|11.62km from city centerFollowing I-59 South, you take 459 around Birmingam to get to this remodeled Sleep Inn and Suites. Very nice with comfortable room and bed. We walked a short distance down Collonnade to a mall where we had a great meal at Rock and Roll Sushi. Breakfast was grab and go since this stay was back in October, 2021.

|2.83km from city centerMy main reason for coming to Birmingham was to visit the civil rights sites but staying a couple of nights in a late 19th century mansion was a nice bonus in the middle of a long road trip. The house is certainly beautiful and the location is quite nice. There are a couple of upscale restaurants in the neighborhood (Five Points), a real good bbq place and a bunch of standard fast food places. I found there was plenty of parking behind the building (the parking lot belongs to the mansion) and it was a convenient, quick drive to the civil rights sites. The breakfast both mornings was ample and delicious. I found it to be a relaxing two days.

|11.87km from city centerI stayed here last year and so when I returned to Birmingham I needed to stay here again and I was not disappointed. I got the renovated superior king and it was great. Everything seemed brand new and in perfect working order. The A/C blew really cold air on a steaming hot day. Fridge was very clean and cold. WiFi was pretty fast and reliable, around 20 Mbps download speed. The TV shows cable channels in 4K and there are several HBO channels, so you will be pleased with the selection. The hotel needs to print those channel listings sheets and put them in all the rooms. Mattress was comfy and pillows fluffy. I do have a minor complaint about the shower head, it just has less pressure than I like. Please try to upgrade to the head with big powerful jets. I also don't like all-wood floors, so at least try to tape a rug near the door so on rainy days you can take off your wet shoes without tracking wet spots all over the room. Also install a rug near the bed so bare feet ain't touching a bare floor. I can't be the only person who likes carpets in hotel rooms, right? Ice machine is on the 3rd floor. Parking is crowded on weekends but I was still able to park close to the elevator. Lobby is very clean and the clerk was very friendly. Overall, I highly recommend this Red Roof and will definitely stay here again when I'm in town.

|2.66km from city centerThis was my fourth stay with Homewood Suites near UAB. And like all the other times, it was amazing! When I walked in to check in, the young lady actually recognized me from my last visit and reminded me of my Hilton Honors, which I had forgotten about, and gave me a complimentary bag with 2 bottled waters and treats! Very welcoming! The complimentary breakfast was phenomenal! So many items of variety to choose from! The young lady over the breakfast area came by my table to make sure everything was OK. We spoke about my trip. Very friendly and kind to me and other guests. They even have a manager's reception during the evenings (unfortunately I wasn't able to attend) When I checked out, Tracy greeted me with smile and asked if everything was to my liking, which I responded Yes! I always enjoy my stay with Homewood! Which is true, the rooms and views are spectacular! Mine was a king size bed with a sofa that let's out to a good size bed. Spacious bathroom area, and a kitchenette fully equipped with a counter top stove, microwave, good size refrigerator, coffee/tea maker, dishes, pots and pans even a garbage disposal. Homewood near UAB is definitely my go to place, my home away from. I highly recommend Homewood to anyone for their stay while in town. The staff team are A+

|6.87km from city centerI'm surprised there were so many 5 star reviews on this place, its obvious they dont replace things. Yes it looked like they cleaned but only open areas and sheets. Corners were grimy, sink was taped together, roaches were in the bathroom come the morning, there was a very large stain on one of the mattresses but they did cover it with a thicker under blanket that wasnt on the other bed. People were up making noise a good portion of the night, you could hear through the walls very easily, so much traffic noise, I think it was coming through the AC unit in the wall. People were out smoking all over the place and you could faintly smell it in the room as well, like coming through the AC. We just wanted a place to rest for the night and stopped here because it was cheap and had better reviews than hotels that cost a bit more. At least it was cheap, but I didnt even want to shower here.

