I stayed at The Bull Inn overnight for work, but my partner accompanied me. The pub is just lovely, very beautiful building. The rooms were quiet and although fairly small it was a double and the bathroom was nice, it was also clean. Breakfast was yummy, I had the cooked Full English which was a good size, and not greasy. Lots of choice on the breakfast menu. We also ate in the pub for dinner and the menu is good, really nice Pie of the Day and a Burger. But mainly I'd recommend the staff - Kelly was so welcoming and accommodating

The hometown of Princess Kate, a beautiful place not far from London. The hotel is elegant in appearance and is a bit old inside. It is just a 20-minute walk from the central city on the banks of the River Thames. The brand of Crowne Plaza is still there, the service level is not bad, it is recommended to book an executive room.

Good location, five minutes walk from Reading Railway Station. The entrance is a street garden. Opposite is the office building. The room was on the back floor and looked like a new one, but it didn't taste much. The room is large, the bathroom is large, and it is very comfortable. Breakfast is not bad, there are not many options, but it tastes good. There is a parking lot.

They have a great system of leaving the key in a box, and giving you the code, so you can check in late without causing any problems. Couldn't get closer to the rail station. For the cheapest room with an ensuite that I could find in Reading, it was a really nice room. In the old town, so an interesting view of the street. Clean. And breakfast was done with a deal with the café downstairs - anything on the menu! More b&b should do that, it was brilliant. No need to book your eating time.

On arrival we were greeted by Ana - possibly the frendliest member of staff that we've ever been greeted by at a Premier Inn. Ana was there again to greet us for breakfast - still very cheery despite her clearly long shift! Breakfast was served at the table rather than a buffet and was very well cooked, plus good value at £8.99 each. The location is great as there's a lovely riverside walk close by and the C-19 measures that they have put in place are very good. Typical Premier Inn room - quiet, spacious and nice and clean, plus very good value at present due to lack of people travelling.

I recently booked The Market House very last minute (same day) when i was travelling on business. I had no time to check it out first and had no idea what it was like. Lady luck was certainly on my side that day. The Market House is a gem. The rooms are spacious, well appointed and feel really stylish. The bed was comfy. The Bathrooms are excellent, great showers and big. staff were great, friendly and efficent. The location is excellent, right in town and a short walk to the multistorey (Queens Street). £16 over night parking. Breakfast was tasty and cooked fresh, not included in price but, not a rip off which you often find in other hotels. The only critisim I could say was the bar/resturant area was freezing. Its a big space and it was cold outside but, after one drink I moved on to warmer climates up the road. Maybe the heating wasnt on that evening? Other than that, i wouldnt hesitate to stay here again. Sure it would be a great spot for a weekend away also. At £99 a night, you can't go wrong. Kudos to owners and staff.

Hotel bedding was comfortable. The room I booked does not include breakfast. There are many things to eat in the town, and it is very convenient to eat and live.

Located in the city center, a five-minute walk from the train station, there are many surrounding living facilities. The rooms are clean and well-equipped and cleaned once a week. There is no air conditioner and the temperature in Britain has been high recently, which is a bit difficult to receive. In addition, the surrounding bars were full of enthusiasm and it was not until the middle of the night that they could be quiet.

Booked a room on the business floor as the website said it was a quieter option, and a later checkout. As we were staying out quite late we thought that this would be great for a lie in. How wrong could we be. We arrived at around 4:30pm having run the gauntlet of ‘undesirables’ hanging around outside and found that the cleaners were still banging about with vacuum cleaners (our room was right next to the linen store), this continued for another hour or so. We got back to the ‘hotel’ at around 12:30am, and just as we got to bed doors started banging and there was loud shouting and laughing in the corridors and the next room. This went on, on and off, for about another hour. Come 9am next morning the banging shouting and loud laughing started again. When we opened the door there was a smell of weed in the corridor and a group of cleaners were in the next room laughing and giggling. Add the two together and see if you came to the same conclusion we did! We asked them to be quiet but they only made more noise. The only plus here was the friendly and pleasant desk staff on arrival and departure. This is definitely not what is expected from a ‘branded’ hotel chain, management and cleaning staff at this hotel need a radical shake up. If we need to stay in Reading again we will spend a little more and stay at the Pentahotel over the road.

