The hotel’s location is right in the heart of the city and there are many restaurants nearby. Crab Hut is next door to the hotel and it takes only 6 or 7 minutes to walk to the online shop, Breakfast Republic. It is also a valet parking. The lobby is grand and the building is historic. The shortcoming of this type of hotel is that the facilities are too old, the bathroom is small, the toilet is next to the rain, and the sink is outside, very small. We stayed on the 14th floor and the ventilation of the bathroom was very noisy. The hotel said it was because we were living in the vents. Of course, the hotel also proposed to change rooms, we did not change the trouble.

I live in the Marina district in downtown San Diego. My siblings, & their spouses planned a visit to see me in my city, & chose the Gaslamp Plaza Suites as their local base of operations while they were in town. The building is historic, and it was fun to imagine it's long glamorous history amid the nuances of an earlier era, while we explored the unique, and ornate stylings of the rooms, and the incredible views from the rooftop terrace. As is the case with any edifice that has remained standing for so long, there are sometimes logistical issues that one might not experience during a modern hotel stay. This is where the incredible staff figures into the equation. While each of ,”the Crew”, as they referred to themselves, was outstanding, I feel as though I should mention one employee by name. Merry, who greeted my family from behind the desk as they arrived, seemed earnestly interested in enhancing our time and enjoyment at the hotel, & was attentive, friendly, welcoming, & professional. She clearly loves the Hotel, and the people and guests with whom she works, and her positivity was evident throughout. It may be unusual for someone to leave a review of a hotel when they haven't even registered as a guest, but the vicarious thrill I received from witnessing my family's admiration for the holistic experience, compelled me to write and recommend it to any visitor to America's Finest City.

Couldn’t be happier with my stay at the Kimpton. It is located very near to the Gaslamp Quarters (like 2 blocks away), and it’s very happening on weekend nights especially if there’s a local team playing. Expect the mood to be rowdy, happening and full with all the sports fan. What I dislike about the area is there’s too many homeless people around this area too. Literally just at the corner of the hotel is like a rest area for them. The place also smell like urine at night. Even so, I felt quite safe there even for single woman. The hotel is also very convenient, there’s CVS and 7 Eleven on the same street and also the tram stop. The hotel has a modern chic deco. A nice bar at the lobby which also serves the morning coffee. The rooms are a bit small, but enough for couples with 2-3 large cases. I have a room overlooking the pool, which is kinda of nice. I like big windows which allows sunlight to come through and I’m please with the amount of light I have in this room. Pool is a bit quiet, good for afternoon tan with the western sun. But the water is a bit cool even though it claimed to be heated. I didn’t swim but had 2 afternoons at the pool side. The hotel gives $10/day restaurant credit. It can be used for breakfast at the restaurant. For drivers, and those not familiar with the area, it is possible to miss the hotel drop off entirely. I couldn’t find “Kimpton Hotel” as the main sign wrote “Hotel Palomar”.

I have never experienced such horrible service from front desk staff. We booked three rooms for three nights and ended up cancelling when we got there. The lady at the front desk, Alex, told us upon arrival that our reservation rate wasn’t valid (which was booked through Marriott and valid at every hotel we have stayed at in the past 8 years). She didn’t even offer or care to help resolve the situation. The manager came, and I couldn’t listen to his excuses at that point. When your front desk staff treats guest like that, it’s a reflection of poor leadership skills. This hotel was a stop for us on a long trip, and it was the only hotel I could say anything bad about out. It was absolutely terrible! The inside of the hotel was nice, but the surrounding area wasn’t great. We are on a big family trip and it ended up working out in our favor as we found a beautiful hotel near downtown La Jolla right by the ocean. It was only 15 min away with a lot more to do there. There are so many better options within a 10 mile radius that offer staff that actually care about their guest. I will give a shout-out where it’s due, the bellhop was very kind and helpful. I suggest hotel management and front desk staff spend a little time with them to learn what human decency looks like.

