Traveling with kids and elderly parents, we booked two rooms for two nights. At the time of booking, only deluxe rooms were available, and the price wasn't great. The rooms were arranged in a row of three, quite far inside, and a bit small with poor soundproofing, but they were clean. The hotel has its own pier, and the ferry to and from the island is free. Our luggage went directly to the island's front desk, which was very convenient. We were charged a 200 Thai Baht per person island fee at check-in, but it was refunded at check-out, which was a pleasant surprise. The staff, both at the pier and the hotel, were very friendly and helpful. The hotel breakfast was also plentiful. Next time we visit Koh Samet, we'll definitely book a deluxe cottage closer to the beach.

This hotel boasts an excellent location on Ao Phrao Beach, with its own private beach. There are only three hotels in this bay, and Ao Phrao Resort shares ownership with Le Vimarn Cottages & Spa. The middle hotel is independent, which means fewer people and a more secluded atmosphere. This area is much quieter compared to Diamond Beach. While Diamond Beach is lively with music, here you'll find more people quietly reading. The rooms are mostly individual bungalows, which is great. They're spacious and cool. You can borrow towels from the front desk for the beach chairs. The hotel restaurant offers stunning sunset views, but you'll need to book a table in advance to get a good spot. It's clean and hygienic, the rooms are cool, there's plenty of hot water, and it's very quiet – though you can't do much about the AC noise. Overall, it's fantastic. The only downside is the average food at the hotel restaurant, but you can't have everything.

This was my second time here. The service was excellent, but there was an unpleasant experience when I was leaving. I had already paid for the fruit I ordered for the day at the restaurant the night before, but I was asked to pay again at checkout. The receptionist was quite loud, which made me unhappy. The fruit was only a few hundred baht, not much, but it upset me and affected my mood! I was also told I had to pay 150 baht for dry cleaning bags, which I don't understand. After talking to the receptionist, they said they wouldn't charge me… The first time I came in June, the service was much better. This time was a bit unpleasant, and there were so many mosquitoes! After two nights, my thighs and calves were covered in bites. However, my child loved it, especially the restaurant service, which was excellent. They even offered DIY ordering of meals: porridge and meat soup! But anyway, it affected my mood all day. It wasn't about the amount of baht, but being asked to pay extra was very annoying! I don't know if I'll go a third time. I'll think about it… but I'll stay at the hotel for two days anyway!

If you are picky, need private beach and a big swimming pool - this hotel is not for you. It is a nice small hotel, with small pool, great breakfast. There are rooms that can fit 4 people. It’s a 20 second walk to the beach, you can rent a beach chair or lay on the towel. This hotel only servers breakfasts, there is no lunch or dinner, but you can always get good food at Samed Villa Restaurant. It’s a pleaser stay for several days, lots of greenery on this hotel property, it’s small but cozy.

The taxi from the pier cost 250 baht. The beach right in front of the hotel is fantastic, and the male attendant who manages the towels was really good – he's the reason I gave the last 100 baht as a tip. His enthusiasm also led us to book a night squid fishing trip for 9 people. However, all the staff here seem to have two different attitudes: one for Western guests and another for Chinese guests. While everyone else managed basic politeness, the female server in the restaurant (pictured in photo 2) was incredibly rude to us. This is my fifth time vacationing in Thailand, and I've also traveled to the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Mauritius, the Maldives, and Hamilton Island, but this is honestly the first time I've encountered a staff member so rude. She pointed her finger at me and loudly demanded that I push the water bottle from the middle of the table to against the wall. I was completely stunned. Upon check-in, they asked for 500 baht per night for an extra bed for our 6-year-old. Since the three of us could comfortably share the king-sized bed, we declined and only paid for the child's breakfast, which was 200 baht per day. One evening, we also encountered teenagers on the beach who were indiscriminately bullying kids playing there. I never even saw something like this in Australia, yet it happened on Koh Samet. Thankfully, my English speaking skills are decent, and after a big argument, he ended up yelling that he was going to call the police. Overall, I still wouldn't recommend booking a hotel here. The pricing attracts a certain type of clientele, and since there are many very cheap hotels nearby, the beach attracts all sorts of tourists.

