The Japanese Modern House in Shinagawa is an ideal spot for travelers wanting to discover the city. Visitors to Tokyo will find that the Japanese Modern House in Shinagawa is a fantastic accommodation choice. Traveling to the hotel is easy with JR Osaki Station located approximately 600m away and Haneda Airport roughly 14km away. There's plenty to do nearby, with Kitashinagawa Shopping Street, Toko-ji Temple and Sodegasaki Shrine all within a short distance. My family and I stayed at Hotel New Otani Inn in Shinagawa for 6 nights. It was a excellent choice. Rooms were decently spacious, and up kept every day. The lobby is at Level 3, while level 2 is lined with more than 10 restaurants, and level 1 has shops such as supermarkets, Daiso etc. Lawson convenience store is next to the hotel too. Next to the hotel, is another office building with 4 levels of restaurants. Access to the Yamanote line is also very convenient, as the Osaki station is 100 meters away. Yamanote line is a loop, providing convenient access to the other parts of Tokyo e.g. Harajuku, Shinjuku, Tokyo station etc. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Chose this hotel for our last night in Tokyo - after a side trip to Kyoto - for convenience to Narita Airport. I wish I'd had time to explore the Shinagawa area but it wasn't in the cards. That said, this hotel is good value for the money. Staff were friendly and we were able to communicate adequately with them. Our double room was typically tiny but the bed was softer than usual, which I prefer. Amenities were all fine - nice, deep Japanese tub and toilet with all the bells and whistles, toothbrushes, etc., etc. - all crammed into a bathroom barely bigger than an airline bathroom if it had a bathtub. Breakfast was included: we got vouchers for the little chain cafe that's about 60 feet from the hotel's front door, where the lattes and breakfast sandwiches were great, along with the usual warm service. Convenience: I would say that it's about 20-30 paces from the hotel's front door to an escalator up to Shinbamba Station on the Keikyu line. 2 quick stops to Shinagawa Station where you can change to the JR line (and others) and go just about anywhere in Tokyo, or catch the Shinkansen bullet train to Yokohama/Kyoto/Osaka etc., or the Narita Express to (sadly) head out of Japan.

All in all, it's an ok choice. The hotel scores a 1 out of 10 for character, 7 out of 10 for comfort, 9 out of 10 for location, 9 out of 10 for the wifi, 3 out of 10 for the included breakfast, 5 out of 10 for amenities. Check-in was cold, yet efficient. The room was slightly larger than average for a room in Tokyo, and tastefully decorated overall. Bed was not very comfortable, nor were the pillows - very hard. Good sized bathroom with good amenities. Rooms have a Handy smartphone guests can use which is great for travellers. You can take this phone with you and use it for finding your way around the city using Google Maps, using the city guides/tour recommendations on the phone, free 30 minutes of mobile hotspot (then paid after that...). It was very, handy! My rate included breakfast, which is served at Il Chianti Restaurant below the hotel. Hours are 7:00am-10:00am (last entry for breakfast at 9:30am). It has an ok buffet selection, nothing special at all. And after eating this for 4 days in a row the offerings were very repetitive and boring. The hotel does not have a Fitness Centre, but directs guests downstairs to the Sports Club NAS, where hotel guests must pay 1080 JPY to use the facility. The hotel has guest laundry on the 10th floor and is self-serve. 200 JPY for just a wash, 400-500 JPY for wash/dry (in the same machine). Location is good - Osaki train station is less than a 5 minute walk away. There's lots of restaurants and shops around the hotel. Ginza area is only a 10 minute ride away on the train.

We, a Touring (RWCup) Party of 30+ Brits, stayed here for 3 nights in early Oct 2019 (way pre-Covid19). It was the first of 4 stays in Tokyo, so we had time to explore a different area of the City each time - different Hotels each time. Commended strategy - City is so vast. 250 Rooms on 23 Floors of a tall modern tower block with all the design niceties of exactly that. It did have Bars, Restaurants, Dining Rooms and large Meeting/Conference Facilities, but our focus was on the Rugby. Breakfast was served in the middle of the Ground Floor area, so whilst it was a Buffet Style service, being in this middle of a Lounge did give it an odd feel. Quantity and Quality of food Items was high. Service was OK as it was suffering under the strain of being very full. Fresh grain/granary bread to slice yourself and Honey still in the comb - fabulous Nice Gym, but as it is run as a 'Private Members Club', it was not available to Guests. It was featured on the Web Site, but not that it couldnt be used by Guests, so a big disapointment - a deceptive illusion created. Nice gardens to open side of Hotel afforded a few minutes of fresh air walking space. Comfortable Rooms, if a tad boring and functional, befitting of an International Meag-Chain. Great Views from one side for Train Spotters of Bullet trains (and many others) along the adjajacent lines, going into Shinagawa Station. However, the key advantage of this place to us was the Location - easy walk to Shingagawa Station, Buses, Taxis, Shops, and a host of Bars & Restaurants - markedly cheaper than the Hotel's. Als the walk through the neighbourhood directly acrioss the main railway lines to the East was worthwhile - over to the Docks & Canals & Waterways Functionality - Fine, Charm and Character - not so much. It did what it had to do, but nothing more, nor special.