I spent 7 nights during the GBTA Convention here at the Moxy and had a good time. Only the noise due to the ventilation system was annoying. Great bar and staff and nice location with lots of games to play at night. Breakfast was good too and not too expensive. Short distances to all locations in San Diego. Jennifer Rivera-Nichols 1/5 just now on Google I arrived with my mom to check in at this worst San Diego hostel at 1am...ridiculously exhausted. My mom had just paid to park 2 blocks away and we carried armfuls of belongings with us to the hostel. When we arrived, the clerk was like, ”Reservation?” like my mom was speaking Greek. She said nothing and just walked away. Minute later the owner came in and told my mom that I was not allowed to stay there because I'm under 18. She was talking to my mom like a bully. My mom explained to the owner that our room was already paid for, that she had booked it thru hotels.com as a minor + adult, and that it was 1am already...we're exhausted and where else are we gonna get a room at that hour. I kept falling asleep on their staircase during this time because I was so tired. The lady was arguing with my mom about their rules. Meanwhile, the clerk keeps saying to my mom, ”She's just trying to help you.” That's a lie. If they wanted to help, they could have...but they did not. After a heated conversation, the owner says she will allow me to stay. I was relieved. Then 3 seconds later I just heard her tell my mom, ”Nevermind. I don't like your attitude. You need to get off my property.” WTH Really? This mean lady was gaslighting my mom, bullying her, and was mad at us for just for walking thru the door. She could have approached my mom saying, ”Hi, I'm So-and-So, the owner. It looks like there is a discrepancy with your booking. Because we have shared bathrooms here, we don't allow children. I know it's 1am, and hearing this is really stressful, but let's see what we can do to figure this out. Would you be able to accompany your daughter to the bathroom?” Instead she treated my mom really bad like she had done something wrong. We've stayed at plenty of hostels. None of them had a policy saying I could not be there. I was starting to feel really scared that I would not have a place to sleep since I heard my mom on the phone trying to find a new hotel. They were all full or $300. This Gaslamp Hostel owner is anti-children, anti-family, and made me feel like I had caused my mom so much hassle :-( After we wasted an hour trying to check in and get our money back, I tried to cheer my mom up. I was hugging her while she sat on the phone with hotels.com. I told her I could sleep in the car so she would not have to spend more money or be more stressed, but my mom said it's not safe to sleep in the car, and she didn't know where we could park to do that anyway. My mom was crying when we left. We ended up sleeping in a gross motel smoking room. I saw a bug on the table when we walked in. The owner of this cheap San Diego hotel is not a human being. All the next day, my mom was depressed and sad. This occurrence really ruined our entire weekend. Gaslamp Hostel reviews San Diego. Worst San Diego hostel. Downtown San Diego hostel nightmare. NOT the best San Diego hostel--total nightmare. Disaster. Horror story. TripAdvisor Ga

Parking Taitmagui 50 knives around several parking lots are not the same price, but overnight, if it is half past two in the middle of the night, and I have seen a pit that has never seen such a pit, who can set a bed that is absolutely enough. Too small, the price is not high, the distance from the Midway Aircraft Carrier is 1.5 kilometers.

The hotel is small but sophisticated, cosy and atmospheric. Near gas lamp old neighborhood. Supermarkets are convenient for dining and not far from the harbour. The disadvantage is that there is some noise in front of the street at night. The price is very high, and it is worth my fourth order! Breakfast is nutritious. Eat any fruit.

I am a person who has to travel for business around the country and other countries very constantly, and this has been by far THE WORST hotel I had ever stayed. First the original room the shower didn’t work so we were moved, second you can hear everything from the other rooms and 3 times we had to call to complaint about 2 rooms around us literally having parties and drinking on the hallway, 2 of these calls were at 2:30am!! And all these were the same guests!! And 3rd, they claimed that they don’t do house keeping until the third day, in which we called during the morning to have them come clean ot, they said yes, it never happened!! And when asked the front desk again in the afternoon, they called the lady on our floor who said she didn’t have us on the list but gave us fresh towels… I felt like staying at a Hostel in the worst place of a town!! This hotel should be 100dls a night, not worth the price AT ALL!!!! Avoid staying here!!!!! Hotel from hell!!!

The hotel is relatively close to UCSD. It is about 10 minutes walk to the Sixth College, and there are whole food, pharmacy, movie theater and gas station within 6 minutes away. This hotel has been in business for a long time. The fixed decoration inside is a bit old. Especially the water pressure is very low and the bath is very uncomfortable. But the bedding is good and sleeping is very comfortable. Don't put in that little money if you choose a room with a balcony. It will be very comfortable. There are two types of sea view rooms, one is where you can see the aircraft carrier. Only one side can see the bridge. You can ask the front desk when you get the room. Facing the fishing village, you can see the aircraft carrier. The surrounding environment did not say. It's beautiful and convenient. There are many characteristic restaurants around. Although there is a slight price increase, it is still not expensive. Hello, it is also very close to the supermarket in the city, and it is only 600 meters away. It is a very recommended hotel.