Doors were locked and entrance is on the back door
You take a shower and there is yes a shampoo! And the second bottle you think is body wash… no body cream! Well you are in the shower already! After shower you want to brush your teeth right?
Wrong! There no such a toothbrush nor toothpaste, well … after you look everywhere you see a sticker in the bathroom in small writing that says it you need any toiletries such as toothpaste toothbrush shower cup … you should go to the front desk and ask for what you need!
So I’m naked just came out from the shower already mad for not finding the body wash…. And now I need to go downstairs to the front desk naked to get the toothbrush?
Forget this poor service hotel

|16.39km from city center1 night stay which we would have stayed longer if we weren't just passing through. The pool looks great and was very busy at 930AM!! Restaurant was serving late so we could order a steak at 9pm! Salads were great! Room was clean and there were local shops nearby within walking distance. The resort is located at the edge of a neighborhood and I cod have easily taken a nice walk through and enjoyed viewing some of the homes. Will book here again on next road trip for sure!!

|13.96km from city centerWe stopped here for the night unexpectedly when traveling south. (We needed to break up the drive). I was hesitant with COVID, however this place is absolutely immaculate even by my sometimes unrealistic standards. Every staff member I came in contact with was kind & helpful. They’re doing things right here, I will stay without hesitation in the future.

|3.06km from city centerWe enjoyed our stay at the Tree House! Beautiful old house with fun artwork and relaxing vibe. Room was VERY clean and bed was very comfortable. Light breakfast and coffee was available but we ate at the nearby Original Pancake House. We felt very comfortable and safe in the neighborhood (and there’s a police station right across the street). There are many places to eat and shop within walking distance, and a book of recommendations was in our room.

|15.85km from city centerFirst, the good stuff and the only reason for a #3 average rating. Front desk staff was very nice. The room was very clean. Everything we needed was available. But that's where it stopped. We were in Room 128 which NEVER should have been offered as an accommodation. This room is next to the electrical room and the elevators which ran all night long. Who uses the elevator during the night?????? Never heard noises like this and we are frequent and world-wide travelers. And then it got worst, if you can believe that. On the other side of us was an exit door which slammed in the wee hours of early morning. Bang.....bang.....bang. On and On. Where are people going at 3 a.m. 4 a.m. etc.? I did report our discomfort to the gentleman on duty the next day and he was oblivious to our complaint. I simply stated, ”That room should never be given to any guest” And WE ARE PRIORITY CLUB MEMBERS! Not a way to treat your frequent travelers and ones who stay at this hotel when traveling to Birmingham. PLEASE PLEASE take this room off your accommodation list.

|11.57km from city centerThe hotel is older but updated, and the staff was amazing. Was in town for a sports tournament as was most of the hotel. The breakfast staff and housekeeping did an amazing job keeping up with the demand. It is close to the interstate so that is a concern but we left the ac fan on and bring a fan so no issue. Location is great - would stay here again

|10.06km from city centerMy wife and I booked this hotel for a weekend getaway. As Platinum Elite members, we've stayed at many IHG properties. This hotel definitely does not measure up to IHG standards. We arrived tired after a long day of travel and checked in. The front desk clerk was very friendly and kind. The elevator was incredibly loud and barely functioned. The room we were given was shabby and the shower was stained. But the real issue began when, two doors down the hallway, a dog started barking continuously. The barking didn't stop so we called the front desk and were told the family left the dog behind to go to dinner. So this barking was going to continue indefinitely. The clerk kindly offered to move us to a different room, which we accepted. The 2nd room smelled strongly of mold. I have a severe mold allergy so we couldn't stay here. The clerk then showed us a room across the hall, where we discovered the carpets were still damp following a carpet cleaning. No fans had been brought in to dry the carpet. Even the clerk commented that this should have been done. The clerk then offered to check on another room that we could stay in. When she returned, she said she had to check THREE rooms to find one where the carpets weren't wet. In the room she gave us, the A/C wasn't working, which is a deal-breaker for Alabama in August. Frustrated, exhausted, at our wits end, we just decided to leave. We've never had to leave a property before. After 30 minutes on the phone with IHG, we managed to get a refund. Thankfully we found another, much nicer Holiday Inn Express we could stay at to finally get some rest. We were very upset by this experience and my wife even broke down in tears with frustration and disappointment. This hotel is poorly managed and maintained and is nowhere close to other HIE we've stayed at. I should have read the other reviews more closely and found a different hotel. What a disaster.

