Kalutara Resorts

This is more a resort then a normal hotel. with good facilities . Even though it is more then 20 years old it is still o'kay and is currently being updated and renovated. Back when it first opened ,it was probably the best resort in all of Sri Lanka!! Quiet location ,a bit out of town ,but easy to get a Tuk Tuk to get around. it is about 2 hours by bus from Colombo ,or probably quicker by train ........ but not as much fun! Staff where freindly and helpful if needed.

Stayed alone for 2 days. ➕ All the staff are friendly. Number of items on the breakfast buffet. Western food, Sri Lankan food, Indian food, so you won't get tired of it every day. There are two pools, so you don't have to be crowded. There was a gym and a daily program, and I participated in morning and evening training sessions, but since I was the only one there, I was given one-on-one instruction, which was really fun. The cleaners are very friendly. The room was spacious and I could hear the birds singing. Being able to see the sunset on the nearby beach every day. ➖ When I wanted to grab a few drinks and grab a bite to eat in the evening, the Italian restaurant was closed and when I tried to use the bar, there weren't many vegetarian or vegan options. Nothing around. The nearby beach has too high waves for swimming.

5* hotel booked to end our trip in style. Bar staff and cleaners were super happy, polite and love to great the guests in the hotel. Reception staff were generally unhelpful. I tried to book activities and excursions, but was initially told to go the hotel next door before being given a random book While trying to sort late check out one receptionist began serving another customer over my head. Late check out was eventually agreed to which was helpful but after being sat face to face in silence for minutes. Facilities are wonderful. Nice private beach, great pool area. Two bars and buffet style restaurant with ala carte option. Locals got charged significantly less for our event dinner. Some would say that's fair, others would disagree, but not being transparent probably suggests it was trying to be hidden. Service wasn't 5*. When we arrived our bedding was ripped and had a huge hole in it. Thankfully this was fixed, but I think atleast 2/3 people came to check before it was resolved.

Unfortunately underwhelming... We booked a room with 2 double beds (alternatively 2 single bed) for a higher price because that's what we wanted - when we checked in, we were given a room with 1 double bed. Unfortunately the bed couldn't be spitted and no other room was available (which we highly doubted, as we were one of the early one's checking in that day). We received a very soft co-sleeper bed... The first night, we went to bed quite early as we were exhausted from the day. Suddenly, there was banging on the door - up to 10 times - before I was awake enough to open the door to 2 service guys from the hotel, giving me some cut fruits and 4 pralines - at 10:30pm!? I was totally confused by the time and behaviour... Also the personnel wasn't of great help when asked regarding directions, post office, or else... We just didn't like the experience we had in this hotel.

It was a hotel by the sea where you can enjoy a resort feeling! The room was spacious and the food was delicious! However, it was a pity that there were many scenes where the employees asked for tips when they knew they were Japanese.

Our family of three checked into the hotel during the first week of May 2025. Unfortunately, our overall experience was underwhelming. Room service was disappointing, our order was incorrect, and we chose not to send it back as we assumed it would take a long time to receive the correct one. It also took three separate calls just to receive the room service menu. Additionally, we were charged for ice despite having an active room service food bill, which felt unreasonable. When we inquired about evening entertainment (Friday eve), the front desk assured us a live band would be performing, but this never happened. It appeared the resort seems to operate with minimal staff, which may explain the drop in service quality. On a positive note, we were warmly welcomed by a great host at check-in, and the barman at the pool bar made excellent cocktails and provided friendly service. Hopefully, this could be just a rare slip-up.

No network, decisive checkout

I had a pleasant stay at Cinnamon Bay Beruwala. The positive aspects include excellent service, starting from the warm welcome with a towel and juice at check-in, continuing throughout our stay until check-out. All the staff were friendly, kids activity center is a plus and the surroundings were very spacious and pleasant. The rooms were good, and I would definitely recommend their service, giving it a double thumbs up. On the downside, the reading light was broken, there were no bathroom slippers or robes, and the shampoo, lotion, and conditioner bottles were made of ceramic. If these ceramic bottles break, they could cause injury. I suggest that the hotel switch to safer materials for these items. Overall, I would rate our stay 3.8 out of 5. We really enjoyed our time there. If you're looking for excellent service in Beruwala, don't hesitate to book this hotel.

I had a wonderful experience at Citrus Waskadu. The buffet was outstanding, offering a wide variety of delicious options. The pool added a refreshing touch to the stay, perfect for relaxation. However, the bar area can get quite lively, especially when there's a DJ. If you're looking for a quieter evening, it might be wise to request a room further from the noise. Overall, a fantastic stay with just a small note for those preferring a more tranquil night.