We have stayed at this hotel before. Surrounded by nice grounds (Mostly golf course) the main Mansion part of the hotel is fantastic, its grand and classic but with recently upgraded rooms. Unfortunately for us… the mansion building was closed due to the pandemic I believe (I was not aware of this at booking) still we did have a nice 2 days in the more corporate (golf) side of the hotel which is a short walk from the mansion. This is where the swimming pool, gym etc are so it worked out ok. The Pandemic did make for an interesting stay, with a limited room service menu, breakfast being served in a paper bag outside your hotel room door, masks everywhere and having to book pool slots in advance (Which is a good thing). The hotel seems to be handling the Covid-19 situation well and it felt very safe with sanitiser everywhere and cleaned and sealed rooms. I probably wouldn't book a stay here again if I couldn't upgrade to the Mansion as that is what made our first visit so special. Without the Mansion it is still a pretty decent standard hotel. When the mansion is back open, I thoroughly recommend this hotel for a country stay.

This hotel has a lot to commend it. It is spacious, very peaceful and friendly. The staff are very polite and make a point of greeting guests on arrival and checking they have what they need. The pleasant atmosphere is such that guests chat to each other. Some details let it down slightly e.g. the scratchy blanket on the bed was very uncomfortable and there was a lack of information about amenities e.g. I didn't know there was a garden until I was leaving and although there was an area marked 'bar' (and one guest in the lounge had a drink in his hand), there didn't seem to be one. Some of the fixtures are a bit loose e.g. taps, a window blind. This is a shame because otherwise, the hotel is very well appointed, with nice furniture etc. and lots of thoughtful touches. Also, the eccentric layout of my room could bother some people because it feels less private to have the bathroom and loo across a small landing. Plus you have to remember to either wedge the door open or take your room key with you when you go to the bathroom. I would definitely stay there again. If you want anonymous chain where every room is absolutely identical, everyone ignores you and you know exactly what to expect without any frills, this hotel is not for you. If you appreciate the personal touch, value peace and quiet, like plenty of space, appreciate good manners and don't mind the occasional quirk, then you should book this hotel.

Our wedding day was on the 29th August at The Mill House and was the first to include a wedding reception since the easing of pandemic restrictions. We didn’t know if we would be allowed to go ahead with the wedding reception until 2 weeks before our wedding day. There were so many uncertainties which made planning so difficult. Kim and Mark (owners of the venue and our wedding organisers) were absolutely amazing. They couldn’t have been more supportive and flexible. Their flexibility, positive attitude, understanding and patience put us at ease and allowed us to organise a beautiful wedding, exactly how we wanted it to be. We can’t thank them enough for making our day so special. Chris, Andy and the other members of the Mill house team who looked after us during our wedding day were also wonderful, very friendly and professional. The wedding venue is simply gorgeous. We were lucky enough to hold our ceremony outside in the lovely garden. The garden is naturally beautiful with many amazing flowers, a fountain, river and Georgian house in the background. It is located in a secluded area, which made our wedding very intimate and private. Our wedding breakfast was held in the beautiful marquee, it is absolutely stunning and the food was delicious. The two chefs did a fantastic job. Even our most epicurean guests have complimented on how wonderful the food was. Everyone has greatly enjoyed the wedding, especially us. We can’t recommend The Mill House highly enough.