Everything is what you would expect from a resort. I stayed in a chalet which was nice. The chalets could do with a bit of tlc. There is a step form the bedroom area to the bathroom that could do with a yellow strip or something so you see it. Breakfast buffet is what you expect, had some food one evening while watching the fire show, the food was excellent. Not ideal for early sleepers as music is on until midnight, but I had a Seaview chalet so the ones further back might not be affected. All in all a solid 7/10

I requested a twin room when booking, but they gave me a king room. I still liked the environment. It has a private beach, and the beach chairs are only for hotel guests. The sand on Koh Samet is very fine. However, the hotel has a major problem: the rooms are adjacent and incredibly poorly soundproofed. It was the first time I'd ever stayed in such a poorly soundproofed room; I could hear everyone talking next to me clearly, and I didn't sleep well all night. Also, the king rooms I stayed in for the first two nights were tiny! I eventually switched to a twin room, which was much more spacious. So choosing the right room is key.

There was a young guy who served us for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and he never smiled, which honestly dampened the vacation mood a bit. The ladies at the front desk, however, provided great service. Koh Samet is a hidden gem with jelly-like clear waters, definitely worth a visit.

Overall, I'm very satisfied! After arriving by bus, we walked about 600m to the pier reception, then took a slow boat to the hotel's pier. Baan is the closest of the four hotels to the pier (as shown in the last picture), which was a huge relief! It's just a 1-minute walk, saving us the hassle of getting a tuk-tuk. The hotel isn't luxurious, but it's quiet and elegant. I especially loved the tree by the beach. Being close to Christmas, the evenings here left a wonderful impression on me! The room was quite spacious, with an IKEA-esque style. There's an outdoor balcony, perfect for reading in the morning. Outside the room, there's a chocolate drink shop where you can grab a drink to enjoy on the beach. To the north, it's less crowded and beautifully scenic – I really love it here! Breakfast was also quite extensive, with several dishes you could select individually. The staff's attitude was much better than in many places in Bangkok. I'm especially grateful that on my first day, I forgot my DJI drone, and the front desk staff kept it safe for me until I returned. Thank you! Oh, and there's a small restaurant run by an old man to the north that's absolutely delicious! Try the Tom Yum Goong and Mama noodles! My husband and I, along with the Swedish couple at the next table, completely cleaned our plates. Highly recommend: ร้านเจ้กิวลุงเตี้ย

It's a 7-minute walk to the beach, and to the pier as well. Everything is close, the island is small. The room is clean, the bed linen is snow-white. Water and toilet paper were changed every day, the cleaning of the rooms is excellent! We took a room for four, the room has 2 giant beds. You can fit four on one)) the room has everything you need, a hair dryer, a safe, a kettle, shampoo and shower gel, sets of towels for everyone. A cute, cozy terrace. Quadruple rooms have a separate terrace for the room, three and double rooms have a shared terrace for 2 rooms. Next to the entrance to the terrace there is a foot shower so you don't drag sand into the room. Very convenient. Very pleasant impressions of the stay. Now on Samet we will stay only with you ❤

Stayed for 2 nights and 3 days. You can snorkel directly in front of the hotel, and there are more fish near the coral reefs, but I wouldn't recommend going there if the waves are big. It's best to wear long pants and diving socks to avoid scratches. The sand right outside is very fine and soft. Breakfast is served by the sea with ocean views. The bar street can get a bit noisy at night, so it might not be suitable for light sleepers, but since we usually go to bed late, it didn't bother us. A major plus is that the bedsheets are changed for every new guest. The room has many windows, making it bright and airy. The only downsides are that the shower only has a handheld showerhead and the water pressure is a bit low. For shopping, try to go to the 7-Eleven on the main street, as the supermarket here is about a third more expensive. Overall, it offers great value for money and is perfect for a relaxing holiday.