|1.82km from city centerIt's a nice hotel, spacious rooms and quiet. I slept better than I have in ages. The staff was very welcoming and nice at check-in, accommodated an early check-in, and sent me several messages to see if I needed anything during my stay. However, when I did send a message inquiring about a possible late checkout (three, actually, over a 14 hour span, both via text and in the app), I did not receive a response. I felt like they were clearly ignoring me or avoiding the question. Even if the answer was no, I would have appreciated a response. Eventually I called and the front desk staff was somewhat rude to me and said ”it already is late check out” which doesn't make sense since it was not yet the published checkout time. After I checked out and was reviewing my statement, I noticed I had been charged for parking even though I did not drive. I went back to the front desk to request a refund of these charges; she did process the refund, but implied it was my responsibility to tell the staff at check-in that I was not parking (no one asked me). I've been staying at Hilton brand hotels almost exclusively for over a decade and am a diamond member, I have ALWAYS been asked if I was parking or not, not automatically charged.

|4.59km from city centerThis place needs to be shutdown. The sheets appeared to be clean but I did check for bed bugs. However, they were so old and worn they were almost threadbare. The floor was filthy and sticky. My husband had to put a towel on the floor to keep from sticking with every step. This motel is in a questionable part of town and there is nothing close by that is open. We booked it because it was close to our travel route but I forgot to check the reviews. I won't make that mistake again. Don't let the picture fool you. The door wouldn't shut without slamming it. I was so uncomfortable I could hardly sleep. There is also a train right behind the motel that ran through several times during the night. We didn't bother to check the lite breakfast out. We just wanted to leave. We were gone by 6AM.

|4.34km from city centerThis was our third time at this hotel went back because we enjoyed ourselves the previous two times hotel was the same as before could get a sunbed any time of day the food was well prepared pizzas were great can be receptive but always something to eat, maybe the rooms need a little updating but very clean. Was able to keep room late on last day when asked, all staff worked really hard all day. The location is great not as busy as some resorts but enough going on to enjoy yourself. The only negative from previous years was entertainment with was run by one entertainer which didn't seem interested never seen her only walking around talking to lifeguards, the hotel board said in morning three activities a day but in 7 days play pool and darts on one day rest of week only a lazy game obviously her specialty me and my son enjoy pool entertainment which we have done at hotel before which helps people get together and get to know the entertainment staff which is why we went back. The last few days the entertainer left and was replaced, and things improved a little late for us probably would try a new location for next holiday just let down by the entertainment and had to go out of night which if full inclusive defeats the idea of buying drinks, but Rock Cafe if like the music is a good night out .

|2.3km from city centerThe hotel was clean and in a great location for the reason I was in Birmingham. It was near to the event that I was attending. The sink in my room had a stopper that prevented the water from escaping when I did not want it to collect in the sink during activities such as brushing my teeth and washing my face. The water was also cold and took an excessively long time to heat up even a little bit. It was not even lukewarm. Therefore, I checked out and was unable to shower. My son actually took a cold shower on a cold day, one of the coldest that we have had in Alabama in a while. I was also awakened by an emergency message and alarm to vacate the building due to an emergency only to learn later that it was a test. I learned this when the fire truck arrived and I heard an employee apologizing for not calling them to let them know that it was only a test. I only stayed overnight so there was no other opportunity for me to get a better impression. The only reason that I did not give a lower rating for the facilities is because once I reported the issue with the shower and sink, they sent a handy man to the room to make the repairs, but my son was already taking a cold shower at the time since we were scheduled to get back home to meet previously scheduled obligations. The staff person who was checking me out said that she couldn't do anything for me because I booked through a third party. However, she did state that she would refund the money that I paid for parking.