Firstly, this hotel isn't in the centre of Reading. It's roughly 2 miles from the train station. There is a bus stop outside and a taxi is about £7.40. I stayed because I was attending a festival in Prospect Park next door so it was the perfect location. The park was in walking distance. If you are attending events in there be warned that there's no lighting so coming back across the (occasionally) rough terrain was a little laborious. The hotel itself is an interesting place. It looks as though it may have been converted from another business into its current incarnation. The front is nice but you appear to be entering into what was originally the first floor. The lift kind of gives that away from the buttons jump from ground to second floor. If you look through the grills in the car park you can see what was probably once the original ground floor (now listed as the basement). The hotel was clean and, for me, quiet. My room was a little difficult to find as the numbers jumped. It took a moment but my room (on the second floor) was beside a linen room. Very sunny room and the staff had left a fan in there. The bathroom was nice and there were plenty of toiletries. The only complaint was that the sink was blocked and took a while to drain. The shower was gloriously powerful and I made sure to enjoy that! The room had all the usual bits and pieces; hairdryer, TV, tea and coffee. Tea and coffee was in the desk cupboard. The bed was a little on the hard side and I found myself waking up at 4.30am. Breakfast was nice and included in the price. A cooked breakfast after a night of losing your voice singing was very welcome! The dining room was also fairly empty, which was also a blessing. The staff were friendly and helpful and provided information on buses and taxis, especially as I was leaving on a Sunday. Overall, a pleasant stay and would stay again.

I have used Premier Inn previously but not this particular hotel. It's perfectly situated right in the centre of Reading across the road from The Oracle, so all the shops, pubs and restaurants are within easy walking distance. We ordered a takeaway Wagamas from our room and collected from literally over the road 20 minutes later. We stayed for one night before starting a 100-mile bicycle ride to Bristol via the Kennet & Avon Canal the next day, which is also conveniently located across from this Premier Inn. It was bike-friendly and we could store them in our room as promised in the advert. The staff were very welcoming, friendly, professional and polite, this was all staff we came into contact with. I was very happy with the COVID safe policy and it was evident that everything was cleaned religiously. The lady on reception was respectful of the fact I am exempt from wearing a mask also which was pleasant as I do encounter some negativity when travelling out and about. The room was spotless and still had tea & coffee making facilities. The bed was comfortable and although the room overlooked the main road opposite The Oracle the windows prevented most of the road noise. So this wasn't an issue. Breakfast was included in the room rate and was great. As it is all freshly cooked to order now due to COVID, everything hot is cooked fresh instead of in a buffet style. Check-in and check-out times are great also. Would definitely stay again for the great low price, I can highly recommend this particular Premier Inn.

It’s situated down a country lane, surrounded by countryside. Our on-suite room above the garage doesn’t sound great but actually was fine – it’s light with several windows and spacious enough. The bed was comfortable and we slept well. Breakfast was OK. The owner was very helpful and not only arranged taxis at short notice but also found a bottle of wine so that we could enjoy a pre-dinner drink. Local taxis are expensive – especially if ordered at little notice; if you need a taxi then order it before arrival – the owner can advise on whom to contact. There is ample space to park a car and it’s pretty secure. We’d happily stay there again.

We stopped in to eat at the adjoining restaurant. 26th Oct 18:30. In these difficult covid-centric times, we took a friend out to cheer her up around the date of her scheduled/cancelled wedding! We had 6 people including our guest! The covid restrictions were well explained and adherence didn’t take away from the eating out atmosphere, once we were settled at our table and mask free. The food was a delightful and exciting change from home cooking, lime and mango chicken starters, bbq burnt ends in IPA BBQ sauce burgers to name a few. The staff were so apologetic and attentive, explaining the things they must have been through 1000 or more times, like it mattered to them every time. It was good to be out, it was great to dine out! Food, Service, Price all good. Thank you so much, I hope you come through this nightmare on top! You are doing all the right things your good location, nice food, well trained, attentive staff! We certainly want to come back again! We hope we can!