At first they could not find the reservation. The room was good, old but wel kept and clean. Aircon worked well but the shower had no pressure. When we mentioned this at reception it was fixed within hours. The gardens were cut but the gardener left all cuttings whete they were so we cleaned our own path. The coffee and teacans were so dirty we did not even toych them, but thete was a coffeemachine that worked slowly as well. Bad coffee though🙃. Very good yoghurt, fresh baked/fried eggs and a choice of asian food. Only melon for fruit and juice was the usual sugarwater. Chairs with parasols and good matrasses on a great part of the beach, and although it was never clean of leaves, there were some guys shoving some leaves around every morning. This place has a lot going for it, but, like the rest of Samed, it lacks enthusiasm and selfrespect. High prices are okay, but only if the standard is a bit higher. There is trash EVERYWHEREon Samet, and I mean stinky big piles of black bags, matrasses and plastic bottles. Behind one beach where we walked to, it smelled as there was a corpse lying around. That was not at our beach luckily, but Samed is small and I think things can be ran a lot better with the amount of money coming in.

It's far from the pier, it took a long time to arrive by car. There is the sea around, it is very quiet, not the main entertainment area, only two stores have food. But it's good to watch the sea. It should be relatively remote and cheaper than in the business circle. It is a Thai-style house. Most Thai hotels and guesthouses have a normal network, which is unpleasant. You can only go out to watch the bonfire show at night when you ask for a Shuangtiao car.

We chose this hotel based on reviews. We didn't book in advance, as the trip was unplanned. It was our first time on this island, and we weren't sure which beaches were best. We decided to pick an inexpensive hotel with a good view and then visit each beach separately. Upon arrival, we realized we had made an excellent choice. LOCATION. You couldn't ask for a better location. It's so close to the pier that we literally walked there with our suitcases in 4 minutes. The two nearest beaches are a 10-15 minute walk away. We thought about renting a scooter but quickly realized we didn't need one. There are cafes, main restaurants, massage places, and, most importantly, a 7/11 nearby. We only went to the pier once to catch a shared songthaew to Ao Prao beach for 40 baht per person. (On the way back, a songthaew acts as a taxi for 250 baht for two, which took us back to the pier). We were worried that being so close to the pier would mean smells from ferry fuel, dirt, and noise. But in the end, there aren't many ferries, no real noise, and the only smell is the sea. The cicadas sing louder! 😄 HOTEL. We had room 10. An excellent room. Yes, it's not brand new, but for the price, it was more than decent. Every morning, we woke up and enjoyed the sea view right from our bed. There's a hammock on the veranda – definitely lie in it! We sat on the veranda at night, and there weren't many mosquitoes or gnats; we didn't even need repellent. Closing the doors provided a little sound insulation. I particularly appreciated the drying rack for clothes and the abundance of hangers in the room. There were glasses, mugs, a kettle, a safe, and a hairdryer. The mattress, pillows, and bedding were all fine. We got one towel per person. CLEANLINESS AND HOUSEKEEPING. There isn't daily room cleaning as such, but they change towels daily, and replenish the gel, shampoo, toilet paper, and tea/coffee sets. If you go out, leave your used towels on the veranda, and when you return, you'll find fresh ones in a bag on the table. For the trash can from the toilet, also place it on the veranda, and they will empty it. Hot water was available 24/7. We really loved this hotel. After returning from the beaches, the scenery visually changed, and we simply enjoyed the beautiful view from our window and the sound of the waves. And, of course, you can't escape the cicadas. We recommend this hotel. Our recommendation: Make sure to walk a little further past this hotel; there are also lovely swimming spots there with no waves.