The location is great, in the gaslamp quarter. About half an hour walk from the famous Balboa Park. It is not too far from the port of San Diego. Many bars and restaurants downstairs. Good is very convenient, and bad is very noisy at night. The choice for nightlife is right here. The music downstairs is a lot of Latin and there are street bands. Okay. The staff were very welcoming. Will organize a city tour. Breakfast is average, no milk. The decoration is very unique, the patio is very warm, but unfortunately there is no time to enjoy. Washing clothes one dollar at a time, drying one dollar. Would consider here if I return.

The hotel is really good and the location is quite good. The grade is absolutely no problem, the landscape is quite good. More generally, the surrounding area is not convenient, there is no other surrounding, the landscape along the coastline, but since you have chosen this scenery, the surrounding is not good. It must be criticized that the reservation did not say that there is a need for RESORT FEE, nearly 40 dollars, parking for 36 dollars. This price is totally different. A little foolish feeling.

The three waiters at the front desk are very nice and patiently answer your questions. Note that this hostel plus hotel is not 24 hours, you must check in before 11pm. No one at the front desk after 11 o'clock, remember to confirm with the hotel in advance. Breakfast is mainly bread and yoghurt. It ’s no problem to be full. The bathroom is super large. There is a separate kitchen in the dormitory room for many people. The stove is complete, which means less utensils. You can make the seafood you buy. Remember to buy the seasoning yourself. The only problem with the room was the lack of heating. The location is in Little Italy, and buses and trams are nearby.

If you are planning to go fishing out of Fisherman’s landing or H&M and don’t want to travel a long distance and then hop on a boat at 5AM, this hotel is perfect. Bonus is no parking hassles, there is plenty of secure parking in the lot. This hotel is literally 100 yards directly across the street from Fisherman’s Landing and H&M tackle shops and the dock the sport fleet leaves from. Also walking distance to several restaurants and a great brewery. There is a small pool but no jacuzzi. No view unless you get a room facing the harbor. Staff is nice and there is a tiny self serve area to buy snacks and beverages by the front desk. The property is old and the room shows its age. Could use some updates and if you were bringing the wife n kids, this is probably not the place for you but for me, going fishing and just wanting a place to sleep before and after a long 1.5 days at sea, it served its purpose. When I go on another fishing trip, i will check into staying here again.

We'll definitely stay here whenever visiting San Diego. This was our second visit and we couldn't have been more pleased. Our room was very clean. We stayed in a room with a king sized bed, overlooking the pool and waterfront. Our experience with staff was fantastic. It was nice to experience great customer service, which seems to be lacking in todays world. Kudos to staff!! The location of the hotel worked perfect for us. The only thing I would like to see is to add a makeup mirror in the bathroom. At least our room didn't have one. We were celebrating an anniversary and staff left us a treat in our room, which was very thoughtful. THANK YOU Courtyard San Diego Airport/Liberty Station!!!!!

Nice hotel. Everything is clean and up to date. Hotel has an included breakfast (typical hotel type). Convenient location in hotel circle makes it easy to get to where you're going each day. You do have to drive a little for most dining options. Parking is $20 per night (depending on who checks you in they may reduce it to $10, but make sure they actually do that on your bill. I've had them say that and then when I check my credit card they charged the full amount). That's why they only get 2 stars for service on this trip.

I was maliciously opposed to me that morning because I complained to their hotel headquarters that the air conditioner was not muted and the carpet was cleaned. At the time I was working on the documents in the lobby, he asked me to go back to my room immediately! Later, two staff members told me with a tough attitude that they should find them. Admittedly, we selected this hotel because it was the best price in the area and was very close to Petco Park. Since we were in San Diego to attend a game, it was an easy decision. Our room was fine but fairly small. The bathroom was quite large and very nice. (I would have settled for a slightly smaller bathroom with larger room.) Our friends' room was even smaller. The rooftop bar had a great view and was very nicely set up. The one big negative I had....It was advertised online and in the elevator that the Bistro offered drinks and food throughout the day. The reality was that, due to limited staffing, it was closed. Complimentary coffee was available there....if you were lucky enough to find it. We were later told to just wave down the front desk person to get more coffee. I understand that, due to Covid, places are short staffed. I let them know that they need to change their web site since we were expecting to find a place within the hotel to grab coffee and snacks or a few bites. Otherwise, we were able to walk to so much in the area.

The environment is good, very comfortable, the room is very clean, the service attitude of the handsome guy at the front desk is excellent, I have stayed here again and again, and won my heart. It is very close to UCSD, which is great.