I was attending the Reading Comicon doing a Selling and Signing for my books and needed somewhere nearby to stay for the two nights Friday and Saturday. After looking on various sites I selected this hotel because it had all the thgings I wanted, off-road parking, non-smoking, free wifi and of course a lovely breakfast. I arrived Friday evening at 21.30hrs. It was dark and wet and I was a bit stressed because the 1.30 - 2.00 hour journey took three hours due to an accident on the M3. My paperwork said I needed to book in before 22.00 hrs. I'd found the place easily enough once I'd negociated Reading's awful over/under passes and one-way system at night (having never been to Reading before). I parked in one of the off-road spaces in front of the hotel rather than navigate the tiny alley to the rear car park. Reaching the front door, I noticed the place quiet and pretty dark inside. The front door was locked and seeing the intercom I rang the number advised. Nothing. No response. I pressed it again, nothing. I scanned the area. No sign of life so I knocked the front door loudly. Still nothing. I lifted the handset again and re-pressed the number. This time a man answered. I told him who I was and that I'd arrived. He seemed confused but said he'd come down. I was a bit surprised at his reaction, but thought maybe he'd been doing something when I called. He opened the door somewhat cautiously. I repeated that I had a booking. He looked like he didn't believe me. I showed him my booking details which I'd luckily printed off in preparation. I was shown into the reception and made to wait while he checked first his computer and then phoned someone. I was informed there was no booking for me. Clearly this was wrong since I held it in my hand. I'd made the booking in late January almost 11 months earlier. In fact, I'd also sent a question about the off-road car parking and Abbey House hotel had answered my question regarding it. I suggested he check it with the owner. He replied that he didn't know the owner, only his colleague which seemed odd. I also realised I seemed to be the only person there. This made me feel a bit uneasy. He made me wait quite a while in reception while he checked things, which I know was the correct thing to do, but honestly I was dead on my feet after a full day at work and then driving to Reading. I wanted a bath and bed. I was asked to fill in a form entering all my details like I'd come from another country. I asked to check that they would be destroying my details when I left in keeping with GDPR law as I didn't want them to fall into unknown hands. He didn't appear to understand my query. I also had to sign a declaration to confirm that I wouldn't smoke in the building. I'm a non-smoker so I entered 'not applicable' (N/A). Finally, I'd had enough and asked if he could show me to a room, I needed somewhere to sleep that night and I was begining to get more upset. He told me he was only here six months

Checked on internet they had availability, then when I arrived two hours later the price at checkin was higher than on the net two hours before. Surly young man at reception. No welcome at all. Didn't tell me the price until after he took my card. Room was unheated in February. Turned the thermostat up. No change. Then discovered the electric radiator was turned off. At least tell the guest they need to turn the radiator socket on to get any heat. Still cold. Then found a plug in oil radiator hidden away (so clearly they know there is a heating issue). Next problem is that there are only two sockets in the whole room. So with the radiator plugged in there is only one left! One socket???? In all the twenty or so premier inns I have ever stayed in I have never heard noise from rooms above or adjacent. That is why I like Premier Inn. Until this one. You can clearly hear the the tv, the guests, the toilet, the shower and the walking around of the room above. There is a big issue with soundproofing here. The pub next door is ok but the low occupancy meant that the continental breakfast was the worst I have ever had at a Premier Inn. Stale croissants, tired, uninteresting bread, two squished pains au chocolat, no pain au raisins as advertised, the red fruits were a small bowl of supersweet cherries, the fruit selection was really poor and they had the sadest looking excuse of a fruit salad I have ever seen with brown bits of apple swimming in a sugary gloop. Yoghurts were not the Yeo valley organic as they advertise. If you don't have the demand for a continental breakfast don't do it and I will stay at another Premier Inn that does it properly. I live in France and don't want a cooked breakfast. The continental is what I want and it shouldn't be a poor relation where you just shove whatever you can find out on a table. Charge me the same price as a cooked breakfast and do it properly please. Would you expect a french hotel to offer an "English breakfast" for less money than a continental breakfast and then give you something horrible, justifying it as being cheaper? If you don't want to provide an alternative to a cooked breakfast then don't advertise it. I had no problem with the guy hosting breakfast, just the quality of the food.

The advantage is that it is close to the university. There are refrigerators, microwave ovens and tableware in the room. It is also very close to Tesco. It takes about 20 minutes to walk to the town center. The disadvantage is that there is basically no service. After the waiter cleans the room, the person cleans it.