This is a good low budget option to experience island life, but not that low budget £60 per night ( January 2026) We are very familiar with island life in Thailand and appreciate that some things just don’t work as well. The location of Malibu Samed Resort is gorgeous, it’s more or less situated on the beach of the small quaint Wong Duean Bay. There are several beach restaurants available, the vibe is chilled, without the drinking or ******** culture. It’s lovely. Our welcome was warm, the staff were great and happy to help with our luggage. Our room is small 16 m² with 2 single beds, some hanging and storage space. It has a rustic feel to it. There is a fridge which is always welcome, tea and coffee making facilities, which we always appreciate, as well as a safety deposit box & flat screen TV. The bed and pillow are comfortable but not sumptuous. Towels are provided and I would say are of typical island quality. However the shower was an issue, obviously water is limited on the island and taking a hot shower was challenging but actually having a good supply of water either in the evening or morning was very hit and miss. Missed more often, it gets frustrating when you can’t have an adequate shower, that’s one of the reasons we move about frequently. Breakfast is of limited quality but there are a variety of options including cereal, hot food both western & Thai. Toast cereal and tea & coffee. The pool area was hardly used during our stay so a nice quiet retreat from the beach was available.

This hotel is clearly not a 4 star level. I would rate it a 2 star or 3 star max. The two good points about this hotel are its direct access to the beach and the delicious food at reasonable prices. Several negative points include the hotel being very old, old fashioned rooms, and zero hospitality services from all the staffs. There is no 24 hr. reception. If there is any emergency, you are all on your own. No one would pick up the mobile phone as well. You will never get a greeting anytime of the day starting from the reception, to house keeping staff or restaurant staffs. It clearly shows that they all have been untrained. I would recommend that you book this hotel only if you are looking for a budget, no frills hotel. If I visit Koh Samed again, I would book the 4 star hotel next door in an instant, the Samed Tamarind Resort.

The beaches were clean, and the white sand crunched delightfully underfoot. You can even get a massage right on the beach. The hotel itself is in a relatively quiet spot, and I say 'relatively quiet' because it's surrounded by lush vegetation. Many birds start their dawn chorus early in the morning, which is actually lovely – waking up to the sounds of different birds is quite nice. The hotel is a bit old, and the rooms aren't large, but they do clean upon request. The rooms have everything you need for a short stay. The pier is also a unique feature. It's a bit disappointing though that when I came for New Year's, the room included a welcome scarf, and the mini-bar had free snacks and drinks. How do I even begin? The room itself was beautiful, but for HKD 2000 a night, the complete lack of service was just awful. Only one front desk staff member spoke a little English; the other understood nothing at all. I forgot my travel adapter, which was a huge problem because my child needed it for their milk and I couldn't charge my phone. The location is incredibly remote with absolutely nothing around, and the beach water wasn't very clear either. When I asked the front desk to borrow an adapter, they told me to take a taxi to the city center 7-Eleven to buy one! That's just terrible. For a HKD 2000 per night room, the service was worse than a 4-star hotel back in Bangkok, where they actually provide adapters for guests. Also, there's only one restaurant at the hotel, and the food isn't great, but you have no other options. I just think if you're trying to rebrand as a high-end establishment, you need to offer much better service. You shouldn't be delivering service levels akin to a standard hotel in Songkhla.

The shower water temperature control is an issue – it's either scorching hot or ice cold, with no in-between. This hotel gave me a very mixed impression. It's located right on the beach, and the only access is from the beach itself. You'll have to carry your luggage across the sand (though the hotel does have porters if you ask at the front desk). We didn't know this when we checked in, as this detail wasn't in the hotel description. We arrived in the evening and had to drag a huge suitcase 15 meters across the sandy beach in sneakers, dodging people dining at tables. Our room was booked for the 1st floor (booking photo attached), but we were assigned a corner room on the 3rd floor. We spent the next three days trying to sort it out with the hotel. They admitted their mistake and promised to move us, but never did, even though 1st-floor rooms were available during our stay. In room 31B, the Wi-Fi signal was completely non-existent. I had to go out onto the balcony every time and stretch my arm with my phone towards the pool. The internet on the beach also worked poorly. The Wi-Fi was only good by the pool. The TV in our room also didn't work. However, this was probably one of the few rooms in the hotel where you didn't need to draw the curtains, as the balcony view was of a wall (most rooms have glass windows and face each other). The hotel has a restaurant with some tables right on the beach; the menu is quite extensive, and the prices aren't inflated. The beach is nice, and the sea is magnificent. Breakfasts were good, with a wide selection, and the room was cleaned daily, with water provided. There's a pier about 15 meters from the hotel, and you can arrive and depart directly from there (300 baht per person). Near the hotel, there's a small shop, several restaurants along the beach, and bike rentals available. The reception can also call a tuk-tuk for you. On weekends, the reception and restaurant were open until 11 PM, and on weekdays until 9-10 PM.

