|7.47km from city centerAl llegar al hotel el día 22 de septiembre muy bueno el recibimiento de la carpetera desde que entramos al hotel, una señora muy agradable y atenta, se solicitó la habitación sin desayuno, por suerte la modalidad en el hotel no existía con desayuno y sin embargo se oferta en las oficinas de venta. Al subir a la habitación nos dimos cuenta de que la ducha estaba rota y no había agua caliente. Nos cambiaron por cuatro habitaciones en la cual una de ella no había fuerza de agua y se mantenía sin agua caliente. El hotel tiene un estilo colonial muy bello pero se necesita una remodelación. Las habitaciones tienen olor a humedad bien fuerte. Los dos días q estuvimos en el hotel no hubo una respuesta sobre el estado del agua caliente en la habitación. Además según las normas del hotel las habitaciones se deben de limpiar, pues en esos dos días por ahí nadie hizo la limpieza.En la bañadera el desagüe estaba tupido. Recomiendo que la administración del hotel debería de revisar antes de ofertar un servicio a los turistas y visitantes. Por lo demás todo muy bien en sentido general de los trabajadores del hotel.

|1.43km from city centerIt was my partners and myself first time down south and I am so glad we picked Cuba and this resort! They did not disappoint. We got in late into the evening and while checking in they upgraded us to the bungalows. Our room was nice and clean and house keeping kept up on everything. The food was pretty good, I am super fussy but I had meals everyday, and the ice cream was very yummy. Now let me tell you about the beach, it was something words can not describe, the white sand and clear clean water made each day so enjoyable. Last but not least the people of Cuba, this is what truely made the trip. I’ve never in my life met such grateful and happy people. There kindness does not go unnoticed and they all could teach us a lesson to be grateful for what we have and to be happy. A few people stood out to me at this resort, there was a girl who works where you get towels for the pool, Dailyn was her name, she was amazing and made you feel right at home, Jania who works at guest services who I became friends with. She is a lovely person, Roberto who worked in at the buffet who I miss terribly and wanted to take him back to Canada with me. He touched my heart, Gooseman who worked on the beach sailing the catamaran was another amazing local who you must meet, he took us snorkeling and showed us the beautiful ocean and last but not least we had a private tour of Havanna (which was cheaper then the sunwing excursion) with a man named Toni, this man took a little piece of my heart and is now friends with my partner and I. Toni showed us the real Cuba and educated us on a lot. He deserves nothing but great things in his life for him and his family. When I think of Cuba he will always come to mind because his kindess and hospitality was out of this world. There was lots of other great people we did meet, these people just stood out. The beauty they hold within them made for a wonderful trip. If you decide to visit Cuba this resort will not dissapoint and the locals you will meet will become life long friends❤️❤️

|2.31km from city centerMay 17th - 31st This was my 8th time staying here I believe and it certainly did not disappoint. The WIFI internet was decent and available all around the resort! The food was good and acceptable. Ice cream and desserts were the best. The hamburgers were a pleasant surprise with their local condiments! The late night sports bar and grill was the place to be. Air conditioned room with sports tv, pool tables, drinks, and a grill. As long as one visits Varadero to have fun, nobody will be disappointed. It's a utopia, that's all there is to it! Please upgrade and renovate the bathrooms! Tips: - Bring your own toilet paper, candy, sauces, condiments, foaming hand soap, bathtub and shower cleanser, scrub pads, soap bars, razors, shaving foam, - Take a visit to the International bank downtown Varadero to exchange CDN or US dollars into Pesos. Easier to spend with tipping and local restaurants with Pesos. Both have both currencies just in case. - Repeat guests: ask for an extension in your room past check-out time if you need. It should be free if you are a repeat guest.

|10.86km from city centerIt was a different experience, I always travel with my family but this time I decided to go to rest and be alone with my partner, which was a bit difficult for me due to different episodes I had at the hotel. As for the service of the waitresses and shop assistants, it is very good, they really make an effort to talk to the clients and make them feel like family, the cleaning is quite good, but I must say that in terms of the food it leaves a lot to be desired, most of the Cold times, without dressings to season salads or vegetables, hot juices and without sugar, there was not a day when there was butter, mayonnaise, or any other sauce to accompany food or breakfast. There is no small oven to heat a toast or a piece of bread, the lousy presentation, if I am honest there was not a day that we ate well and that is mainly due to the little management by the managers, the rather superficial supervision and the justification with all the problems that there are right now in Cuba. Serving a hot dish or a cold juice goes beyond the scarcity that there may be.
The towel service for the pool practically does not work, we were waiting all day to be able to get the towels and be able to bathe, when we complained the towels appeared immediately,
Unfortunately they tend to justify what was wrong with all the economic problems that exist and that we all know. You pay for a 4-star hotel and receive 2-star service to a great extent.