It was our first time in Japan and to navigate the trains. The location of the guest house was extremely easy to find, and on a nice quiet road. The staff spoke English well and were very accommodating! We asked for recommendations for dinner and not only did they give us a great idea of Japanese bbq, but the staff walked us to the location and helped with translating to the staff that we only spoke English. They had a English speaking waitress that helped us. The guest house is older but that is what we expected for in a Japanese guesthouse, but the house is very clean ! We could hear people moving about at night, but again this is to be expected. Earbuds did the trick. My husband and I had a room with the bunk beds, that had enough room for our luggage but that was about it. Which again....who needs the room space when you have Old Tokyo to explore. In the morning the staff held our luggage while we explored Tokyo and they gave us a map to a cafe, since most places don’t open until after 10am. The cafe was across the street from a local Shrine as well. The location was great again since we picked up our luggage at the end of the day and took the train one stop away from Shinagawa station to jump on the bullet train.

Stopped overnight here whilst travelling to Kyoto due to its proximity to Shinagawa station (5 minutes walk). It was a small, clean room with a comfortable single bed. The bathroom/toilet was tiny though so don’t expect to soak in the bath after a humid day’s travelling. The room contained a fridge, microwave, hot plate and sink, air conditioning, TV, multi-charger for phones/tablets. There is LAN connection if needed and free wifi throughout the building. Things to note - there is no sink or mirror in the bathroom, also there is no mirror at the sink next to the hot plate so wet shaving is guesswork. If you stay more than one night there is no room cleaning service and if you need replacement towels you should exchange them at reception. There is no restaurant in this Inn but there are plenty of places to eat within walking distance. There is a vending machine on the lower floor where you can purchase cold drinks, this is in the laundry room which has a couple of washing machines and driers for hire. For one nights stopover this place was adequate but I wouldn’t want a longer stay - I think it was expensive for what it is.

If you loves omakase breakfast at Toyosu market, shopping at Venus Fort, Diver City, Aqua City, visiting the TeamLab Borderless and TeamLab Planets, and hot-spring at Ooedo Onsen, that's the perfect location. Even gives you quick access to Disney resort and Haneda Airport! Small rooms as usual but the one with twin double beds is excellent for parents with two young children. The only downside is no car-rental nearby.

this hotel is always my favourite. the location is very convenient for shopping, for food & for transport. However, it took me over 45minutes to check in hotel because they couldn't find my booking although I provided the Trip.com's confirmation number but I had no hotel confirmation number. Owing to the super typhoon which I must stay in the hotel, the hotel staff provided quality services & very good food. Overall, I enjoyed the stay.

Check in was a breeze, efficient and high tech. Godzilla head is an interesting feature of the hotel (esp. for fans), and location is great, right in the middle of the happening area. room size is good, can even be bigger if the toilet is joined with the bathing area. can bring the 2 single beds together to form a large bed.

Suidobashi/Tokyo Dome
Their service is nothing short of excellent. They have staff who are fluent in English (and other languages as well, I suspect). Me and my friend came thinking that we would be staying in a Single Room with Extra Bed since that was what we booked as we attempted to be more economic. However, to our pleasant surprise, our room was upgraded to a much much bigger room for free. We are very thankful to the helpful staff for making our stay pleasant and extremely comfortable. The location is great as it in located somewhere in between Iidabashi and Suidobashi which is pretty much close to the geographical center of Tokyo. Head east you will be able to visit Akihabara and Asakusa quick. Head west, you will be able to hit Shinjuku, Harajuku, and Shibuya. The neighbourhood is fairly quiet and the Tokyo Dome is just a 10-15 minute stroll away. If I am coming back to visit Japan, this hotel will be a clear top choice for me. Haven't had the opportunity to have the breakfast at this hotel, but I will certainly try it out on my next stay here.

Good hotel. Location is great and convenient, pretty much inside Sunshine city mall. There’s also a 24/7 family mart as well. Didn’t encounter any elevator problems in regards to having to wait long queue times.