We booked a two-bedroom bungalow for a family of two adults and two children. It's very comfortable, cleaned daily, and has good breakfasts. The sea and private beach are pristine. We stayed there for four nights and then headed to Pattaya. Samet and the Cliff Resort are definitely much better. But not for those looking for a party. If you're looking for relaxation, clean sea, and peace, it's fine. If you're looking for clubs and nightlife, it's not.

The room was quite spacious and newly renovated. The location was excellent, close to both the sea and the main street, making it super convenient for shopping and dining. You can even pay with Alipay at 7-Eleven. Be aware that children over 4 years old (or was it 3?) incur an extra charge of 700 THB per day for the room, plus 200 THB per day for the buffet breakfast. So, if you're traveling with kids, it's probably best to book a family room, as paying extra doesn't guarantee a room change – you'll likely stay in the same one. The deluxe king and twin rooms have a small bed that an adult can sleep on. The hotel has a restaurant where you can eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The prices are comparable to outside, though the portions are about half the size. The buffet breakfast was very rich and definitely worth it.

Nice little split level duplex. 2 queen beds on upper level , with glass sliding door and own ac. Big double day bed and massive TV downstairs. Fridge and kettle. Separate shower and toilet. Bit of a communal seating area right outside. Owners very good communication and helpful. Rented scooter for 300.

Hygiene: Hygiene is OK, clean even if it is clean Facilities: There are no facilities, just an ordinary homestay, there is a small swimming pool, the water pressure in the bath is not high, and the shower is not very comfortable. Service: Not able to communicate in English, use translation software It is fake to say that it is close to Diamond Beach, and it takes 15 minutes to walk to the beach. The point is here: if you want to stay for two nights, it is recommended that you book two separate orders to book. On the first day, you can find a better hotel and at least one order can be refunded. If you book directly for two days, you can actually stay for one day, then the hotel is 200% and refuses to refund the money. There are actually many hotels to choose from.

What a pleasant surprise! The hotel I originally wanted was fully booked, so I ended up here. A quick Songthaew ride from the pier got me there. It's a bit far from the main hub, but the room is right by the sea, beautiful, clean, and peaceful. The room itself is also spacious and spotless, everything was great. The kids absolutely loved the hotel, and the staff were incredibly warm and friendly. Highly recommend! Oh, and there are street vendors by the sea selling pancakes, salads, and grilled chicken wings. The pancake guy can sometimes be a bit impatient, but the lady selling salads and grilled chicken wings is super friendly, and her food is delicious – I even saw hotel staff buying from her. The kids enjoyed the grilled chicken wings too, and thankfully, no upset stomachs!

The facilities are great. I stayed here once for New Year's Day and came back for a few more days. The hotel has its own beach, and in the evenings, they offer open-air movies and fire dance performances. They thoughtfully provide both deep and shallow swimming areas, so kids can play safely. The pier is also a unique feature. It's a bit disappointing though that when I came for New Year's, the room included a welcome scarf, and the mini-bar had free snacks and drinks. This time, the room price was significantly higher, and those little extras were gone. However, the overall experience is still excellent, making it perfect for a vacation. P.S. First thing to do when you get to the island: rent a scooter!
