a month and cant recommend it highly enough ! Of course you get what you pay for, there is no parking, and it can get busy, but as someone who stays in hotels a lot, I recommend this as literally an oasis in the centre of the party district ! And its great value for money !

Great location - around are restaurants, fast food (McDonald's, BK, Domino's, etc), shops, Super marts, Money changer and the Copacabana beach is a short walk away (5mins). Breakfast is really good with a wide selection. Staff were responsive, helpful and polite. Check in was easy and quick. The room I had did not have a view but no biggie. Mini fridge, TV, safe. Room is small but manageable. Hotel entrance is just at the main road, easy for Uber/taxi pick up and loading of luggage. Security is good - there's always someone present at the main door. Will definitely stay again if I return to Rio.

Ipanema
Rio de Janeiro
|7.44km from city centerWe got an ocean view room with a hammock hanging by the big window to enjoy the beach view, watch the surfers and even the birds ….and many more. Compared to other hotels in the neighbourhood and in copacabana, Hotel Arpoador has real direct access to the beach (Ipanema)…just go through the restaurant and exit at the patio to the beach directly. All beaches in Brazil belongs to the public so in order to serve hotel guests better, this hotel has staff at the beach just outside their building, organising lounge chairs and sun umbrellas, only for hotel guests. First you go to the hotel reception to get towels and tickets for the lounge chairs etc. Once you show up on the beach with the tickets, the staff would quickly arrange everything for you. If you want to stay after their work hours (till 5pm), it is still ok, you just bring back the chairs and umbrellas to the patio. There’s always guard at the patio entrance. The breakfast included are wonderful (also have vegan options)….just wake up to the sound of the waves and enjoy your breakfast watching the morning mist among the mountains. If you do get up early, walk/run towards copacabana to watch the sunrise or do your morning yogas there (also a bunch of yoggies in the evening in the park area near the beach at the bottom of the fortress hill, around 6pm i think), or simply go up to the hotel roof top at 8:30am for free yoga classes. Free bike rental for two hours too. (Nice and easy bike lanes along the beaches) You can also go to the lagoon nearby, just go inland from the beach. Then enjoy a sip on the rooftop bar to watch the sunset. We had dinner also in the same restaurant (the only one) and it was ok (convenient on the first night after 5 hours drive from Paraty). Tried the other restaurants along the beach the next night (5 minutes walk, near Hotel Fasano), much nicer there. Staff are friendly and polite and answers a lot of our travel questions. We had a happy stay here.

I presuaded it a lot! I think, it‘s a good place to base yourself in Rio. It‘s close to the beach and I never felt unsafe to walk around this area alone as a woman. There‘s enough space in kitchen area to meet new people. The rooms are a little narrow, but it‘s okay. Found everytime a free showe or bathroom and it‘s clean. The kitchen is not super equipped, but you have fridges and it‘s enough. Thank you, Solar Hostel😊

|7.52km from city centerI opted for a bed in the 10-bed female dorm at Carneval. Cost me $90 with an official airport taxi but for this uninitiated female solo traveller I just wanted to take the easiest route for arriving late on a Saturday night. Very much a young backpackers place, you will party and you will drink here if you don't go to the 'English' bar across the road which is where I did go and had a grand time chatting to the bar staff who were a bit older than my fellow bedmates (who were all lovely, by the way). It's as clean as it can be for a quick turnaround place, free drinks between 7-8pm and the staff were just lovely. Helpful and friendly. Short walk from the beach. I felt safe wandering at night here and the Metro is a block or so away. Only tiny grumble is that the photos on tripadvisor are not of the Ipanema site; it's a lot, lot smaller!

|15.03km from city centerI hosted the blinds, seeing only a few photos from the official website since there were few last-hour options available for this weekend. The boy (Gabriel or Daniel) a little more sought, finished my check in. The room was sad, between the air conditioning and the wall had a hole that lets the wind and the whole noise of the street enter. I asked you to change my room, because my sleep is light, they said I was exhausted, even if I saw online availability, and I said that as a consumer I could ask for a refund, they said they would call me back, it never happened. I called again, this time, very angry, and a room was wonderfully free. The boy Gabriel went to my room, with good willingness to help me, took me to the other room that was really quiet (there was no balcony but at least no noise). I was tired and I didn't want to be a boring man who complains about everything, but the photos say on themselves. Shaped towels, furnished shirts, all damaged in the micro-room, breakfast with old taste, guest struggle at the reception that gave up to police and break, finally ... in a day that is not so cheap, for me was the worst experience of I have been home in a luxury and economic location, and I know when the hotel is simple but honest, let me go away from the garden, and, to worse, I found a cheap room on the second day. The ladder's lady shouting high early morning, waking up ... Even so, all in this hotel is horrible. The location, far from everything, has no coffee shop nearby.