First, the good stuff: the area is gorgeous. Special thanks to Eliezer and Senin. Very competent managers, they speak Russian well, they help with “unsolvable” issues, and in general I have very warm impressions from them. Delicious ice cream and cocktails, depending on the season they serve fish and seafood. February turned out to be off season. There was fish, but not super often. Grill zone - very good meat. And beef and pork and chicken. Pineapples and papaya. Of course the ocean!!!! The biggest plus. That's why we flew for 14 hours. We walked the entire shore - our part of the beach turned out to be the best in our opinion. Wide shore, sun loungers do not stack on top of each other. Quiet.
Now about the negative))) First we checked into a bungalow (southern part of the hotel). Dark, humid, bad air conditioning, poor cleaning. Considering that they left chocolates and money, not very good. The bathroom floors were not washed at all. One day they took away a towel and didn’t bring any... any... at all. Neither for arms, nor for legs. They asked us to move to the main building closer to the ocean. There the situation has completely changed. There were elephants on the bed, and boats were flying. 9!!! Towels for two. Although there were 4 in the bungalow (as it turned out, we were given a foot towel as the main towel in the bungalow). Clean, bright, good air conditioning and views of the pool and ocean.
Now the tips:
- if you are not given something, demand and ask. Most likely they will forget, you need to remind them.
- take a towel with you (at least a small one). Because we were given a towel for 2 days at the beach.
- You can take your own mug, but disposable glasses were thrown away in front of us.
- take plenty of sunscreen. They burned out in the first days.
- the most season is from June to November. December - March winds can be strong. Ideal month - October
- leave a tip. Locals will be happy with chocolates and primitive medicines (no-shpa, paracetamol, spazgan), but it’s not difficult for us
In general, except for the moment of relocation and problems with the towel, everything was excellent. 👍

Pool area is amazing. A great place to meet people and spend an hot sunny afternoon floating around. Pool bar staff are fast and efficient and run off their feet with thirsty guest. Yes pool is shallow but still fantastic. The beach is main reason we come but due to high winds became pool people this trip. Food, For Cuba it was ok. Some dishes really good, others luke warm and little flavour. However with limited supplies they did a good job. None of us went hungry and could always find something. Snack bar you could always get a burger or a plain chicken sandwich. We also enjoyed the location of the beach bar restaurant. Lunch was a smaller buffet . We had a massage and would definitely do again . The guest was a mixture of age groups. Some very loud and obnoxious. Lots of different areas to sit and enjoying evening cocktails, play cards or sit and chat. Bring seasoning, ketchup or what ever, your own towels , drinking cups, snacks and your set. Thank you to all the hard working Sol staff for a great vacation. I wish I did not have to leave tomorrow. .

The pool is gorgeous, there are lovely little bars everywhere all over the property too with delicious drinks. I upgraded to a premium suite and omg would highly recommend. Everything is touch activated and it’s basically a smart room. The beach is gorgeous with turquoise waters. The only thing I can say negative was that I didn’t love the buffet food but all of the ala carts are included each night I just never had time to sit down and enjoy one of them. I heard all the restaurants are amazing though - so aim for those. Otherwise - this property is worth every penny 💕

|2.68km from city centerGreat hotel! Booked a sea view room, room 4309, the beach faces the golf course. The room was ok, nothing special, but very comfortable, clean, with balcony terrace. My stay was in early November 2021, when the country of Cuba was just starting to reopen for tourism. There are not many tourists, but there are already many tourists, especially from Russia and Canada. Check-in was fairly quick, check-out was quick too, not being asked to wait.
I really like the beach in the hotel yard, the beach is clean, well maintained and the sand is beautiful. The facilities for sunbathing are also good. Also, I love the swimming pool, it's not huge but in good condition, great for swimming or relaxing.
Now, about the food: I would rate it a 9 out of 10 for a hotel in Cuba and a 7.5 for international. I was amazed by the all you can eat service, very complete and delicious, very special for the Cuban situation.
The staff are very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately I only stayed one night. I hope, I will be back here again soon.

Incredible hotel! Reservé una hahahación con vista al mar y obtuve la hahabitación 4309 con vista a la playa frente al campo de Golf. Lahabacion están bien, special tones, pero muy cómodo, limpia y tiene balcón terraza. El tiempo que estuve, a principios de noviembre de 2021, cuando el Cuba apenas comenzaba a reabrir el turismo. El número de turistas no es demasiado, pero ya hay muchos turistas, especialmente de Russia y Canada. El proceso de registro es bastante rápido y el proceso de salida es muy rápido, sin necesidad de esperar.
Me gusta mucho la playa a la que se puede acceder directamente desde el patio del hotel, la playa está limpia y bien cuidada, hermosa arena blanca. Las instalaciones para tomar el sol tambien son muy buenas. Además, disfruté de la piscina, que no es muy grande pero está en buenas condiciones y es agradable para nadar o simplemente para relajarme.
Sobre la comida: para un hotel en Cuba, lo califico con un 9 sobre 10 y para la clase internacional le doy un 7.5. Me sorprendió el servicio de todo lo que puedas comer, que fue bastante completo y delicioso, muy especial para las condiciones cubanas.
Los empleados son muy amables y están felices de ayudar. Desafortunadamente me quedé solo 1 noche. Espero volver pronto para quedarme aquí.

The staff at the hotel are absolutely amazing , everyone of them are super friendly and they make you feel like at home , specially Don Roberto at the buffet , Don Diago and Annais at the bar , Carlos at the coffe bar , Yohan with the entertainment crew and of course the amazing Lizandra with PR . I would totally recommend this place to stay in Varadero with your family or alone , you will always feel safe and welcomed. The food was good at least for me , we had rice, pasta , beans , lots of salads and delicious food , ice cream , bread , cheese, ham , eggs fro breakfast , chicken , pork and on the international restaurant you can get lobster and wine . The shows at night are so much fun for the whole family . I can’t wait to be back next year for another amazing week at Muthu ❤️

|6.64km from city centerThere are good reviews and bad reviews about this place on here... I would return to Varadero but not this hotel. It was the cheapest option and a bargain so I booked it. But you get what you pay for, this place is not perfect if you want perfection then pay more. So the good points: Brilliant location, the hotel is not on beach but less than 5 min walk away. It is next to little bars, restaurant, shops etc in a lovely little resort area. Not far from main part of varadero, you could walk or take a short taxi ride. Only about 20 to 25 mins from airport in taxi It has 2 other hotels you can use (all inclusive). I recommend booking in the restaurant at this hotel and there's other restaurants at hotels across road. The food is better than the buffet, which is not the best You get access to free activities on the beach. A short kayak ride is free and so is pedlos. There is also scuba diving and other stuff but you have to pay for this. The staff are great, most are very friendly and helpful. The entertainment is ok, not spectacular but at least they try. Different show every night but only lasts between 30 to 45 mins. There's a club you can go to but it's not free entry. They have bingo in the day and one day there was a pool party. They also do other little things in the day. The hotel is clean. Our room spotless but it is dated and needs some attention. Half of the hotel was out of use when I stayed and it looked like they were doing it up. But it's not too shabby and it is clean, pool area, reception, stairs and room The hotel is big. It has 2 pool areas, one has the swim up bar which is shallow then over the bridge is a massive pool to swim. The rooms were good size not massive. It has WiFi but not the best . Now the bad. The main problem is the food. I've been on many all inclusive and the food does get boring but here it's not much at all. With one main long table on both sides there's not much variety. They do try and I know it's cuba so some delivery issues but it's mainly rice and beans, they do a kind of salad bar with lovely fruit and veg carvings but there's flies everywhere and not enough protection to stop them goin on the food. They're have chicken and othe meat everyday but it's the same. I am not fussy with food and enjoyed most things I ate. But being vegetarian I was limited to the rice and beans, salads and pasta if it didn't have meat. The restaurant is not air conditioned hence all the flies. I advise going out to a the other restaurants you can book for free for most days that you are staying. No air con except in the rooms. The air con in the rooms is on continually which is great but in reception and restaurant, snack bar there is none. There's a little shop in the hotel which has air con so I'm not sure why it's not there anywhere else. Drinks are a bit hit and miss in terms of availability, some run out a lot but again, I understand about the delivery issues so just to give a heads up. No coffee, no coke so

|42.45km from city centerWe didn’t stay at the Velasco, but we went to the bar two nights in a row because the bartenders are all so nice. Osmay, Oliver and Yanerys all know how to mix great drinks. Osmay is the best at the “Velasco,” a drink named for the famous hotel itself. It is a colorful creation that has mint and grenadine liqueurs. He also speaks perfect English and is a gifted conversationalist whose passions outside of the bar are Baseball and Fishing. Yanerys is famous for inventing the “Purple Everest Daquiri” that includes a magical combination of wines and liquors that is not only extremely tasty, but also really beautiful when properly prepared (see pictures). Oliver is a gifted mixologist with a rich appreciation of the ingredients and techniques used, and regularly creates new and innovative mixed drinks. He showed us one design utilizing multiple colored liqueurs. Needless to say, this is a fun environment. It’s a beautiful hotel lobby bar with super nice staff.

Mary , the housekeeper was amazing and always set up cute shaped towels to entertain my little nephew. Mercy , from Public Relations coordinated a welcome gift to celebrate my birthday. The entire team was amazing always smiling and happy to assist. Food varied and the chicken always delicious 😉 my fav. Thank you for making us feel as family. Despite the weather it was a pleasure staying at the facilities. Walking the beach on the afternoon is to died for. Great views from the 7th floor balcony. The Maitre and all the attendees at this Hotel which changed name now to Playa Caleta were amazing! Great customer service
